The piece of land on which Ho Tung Lau was situated was not bought by Ho Tung. It was bought by hia adopted son, Ho Sai Wing. Ho Tung has never visited that house. I, Leung Hung Kee, am the grand-daughter of Ho Sai Wing can tell you that the truth can be found from land search.137.189.190.66 (talk) 06:10, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

A lot of the original article is wrong. Firstly as mentioned by above, Ho Tung never actually owned or visited the place. Rather it is owned by Ho Sai Wing, Ho Tung's adopted son, as confirmed in a Land registry search in 2009. https://web.archive.org/web/20190811095232/http://hkhiso.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/history/node/5969 The area Ho Sai Wing actually purchased contains two lots, DD177 lot 374 (partial) and lot 380.

Secondly, "Ho Tung Lau" was not referred to an area (at least on paper) until 1966. https://web.archive.org/web/20190811095232/http://hkhiso.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/history/node/5969

After searching through old map surveys and aerial photos from the 1920s to 70s, the old site of Ho Tung Lau (the mansion itself) is very clearly at present day approx bock 2-6 of Jubilee Gardens (the ZH article also confirms it). Justinl21 (talk) 04:01, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
