Sovereign citizen category

[edit]

I've noticed more than one user adding the Sovereign citizen movement category, however, I have removed it as I have not found a RS pointing to Gaines' association with the movement, only an observation that her actions (in the car incident) are similar to Sovereign Citizen. And that alone does not suffice adding the category. I.am.a.qwerty (talk) 01:03, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Source found for alleged "sovereign citizen" association. I.am.a.qwerty (talk) 05:29, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

March Traffic Stop

[edit]

I have updated the traffic stop information based off of the video of the traffic stop. In that video the police officers are politely telling her to leave the car or they will have to go hands on. This edit was made because the former version made it seem the police were threatening to taser her without any provocation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.123.161.48 (talk) 05:35, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

claim that "Gaines did not return fire"

[edit]

Under the heading "Shooting", the claim was made that "Gaines was subsequently shot and killed by police, though Gaines did return fire." No source is provided for this claim. In fact, as was reported by countless reliable sources, the Baltimore Chief of Police stated unequivocally the opposite: "Perceiving not only her actions, but the words she used, we discharged one round at her, in turn she fired several rounds back at us. We fired again at her, striking and killing her."Washington Post (emphasis mine) Consequently, I have removed that claim. Bricology (talk) 05:49, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thank you for catching that, Mr rnddude. My confusion is the result of the grammatically awkward sentence, since "...though Gaines did return fire" is non-standard (saying "...although Gaines returned fire" would be more standard), and because placing the statement of her actions after the statement about the police shooting and killing her, is nonsensical. In that order, it implies that the police shot and killed her, and then she returned fire; quite a trick, that. Bricology (talk) 06:36, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
