Outstanding pictures of various aspects of the Khyber Pass and the various human-related "things" occurring within the pass. Those pics add immensely to this entry in my unadulterated Disgruntled Old Coot Opinion.Obbop (talk) 23:47, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Location Map

[edit]

I have a location map of Khyber Pass but don't know how to upload it here. http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n289/Ju_Ju_04/?action=view&current=khyberpass2copy.jpg Pea Soup (talk) 23:01, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The map is well suited to filling a serious lack in the article. I don't know how to do the upload either, and haven't needed to for 5 years and 7 days. (And none of File:Khyberpass2copy, File:Khyberpass2, and File:Khyberpass exist or have deleted history. None of the 4 items in the Image:-namespace whose titles begin with the 6 letters Khyber or khyber or KHYBER remotely could serve to explicate the relationship between the pass and modern cities. Altho there are several versions trying to address this need on Commons, i don't think any does it as well.) If someone will do the upload and notify me of the title, on this talk page or my own, i'll do the rest of the job.

Can't figure out how to report this, so this seems to be as good a place as any. It appears that someone lifted the text of this page on this site. How does one report this? --Jayson Vantuyl (talk) 00:43, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More commanders

[edit]

I think there is more of commanders of great significance that have led their armies through the Khyber pass I add Demetrius to start with. Awakened82 (talk) 10:11, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Direction

[edit]

When Shah Jahan went through the pass, did he go eastward toward India or westward toward Afghanistan? Hokie Tech (talk) 19:25, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Hokie Tech[reply]

Rhyming slang

[edit]

No mention of the once commonly-used rhyming slang. Very much used in 50s and 60s British comedies.--Rfsmit (talk) 18:11, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. On the Carry On... Up the Khyber it says "Khyber" (short for "Khyber Pass") being rhyming slang for "arse".--Timtak (talk) 23:14, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but it's British arse, not American ass. Otherwise it doesn't rhyme. 86.187.237.138 (talk) 14:36, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Illegal?

[edit]

Are these cross- border raids really illegal (end of "current conflicts" section)? Or is this in question? Maybe it shouldn't be included in an encyclopedia if it's not certain regardless of what certain people may feel. Seems a little biased no? 70.17.134.211 (talk) 20:23, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"oldest known passes"

[edit]

The lede currently includes this line: "it is one of the oldest known passes in the world." It's not clear to me what this is supposed to mean. People have been trading through passes everywhere there are mountains since before recorded history. The other possible meaning, that it is geologically an old formation is implausible given the relative youth of the Himalayas. The rest of the article gives little context for the statement. Unless someone can clarify, it should be deleted. InspectorTiger (talk) 21:57, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No comments for a month, I made the change. InspectorTiger (talk) 14:47, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a Map as a reference?

[edit]

Please have a look at the following line where citation is needed: A mountain bike trail connecting the Top of the World trail at Whistler, British Columbia to the Whistler Creekside Village.[citation needed]

As a reference to this line, I added a map link from TrailForks which refers to the location of trail mentioned. [1] However, User_talk:MrOllie has reverted my contribution by saying that it's Wikipedia:SPS.

Citation for location found by map reading?

[edit]

A few months ago I edited this entry to correct the location of the Pakistan end of the pass. I found this information by examining the region in google maps. The change now has a "citation needed" tag. Does such a thing really require a citation, and if so what is the best way to cite it? Thanks MundoMango (talk) 14:05, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Missing ref

[edit]

82.6.13.166 could you please fill in a definition for the ref you added named "humshehri.org2"? -- Fyrael (talk) 19:42, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
