Fun
[edit]Umm...How can you be in the Department of Fun and the Fun Police at the same time? bibliomaniac15 01:08, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Logic has never inhibited the actions of I, the Mighty Obbop.
Matrix decoder
[edit]At Matrix decoder, you seem to have duplicated the entire article, and added a link to a wordpress blog. I don't normally use those in WP, but if it belongs, it will belong in the wp:EL section, which I have added for your editing pleasure. :) - sinneed (talk) 04:24, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- My apologies, then, I read the edit history incorrectly. Most embarrassing. Thank you for correcting me so courteously.- sinneed (talk) 04:54, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Everything was present when I added the above. No idea how my name. ID, whatever was applied to all the technical stuff. Follow my link to observe the extent of my knowledge regarding quadraphomic audio or electronics in general. I am definitely not a tech-type!!!! the Mighty Obbop. Star of neither stage nor screen. I do adore mashed taters and gravy, however. Scalloped taters are also awesome.
A request I would like to make regarding your blog
[edit]Dear Mr. Mighty Obbop,
As a humble new member of the herd, I just discovered your blog today thanks to a comment you posted on the BBQ Addicts website back in December, 2009. I looked and looked for an email address to praise you on your writings but alas, I was unable to locate one, so I am posting here, in the hopes that you see this and will oblige. You may email me directly at Speeddymon "at" gmail "dot" com if you wish.
The main reason for wanting to write you, aside from the praise, is a request for your consideration. Being that there are so many forms of media today, one has not much time to scour them all. One way I've managed to condense all of the reading I do in one day so that I can filter out the things that do not interest me and more quickly read the things that do, has been to focus mainly on the postings of the people I follow on Twitter. Your blog seems highly worthy of being posted there, however as I am sure you are a busy person as well, I would not dare ask you to manually post a link on twitter to each new post you make to your blog. Instead, my request is simply that you use a service, like for example, twitterfeed.com, to do that posting for you. Twitterfeed will follow the RSS feed posted by your blog and post a link on a twitter account you create any time you make a new one.
My suggesting this is not only for my benefit, but for yours as well, which I will detail now. The biggest benefit is that twitter is such a large medium of collected so-called "microblogging" that it can hugely increase your subscriber base just by the fact that people can stumble on your posts by searching for things on Twitter. In addition, if you are concerned with raising your page rank so you appear closer to the top of Google and other search engine searches, having all of your blog posts linked to from twitter can make your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) go up due to the back links and people ReTweeting the posts you make.
It is my belief that things like this would be of mutual interest, and so I hope that you will consider what I have detailed, however if you wish to not bother, it would not be a huge loss to me.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to read these words.

Thank you for your input/advice. I appreciate your taking the time to communicate with me, the humble Obbop, star of neither stage nor screen, shanty dweller from the dregs of society and so low upon the socio-economic pile that passing slugs appear as lumbering behemoths rising above me.
I will peek into the matter and determine what needs to be done to implement your suggestion that appears to be a mighty-fine idea since I have heard so much about the "Twitter phenomena" but have not dabbled in that area mainly due to sheer cussedness and Disgruntled Old Cootness of a general nature.
Have a groovy week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speedy deletion nomination of Terry Anderson (radio host)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Terry Anderson (radio host) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. tedder (talk) 07:34, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Golly gee.. all the above just seems so complicated and convoluted to an old geezer such as I.
