Move request
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved to Led Zeppellin Definitive Collection. Jenks24 (talk) 08:09, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Definitive Collection Mini LP Replica CD Boxset → Definitive Collection of Mini-LP Replica CDs (Led Zeppelin boxed set) – consistent with album packaging; includes band's name in article title. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 14:01, 12 July 2014 (UTC) Radiopathy •talk• 16:01, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- Support addition of Led Zeppellin - or Support any alternative variant including the most important bit of information - a good example of how generic media format description titles consistently fail users on en.wp. Here the only actual title is "Definitive Collection" (which is a dab) wheras Mini LP Replica CD and Boxset are format descriptors. Led Zeppelin Definitive Collection (Mini LP Replica CD Boxset) might be a better [Title (format)] solution. But it really doesn't matter, any solution which includes the most important bit of information is helpful, and any solution which hides the most important bit of information is failing to recognize the difference between a thing/place/person article and an artist's product for the WP:AT "general reader". - Oppose as proposed Definitive Collection of Mini-LP Replica CDs (Led Zeppelin) would seem to be the correct disambiguation. This also avoids the mess currently occurring at talk:Box set where the nominator has requested it be renamed to "boxed set" -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 07:02, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Rename to Definitive Collection of Mini-LP Replica CDs. The (Led Zeppelin boxed set) (which of course, should be box set, per this, and many other sources) is only needed if there was another article titled Definitive Collection of Mini-LP Replica CDs. - Comment - I proposed the term "boxed set" to maintain consistency across Led Zeppelin articles, e.g., this and this. I won't endorse the IPs otherwise acceptable proposal of Definitive Collection of Mini-LP Replica CDs (Led Zeppelin) nor User:Lugnutss proposal because they are the result of WP:JUSTDONTLIKEIT and WP:WIKIHOUNDING rather than any type of policy-based reasoning, based on the discussion here. Radiopathy •talk• 17:06, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ironic you state I have a non-policy based rationale, when that's exactly what you have in your other move request. Again, WP:CIR on your part. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 17:09, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Considering your opinions at the Box Set move request, it seems you're the one with issues about IDONTLIKEIT. It has clearly been shown to you at that discussion that "box set" is acceptable English even appearing in Oxford dictionaries. Considering that this nomination and the box set's nomination occur on the same day, it would appear the two are related. -- 65.94.171.126 (talk) 04:06, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
- Exactly. It's not down to the nom to "endorse" other user's comments. The closing admin will do so. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:18, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi User:Lugnuts old chap, there's a lot of Definitive Collections. What if readers know the band but don't know the exact format? In ictu oculi (talk) 17:25, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm, interesting! Happy to go for Led Zeppellin Definitive Collection then. Ramble On, everybody. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 16:59, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- Comment Led Zeppellin Definitive Collection would be the most user friendly result. I realise that would make the article a bit too easy to find but it is what Amazon.com has. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:20, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- Comment - I agree that would be the most logical solution, even though amazon is far from being a reliable source. Radiopathy •talk• 01:39, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- However your suggested title already redirects to this page; I think my suggestion is more precise, since it is, outside the parentheses, how the collection is described on the package. Radiopathy •talk• 17:53, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- You don't think that Led Zeppellin Definitive Collection would be less of a mouthful/easier to type? Anyway, I support the original RM as well. Any result that leads to the band's name being added would meet WP:SONGDAB vs the dozens of other Definitive Collection. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:10, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
