not sure the exact date of sign on but as of 11:30pm March 8, 2013 KBJO is on the air with CW programming, mapping to 21.1 st_moose (talk) 05:25, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An FCC filing says that KBJO-LD "re-commenced broadcast operations March 7, 2013," which is the same day the call sign was assigned to the former K16KF-D; of course, any prior operation of K16KF-D was nominal at most, whereas KBJO now seems to be on for real. But no other sources exist other than the website for "The CW St. Joseph," the local version of The CW Plus, which shows "digital 21.1" below the "CW 6" logo where presumably it once said "digital 26.3." (The rest of the site seems untouched from when Suddenlink Communications ran it as "WBJO;" the similarity of that faux call sign, which dates back to The WB 100+, to KBJO is of note.) Even the co-owned St. Joseph News-Press doesn't seem to have said much about their own new sign-on. The aforementioned lack of sources make updating this article difficult… --WCQuidditch 01:12, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it turns out a March 5 News-Press article about KNPN-LD's high definition upgrades (it was already HD for its main "Fox 26" channel, but now all four program streams that were originally on channel 26 have gone/are going HD) stated that when the dust settled, The CW would indeed be on 21.1 (matching that logo on that CW Plus site; oddly, the article claimed that in a transitional phase CW fare would be on "16.1," which either is a typo or an indication that someone momentarily forgot about KTAJ-TV; as KTAJ is virtual channel 16, an RF channel 16 in St. Joseph — which KBJO is — must use virtual channel 21, as 21 is KTAJ's RF channel), and that Telemundo would ultimately move from KNPN-LD 26.4 to channel 30.1, which in turn would appear to solve the mystery of what KNPG-LD is going to show (KNPG is licensed to operate on RF channel 30, and unlike at KBJO-LD there is no conflict with any nearby virtual channel 30s. For what it's worth, though, KNPG, which changed from K30ND-D on March 19, has not informed the FCC of any resumption of operations [though, again, it is licensed but any prior operation was likely nominal], and the News-Press did state that once the CW upgrade [KBJO launch] was completed 26.3 would show Telemundo until channel 30 signs on). Articles should be updated accordingly… in fact, I'd go as far as to suggest that the contents of KNPN-LD3 should be merged here, as channel 26.3 will close in the end, and KBJO is the successor in interest to "WBJO" (as if that similarity in real and fake call signs didn't give that away). --WCQuidditch 04:12, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article merge with KNPN-LD3

[edit]

Due to the transfer of CW programming to KBJO-LD from KNPN-LD's third digital subchannel (as mentioned in the post above), the KNPN-LD3 article should be combined with the KBJO-LD article. KBJO apparently carries the same on-air branding used as a cable-only CW Plus affiliate and as a digital subchannel of KNPN-LD. In addition, both articles have had update notices since April 2013, and since the two articles are directly related it makes sense to combine the information from both into a single article under the KBJO-LD nameplate. Requested move 1 November 2016

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: WP:BOLD closing. Received no reply, and another RM opened (below) after the two proposed pages were moved. Please do not open another RM just because the target pages were moved. (non-admin closure) — Andy W. (talk) 04:33, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

– Due to KBJO-LD, virtual channel 21, changing its callsign to KNPG-LD and acquiring the NBC affiliation on November 1, 2016, KBJO-LD should be renamed KNPG-LD. The current Wikipedia page KNPG-LD refers to the station now known as KBJO-LD, the callsign which was given to the Telemundo affiliate, broadcasting on virtual channel 30, on November 1, 2016. Requested move 6 November 2016

The result of the move request was: moved. -- Tavix (talk) 14:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

– KBJO-LD, virtual channel 21 in St. Joseph, MO, changed its callsign to KNPG-LD and primary network affiliation to NBC effective November 1. KNPG-LD, Telemundo affiliate on virtual channel 30, changed its callsign to KBJO-LD on November 1, 2016. A move request had already been initiated to move the pages from their old callsigns to their new callsigns; however, another user moved the pages during the 7 day discussion period to generic titles of NBC St. Joseph and Telemundo St. Joseph. This move request is to preserve the edit histories of the pages with their respective stations. KansasCity (talk) 18:44, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Move to correct call signs'. See no sourced directly indicating these changes in call signs/letters. However, it is against Wikipedia:Naming conventions (broadcasting) for them to be named something other than their call signs plus designation (-AM, -FM, -TV, -DT, -CD, etc.). @Andy M. Wang: should not have closed the above move nor attempt to shut down another RM due to a incorrect move by the bold but uninformed editor, @Anabate:. Also, the branding is just for its primary subchannel (.1) not all subchannels ("KNPG" .2 subchannel is branded as "St. Joseph CW 6"), so these of network based branding should not be incorrectly used. Nor are subchannels considered general separately notable outside of its station. There a number of Saint Joseph communities in the US, so another reason to use the call signs given the possibility of another "St. Joseph 6" existing. @Spshu: Thanks for the ping. The closure above was a technical one in the sense that RMCD bot cannot list two simultaneously open RMs on the same page; it marks one as malformed, which is undesirable. Consider posting at WP:RMT to request an uncontroversial move back to the original page. As for the editor who opened a second RM, it was unnecessary despite page moves during the RM, per WP:MULTI, and also because folks at RMCD will be able to track how the pages have been moved, and the RM at opening still stands. In retrospect, perhaps I should have closed this second newer RM for earlier closure involving the first one, but I'd leave this for now. Hope that makes sense. Also, I'd support the suggested moves here per WP:NC-BC. — Andy W. (talk) 20:18, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Spshu: Here is the direct link to the FCC showing the current callsign of the former KBJO-LD is now KNPG-LD. [1]. KansasCity (talk) 22:55, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

KNPG-CD?

[edit]

I looked on RabbitEars this morning and saw that KNPG, KCJO, and KNPN no longer have the -LD suffix and have the -CD suffix (Class A). I am going to dive deeper into this before I move the pages.

I found proof that this happened. From an FCC press release or something.
