NFL Captain Positions
[edit]The article contains an uncited claim that Brewer served as a special teams captain for three different franchises. Before 2007, the role of NFL team captain did not formally exist in its current form, although before that time teams could unofficially appoint captains, and since time immemorial one or more team members have always been sent out to represent the team during the pre-game coin toss ceremony. There is no proof that Brewer ever served as a team captain, although conversely there is no proof that he never served as a captain. In any case, his brief career ended before the 2007 season. This claim should be deleted.Timothy Horrigan (talk) 18:05, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
Special Teams Statistics
[edit]The special teams statistics in this article appear at first glance to be at odds with the data is sources such as Pro Football Reference. I frankly was overly suspicious of those statistics because Mr Brewer was a little-known special-teams player who has been keeping a much higher profile during his post-NFL career as a businessman and political figure. And, also because he tends to exaggerate his accomplishments. However, it turns out that special team statistics are globally inconsistent with the numbers found in the standard sources, which only list defensive statistics related to regular plays from scrimmage. It is hard to find special teams statistics, but I was able to find a reliable source for his last full season, 2005. The Eagles did indeed credit him with 15 special team tackles, just like he claims: his Pro Football Record listing for that year apparently documents only the 3 tackles he made while filling in as a defensive back. Timothy Horrigan (talk) 23:07, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @TimothyHorrigan: Well, I was the one who found the 2005 source from the Eagles website and added it to this article (diff). I believe individual teams are the only ones who maintain special teams statistics like that, and if I remember correctly, a "tackle" by the Eagles' standards is not consistent with how the NFL records them. Team-specific special teams stats judge a "tackle" as whichever player was closest to a fair catch punt, for example. Due to these inconsistencies, it may be best to indicate in the article that "according to the Eagles, he made 15 special teams tackles" or something along those lines. Professor
[edit]According to Brewer's website:
- "Currently Brewer serves as a professor at the Gabelli Business School at Fordham University where he leads the newly launch Executive MBA Program for Athletes and Artist (2019)."

[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus that the article subject is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for Jack Brewer. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 21:52, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Jack Brewer (American football) → Jack Brewer – Jack Brewer currently does much more than play football and therefore the title should be more broad. With American Football in the title, it excludes all of his professional and humanitarian work. - Oppose. There are five men listed upon the Jack Brewer disambiguation page, with little indication that the renown of the sports celebrity exceeds the combined notability of the remaining four men. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 04:36, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Very few sources, subjective descriptions
[edit]Practically no sources cited throughout entire article. Lot of bold claims that seem subjective in nature, in addition to being vague. Skeptical of the whole Merrill Lynch and business success section. 75.118.46.200 (talk) 03:30, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
