Image copyright problem with Image:Wilburys.jpg
[edit]The image Image:Wilburys.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

re Proposed Deletion
[edit]I believe that simply deleting this article would not be the best outcome. As a specialist in late 60's & 70's Rock, I find this article to be important, not trivial. Perhaps a better way of framing the discussion would be to look at the merits of condensing this article, and merging it into The Beatles or Jeff Lynne.
The content of the article describes the influence of The Beatles on Jeff Lynne in the late 60's, and his collaboration with the Fab 4, and influence on them later on. Surely, this is a case study in the inner workings of the creative process in music, and in the arts more generally.
I think it would be a pity if this content were lost altogether.CaesarsPalaceDude (talk) 10:28, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Jeff Lynne and the Beatles → Jeff Lynne and The Beatles – "The" is part of the proper name "The Beatles", and as such should be capitalised. Rob Sinden (talk) 08:43, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
- Support. as Rob says, "The" is part of the proper name. 173.160.224.84 (talk) 15:18, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

- Ah, okay, seems my suggestion falls foul of the MoS on this one. I think the MoS is mistaken, but it seems it's already been done to death, so I'm not going to rock the boat. --Rob Sinden (talk) 08:12, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
- Comment, I don't see that this is supported by common use. See books search results in books for "and the beatles". Lynne mainly worked with individual Beatles.

Merge with the Jeff Lynne article?
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- Merged. Unsourced content not copied over. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 13:20, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
Why exactly does this need to be a separate article from the Jeff Lynne one? 89.243.125.209 (talk) 07:00, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- I believe it contains quite a bit of information that would take too much space on the Jeff Lynne article, but that is relevant enough to be on Wikipedia in general. I'd support merger if it come be done without overwhelming the Jeff Lynne article while maintaining all or most of the information. Firenexus13 (talk) 23:53, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm sure Jeff has a lot of respect for (and has done a lot of work with) The Beatles. However, I don't see how these two articles can be merged.—Bde1982 (talk) 16:36, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think if it can be merged without loosing too much information it should be. Someone looking for ELO, Jeff Lynne, or Beetles information would have a hard time finding it as a separate page. Intelquackcore (talk) 13:40, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed, just a simple extra subsection on Jeff's article would suffice. FullyNatural (talk) 20:52, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with FullyNatural just above. A section in the main Jeff Lynne page is adequate. BTW, the article on its own looks rather odd. 5.171.46.101 (talk) 07:54, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

- Merger complete. Since Jeff Lynne is a biography of a living person and subject to WP:BLPSOURCE, I could not copy over the majority of the content from this article as it was unverified. Feel free to ping me with any questions! —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 13:20, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