I remain impaired as to my ability to ponder the "speedy deletion" stuff but I always enjoyed watching Speedy Gonzales when young and I stared at the TV comics offerings on Saturday mornings. Ariba!!! Obbop (talk) 16:59, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Sigh.......... has the growing "cult of political correctness" permeated the non-hallowed halls of Wikipedia? Terry Anderson, a radio talk show host who experienced the many negative effects upon USA citizens from the invading multi-millions across the southern USA border told of these negatives during his radio show and listeners called in to offer their views and experiences; most which confirmed what Terry Anerson spoke of. Since it is no longer politically correct to not agree with the ongoing invasion of the once-sovereign USA I suppose those controlling this Wikipedia entity are merely following their implanted politically correct indoctrination that I have observed to be becoming increasingly common within the USA human herd. WikiFun Police
[edit]Hiya, Obbop. I noticed you are (were?) in the Wikipedia Fun Police. It is apparent that that organization is not very active, considering nobody's changed the page or its talk page for a quite some time. Now, I feel that the group had value in that it, contrary to their supposed beliefs, did in fact add fun to Wikipedia, in a way that was different from the Department of Fun. Upon realizing this, I decided that a new group was in order, one that did intend to spread fun, but in an obsessive, ultra-strict way. Thus, the WikiFun Police was born. I just wanted to ask you, being someone who appears to want to bring fun to Wikipedia, if you were interested in joining the said group? At the moment it is in its infancy, with a very small page and but one member (this guy), but it has the potential to grow into a powerful, fun-oriented force for making people's time at Wikipedia fun. What say you? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page! EWikistTalk 23:03, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
I saw you are a member of the Wikipedia Fun Police and the WikiFun police. Did you know that they are mutual enemies? Double agent, huh? Me at my happiest! 13:43, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
"Regulate" fun
[edit]Hey, hope this doesn't bother you, but I want to report some rogue editors to the department of fun. The page for the song "Regulate" had a hilarious "synopsis" section that summerized this absurd rap song in neutral encyclopedia style (http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Regulate_(song)&oldid=386396104). It even got mentioned in print media. Yet some editors have taken a particular interest, and despite active discussion on the talk page, have deleted the synopsis and locked the page. One said:
"Wikipedia is not a comedy site. If you think this "synopsis" is hilarious, than copy and paste it into your blog. But it is garbage as far as an encyclopedia is concerned and it doesn't belong here, no matter how funny you think it is. The fact that it's about a rap song doesn't mean that "anything goes" and that this is somehow appropriate. Nothing about Wikipedia is to be played for humor. The idea that said humor is somehow appropriate because it's "outreach" and will introduce a new demographic to wikipedia or because it's factual as well as funny...it's all BS." http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Regulate_(song)#Not_a_comedy_site
You can see why, since think the synopsis is worth keeping, I would like to try to find someone to unlock the page.
Thanks, Mike
(Sorry about not leaving a direct contact, you can reply on the talk page for Regulate, I check that every so often.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.220.213.14 (talk) 04:54, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

I refrain from becoming involved with anything rap or hip-hop since I find the genre to, FOR ME, offer absolutely nothing of any interest whatsoever.
In fact, I would MUCH rather listen to classical music for years than have to be exposes to rap/hip-hop for a few mere seconds...... that is how much I despise that genre.
Thanks for the invite anyway.
It's All About the Cheese
[edit]Saw your comment about dry Jack cheese and tried to do my best to explain dry Jack based on the reference already cited in the article. See if the paragraph now makes some sense and do try to keep warm in these frigid times. Geoff Who, me? 03:52, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Cut the Cheese
[edit]and eat it. Or, just grab a chunk and gnaw upon it; akin to gulping milk directly from its original container. Shanty dwellers do not care!! http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Monterey_Jack Visit the entry. Ponder Monterey Jack cheese. Chant a mantra and become one with the stuff. Low in carbohydrates and a bearer of needed nutrients. Useful in cooking or just eat it plain. Cheese is our friend, deserving of accolades and a happy dance by those delighting in its gustatory delights. SO many vittles explode with flavor when the cheese is cut, or sliced or shredded. Cold, warm or melted; such a flexible edible. What would the Philly Cheese Steak be if, instead, it was the Philly Fish Head Sandwich with nary a cheese chunk upon it? Kudos to cheese and all those creating or adding to Wiki cheese and cheese-related entries. I believe I need to add some entries about cheese to my private pages about vittles:http://eatemupyum.wordpress.com/Obbop (talk) 13:30, 25 March 2012 (UTC) The shanty-dwelling Disgruntled Old Coot, Obbop, wrote this.
