esrb ratings for confirmation and/or addition of songs
[edit]Recently the ESRB ratings for the game came out: https://www.esrb.org/ratings/38777/Just+Dance+2023/
In the cited lyrics there are two songs cited; one is Telephone by Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce [And I'm sippin' on that bub] and the other is Majesty by Apashe ft. Wasiu [Exhale now I look like a smoker]. Is this reliable enough to confirm the "Telephone" entry in the tracklist, as well as to add Majesty? While technically the song in which these lyrics are from are not confirmed, it appears that these are the only songs where these lyrics appear. Arsoniel (talk) 14:00, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm neutral on this. Wikipedia is a bit more strict with sourcing otherwise I'd to it. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 15:27, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Citations and Leaks
[edit]I suggest that we should refrain from citing information that does not totally confirm a particular song's inclusion in-game unless confirmed by an official and reliable source. This is to maintain accuracy and making the article reliable.
In Therefore I Am's case, the information cited was reliable and legitimate as the site redirected is an official online store and retailer and the pictures included in the site are trademarked by Ubisoft. Haveyouseenthisboy (talk) 20:49, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia is NOT a game guide
[edit]Wikipedia is not a game guide. We cannot list every individual mode/mashup/etc. available. Please read the Wikiproject Video Games guidance on inappropriate content, and specifically #6. Thank you. Haveyouseenthisboy (talk) 10:20, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Page protection
[edit]Please protect this page. We are constantly messing with the page by changing things the way they are, adding unsourced or poorly sourced content, edit warring and just thinking what they believe in, and by that, I mean: adding songs that have not been confirmed for the game, which we shouldn't be doing, only Ubisoft does. We just add these to get them moving because we really wanted the songs to be in the game so badly, which needs to stop now. 216.154.16.112 (talk) 18:31, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- You can request it at WP:RFP. I don't think it's reached a level where that's needed yet. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 19:05, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
Controversy regarding it being digital only
[edit]Hello! As a pretty active player of the just dance series I was reading that there was some news saying that this years just dance game would be only a digital release of the game. Would it be notable to talk about the controversy? RoseWaterSkies (talk) 15:11, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Is it really controversial though? I haven't seen any huge notable backlash covered by reliable sources, plus it's normal for games to be digital only. If you can find articles that say it's controversial then maybe a section could be needed, or possibly just a mention in the critical reception section. Otherwise, it's not notable or controversy. Season 1: Lover Coaster
[edit]Hello guys! Just a heads up, a new season is starting very soon so we‘ll have to edit the pages more frequently. Thanks and have a nice day. Brachy08 (Never Gonna Give You Up, Never Gonna Let You Down) 08:09, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
GA nomination
[edit]Hi Brachy0008, I see you nominated the article for good article status. From a quick glance, it fails that right away.
- It has too much primary sources
- The long list of songs looks very WP:GAMEGUIDE to me
- There's very little development
- There's barely any reception

You should start a review for this, and say that. Just quick fail the thing and get it over with. QuicoleJR (talk) 00:09, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
- It is reasonably well written.
- a. (prose, spelling, and grammar):
- b. (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
- Article's lead section contains original information that is not expanded upon in the prose of the article (i.e. Stadia), "Gameplay" section is written from the perspective of someone familiar with the franchise (what are "dancer cards"?) and contains plot information, lists are probably too extensive, instead of a Development section we have a "Future" section at the end which won't hold up, Reception section is empty.
- a. (prose, spelling, and grammar):
- It is factually accurate and verifiable.
- a. (reference section):
- Gameplay section is largely uncited.
- b. (citations to reliable sources):
- Extensive use of primary Twitter sources and "Ubisoft News". (Q&A interview link seems broken too?)

- d. (copyvio and plagiarism):

- It is broad in its coverage.

- Pass/fail:
- Quick fail. I hope you will continue to work on this article. In particular, I recommend expanding the Reception section with text from the reviews listed on Metacritic. I also recommend rewriting the Gameplay/Plot sections from the perspective of someone unfamiliar with the franchise. Lastly, I will say that footnotes like "Free from 27 February to 9 March" are completely pointless on Wikipedia. We are not a listing for good deals. Best of luck, I'm sorry I couldn't be more positive on this one!

The Xbox One digital release
[edit]Although the Just Dance series stop their releases on Xbox One starting this game, the game however is on Xbox One, but digitally. I want to add the game's Xbox One digital release on the page. Where should I add it if 2023 Edition-onwards are not released on Xbox One through disc anymore? Chidie345 (talk) 09:38, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- This game is not on Xbox One, per the sources in the article. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 17:14, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- Actually, this game is on Xbox One, but digitally. I saw it in the search results. Check it out yourself to see proof. Chidie345 (talk) 20:36, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- which means it can only be downloaded. Chidie345 (talk) 20:45, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- There is no physical release of this game on any console and this game is not available on Xbox One. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/just-dance-2023-edition/9NNF99GPP4XW CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 22:11, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- The game is likely buyable and downloadable, but it won't be playable. I turned on my XBOX One to check. It says right there on top of $59.99 that, "not playable on this device." It's unfortunate and short sighted by Microsoft and Ubisoft for sure. Supermann (talk) 00:07, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- I think that's just how the Xbox Store works, it shows you all Xbox games regardless of system. Either way, we've established it's not on the Xbox One so nothing about this needs to be added to the article. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 00:27, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

Split proposed
[edit]Since Just Dance 2024 Edition is being marketed and sold as a separate game I see no reason for it to continue to be housed on this page. All of the references on the page relating to JD2024 describe it as a separate title and it even has its own separate ESRB rating. I don’t think continuing to have it on this page is needed given how it is promoted and it is just confusing. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 18:20, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Furthermore, one editor boldly removed content from 2024 Edition Brachy08 (Talk) 23:19, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Legacy tracks
[edit]this needs to be updated.
and how about splitting the tracks so there is a legacy tracks section for tracks coming to a subscription service for the first time and a returning tracks for songs that featured in Just Dance unlimited.
Not sure where you would put the JD2022 / JD2016+ songs that for unknown reasons weren't included in unlimited. OliverRoads (talk) 22:38, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- We’d put the JD2016+ songs not in Unlimited to the legacy tracks section. Brachy08 (Talk) 22:39, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Per WP:GAMEGUIDE the section should be removed entirely. There are no reliable secondary sources backing up the tracklist so I don’t think it’s notable for inclusion on Wikipedia. It’s in WP:TMI territory. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 17:12, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think it should be split into a separate page for Just Dance + . The one thing I hate about Wikipedia is you need reliable sources to cite info. OliverRoads (talk) 20:05, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- Without that policy anyone could claim anything and that would defeat the purpose of the site. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 17:03, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

"Crunch culture" and NOR violations by Colombian IPs
[edit]Edits such as this one by Colombian IP Special:Contributions/186.30.93.183 have introduced the idea of crunch culture forced on the development team. This is supported by the cited source.
Later embellishments of this idea involve violations of WP:NOR. This version plopped new ideas into the article, supported by an empty citation reading "Evidenced in concept art and old assets found on the files." That is classic original research. Another new idea was that the UbiArt Framework engine was changed to the Unity (game engine), but that bit is not found in the cited source at all.
New user Quehipchip made the same assertion, using the same wording as Colombian IP Special:Contributions/190.26.210.43. You must stop these edits which are against policy. Binksternet (talk) 00:00, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't know my contributions were against a Wikipedia policy. I apologize, I won't make these edits anymore. Quehipchip (talk) 01:08, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