November 2012
[edit]Please stop using talk pages such as Talk:Kobayashi Maru for general discussion of the topic. They are for discussion related to improving the article; not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you. -- Doniago (talk) 11:01, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
Sniff. Sob. I devoted 5 9-hour days honing the wondrous-to-me written discourse I placed within the Kobayashi Maru Wiki entry. I poured my heart, soul and mental musings into that post and... POOF!!!... my efforts were for naught. I may have just as well frittered my time away by some symbolic yet worthless act such as voting at the federal level. Returning to the article's written mumblings section the laborious written-down thoughts have disappeared... Gone With the Wind!!! (((GASP)))) There is now only this page to pass along to any progeny I sired but am unaware of when I convulse in agonizing agony and shriek those last verbalizations as my trillions of cells that create me, the entity known as the Disgruntled Old Coot, dies. Eeeeeek!!!! And when I die the even larger number of hitch-hikers, those multitude of single-celled bacteria and various fungi and parasites living within and upon me, will also die. Sniff. Good thing we do not hold separate funerals for each individual cell. Anyway... I will carry on despite the horrors confronting me, conveyed by one of the resident censor-type entities. At least the shanty semi-repels the encroaching frigid outside air, allowing life to exist within my humble hovel's walls. Obbop (talk) 14:36, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

And again in January 2013
[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use talk pages for inappropriate discussion, as you did at Talk:Sovereign citizen movement, you may be blocked from editing. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:37, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- I was going to say the same thing. And note that edits such as this one[1] are WP:BLP violations. Out of your 241 edits with this account, 190 were talk page edits. I think the proportion is greater for your IP addresss 68.13.191.153 (talk · contribs) (or at least you signed a post by this IP recently at [2]. Talk pages are not forums and if you continue to abuse the in this way you will be blocked. Dougweller (talk) 15:49, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
My comment placed upon the linked-to page was very appropriate. My accumulated knowledge, wisdom, etc. is based upon 3 college degrees and ample real-life experience. I detect in those criticizing my input on the page you lads are whining about may be due to a "Caesar Complex" or something similar. Revel in your "power", lads; strut your stuff and rejoice in your self-importance. Feel free to ban me. I hope that doing so results in your attaining an orgasm-like wondrous feeling. In the meantime, I will chuckle at your inanity. Love, ObbopObbop (talk) 20:35, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi!!!! Thanks to those know-it-all power-hungry nefarious moderators lambasting me from their pedestals high aloft looking down upon us mere peons I just departed the entry for Operation Frequent Wind. No mention of any type about the USS Schofield DEG-3 first-hand involvement in that military evolution. I was aboard as we operated independently away from the rest of the fleet. But, thanks to those uppity snobby moderators I decided months ago that Wikipedia does not deserve first-hand truthful accounts since to rub those oh-so special moderators the wrong way is to invite their harsh retaliation. No problem. Let knowledge be lost as my generation dies off. It is obviously more important that the special moderator class maintains their very high self-important image of themselves.Obbop (talk) 02:59, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Arachnidism
[edit]Hi Obbop! I write in response to your anecdote about having been bitten by a Californian black widow. You will be aware of the catch-phrase to the effect that the plural of "anecdote" is not "data", and in terms of inflection and orthography the statement is unassailable. However, I reject the intent and attitude radically in terms both of sense and science; "data" might not be the linguistic plural, but scientifically speaking, anecdotes decidedly are data in multiple senses, and two interesting aspects to your anecdote, I accept almost without reservation as being informative, entertaining and intriguing. If you would be willing to elaborate on your experience (or direct me to an accessible online source where you already have expanded on it) I should be grateful. All the best JonRichfield (talk) 09:20, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Words will never adequately describe the intense physical pain endured along with the mental trauma of knowing that only my battle-honed constitution was allowing me to fend off the toxin coursing through my body systems. A lesser human may have died from the effects of the critter-injected liquid death flowing through me.
To truly comprehend allow a black widow spider to inject its venom into you.
