Certifications
[edit]The certifications are as follows
What you aiting for-Platinum Rich Girl-2x Platinum Hollaback Girl-5x platinum Cool-gold luxurious-gold wind it up-gold the sweet escape feat. akon-platinum
for reerence, please visit each songs article page.please do not keep on deleting the above inforrmation from the dicography page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.18.140.127 (talk) 15:33, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a reference. To add information to any article, you need to provide a reference. Please read Wikipedia:Citing sources. ShadowHalo 15:26, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
The red triangle beside shows that the sweet escape hav been certified platinum. See http://www.mediatraffic.de/tracks.htm —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.224.9.167 (talk) 10:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- No, the red triangle indicates that it has two million points. It has nothing to do with certification. ShadowHalo 15:43, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
The singles charting table should mention New Zealand and Canada if it can mention Germany and Netherlands. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.224.39.202 (talk)
- Why? The world music market article lists Germany as the fourth largest singles market and the Netherlands as number seven. Neither New Zealand nor Canada are even in the top fifteen. ShadowHalo 00:58, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Canada is at number 6 if we talk about albums...n overall at number 7 n Stefani hav 2 number 1s in that country —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.224.20.61 (talk)
- The Canadian positions are included, but unsourced, for the albums. For the singles, Canada doesn't make up a large share of the market, so there's no need to include it. ShadowHalo 17:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I have removed the asterix from 4 in the morning because it has been released now.I hope there is nothing wrong with it.
United World Chart Points
[edit]The UWC points of Evanescence's singles are mentioned. Why it is not done for Gwen Stefani's singles? User:luxurious.gaurav
- No reference has been provided for the UWC points. ShadowHalo 19:56, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
The red triangle with 2 in front of it shows that the sweet escape song has more than 4.000.000 sales.is that enough?http://www.mediatraffic.de/tracks.htm
I could see nowhere else to find the exact number of UWC points.I wonder from where Evanescence's singles got those figures.Do u have any idea? User:luxurious.gaurav
- Well, in a couple of weeks, "The Sweet Escape" will be gone from the charts, so there won't be any way to verify that the red triangle was there. I'm not sure where the UWC points came from, though I've seen a lot of statistics like these sourced to ukmix.org forums (which can't be used as references since forums are unreliable sources). ShadowHalo 08:41, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
That is so true, but even when we know that the song has been certified 2x red triangle or whatever for 4.000.000+ sales worldwide,we cant put it up there.Let us keep the UWC points aside, but we should atleast know how much the single has sold, which we know is 4 million plus, but there is no way to put it up there?Rich Girl and Hollaback Girl both has those red riangle with a 2 in front of it when they were active on UW chart, but we cant source it.We have the knowledge but can't share it.Feels sad. User:luxurious.gaurav
- I have been requestiong for the deletion of the UWC points on Evanescence's discography in the discussion page of the evanescence discography article.ShadowHalo, you do it.I don't want to get into it. User: Luxurious.gaurav
3,476,550 according to worldwidealbums.net
- As far as i remember, the site has been proven to be bloggish. Indianescence 16:41, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Deletion
[edit]i just saw that this article is going to be deleted because in the discussion, people are saying that Gwen has only one album so the article should be Delted.I think Gwen has two solo albums. Why are they going to delete it.Please see in to this matter ShadowHalo. User:luxurious.gaurav
- That's an archived discussion, and the article was deleted a long time ago. It was recreated after Stefani released a second album. ShadowHalo 19:57, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
What has happened to the table
[edit]It is completely broken and why is Russia coming in the table. Luxurious.gaurav
Its again broken. Can anyone mend it? User:luxurious.gaurav
Bolding "1" on the table is against rules.User:Luxurious.gaurav 18:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Why is Japan included in the table? What is the point of adding it when none of her singles have even charted there, and why put the minor Billboard dance chart in there? NRS11 07:38, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Can i ask why those countries are in the table...like it's not like Gwen is popular in them or something like that, world, usa, uk, canada, australia, new zealand, europe...those chart positions should be there?!
- Possible reasons why a country is missing:
- The single/albums never charted in the country
- The chart results are not available, or could not otherwise be located
- The album/single was never released in the country.
- There is no reason to say country X or Y is less relevant unless there is an actual need to trim the table or really important country for which information is available are not included.

Potential reference
[edit]I've been searching, but I still can't find any static, reliable reference for The Sweet Escape's sales. The United World Chart is the closest thing available, but it's useless once the album leaves the chart. One way to still use it would be through the Wayback Machine, but it hasn't archived the page since March 12, when it hadn't sold 2 million yet. I would recommend keeping an eye on the page so that it can be used as a reference if it archives the page before The Sweet Escape leaves the chart. ShadowHalo 23:05, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
I Can see a page of May 24 and it shows that the sweet escape has sold 2 million+ User:Luxurious.gaurav
- Whoops, I mentioned it at the FLC but not here. I found an archive of the United World Chart, so there's now a permanent link to the first week that it had a triangle for selling 2 million. ShadowHalo 16:37, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Album Sales
[edit]If you look at MediaTraffic and add up all the points for The Album The Sweet Escpape, it is clearly over 2,950,000 she did not sell 2 million, she sold about 3,000,000
but we can't expect people to add. If u can please provide a proper reliable source which proves your point, then it will be added to the article. Thank You. User:Luxurious.gaurav
This Album has sold 3,7 million, can someone change it, please —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.7.161.51 (talk) 22:13, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Album Sales
[edit]Ok shut up luxurious person. add it up your self
- Yup, added it and it is much above 2 million. You're right. But, we can't expect readers to add all the weekly sales. The scource for Love.Angel.Music.Baby clearly mentions the number 7 million. A soon as a relevent site mentions that the sales of the Sweet Escape are 3 million, it will be put up in the article. User:Luxurious.gaurav

Sweet Escape
[edit]Ok im sorry, i will try to find a website
Sweet Escape sales
[edit]According to clickitaliansoftware, The Sweet Escape sold at least 2.9 million. I don't know how reliable this source is, but I noticed an editor has been adding this source in several hip hop discographies. Spellcast 16:03, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think it's been added to this article at least once, and I've seen the sourced added to other articles as well. Unfortunately though, clickitaliansoftware is a webhosting service, and the sites on it are self-published. 17Drew 16:10, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- I wonder how the people who run that site come across those numbers. Do they actually claim to receive first hand data or do they just estimate? Spellcast 16:18, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Seriously, and it is not just one site. There are tons of such sites and in many pages they are used as sources. And they are used so often, that most of the editors don't doubt their genuineness and feel that these sources are right. Well, i will try my level best to keep the pages on which i work on, free from such sources. Luxurious.gaurav 16:30, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- When it comes to fandom, there's some viral spread for "official" stuff that's otherwise difficult to find, so that the exact same material may be widely reported, but without a single original source to be found that could be cited. Circeus 17:12, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yes, and there are so many pages where excited fans have put some so called exact "UWC Points" of singles. And when asked for the source of the sales number, they say "Mediatraffic!". I mean, how can we expect people who visit Wikipedia to sit and add every week's points. And it's everywhere. I don't know, but i hate that so much. When i want to pass time, i will make a full list of pages which suffer from this "UWC Points disease". Luxurious.gaurav 17:25, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Clickitalian is now blacklisted. If you click "save page", it doesn't let you continue because it's now blacklisted by MediaWiki. So I unlinked the above URLs. Spellcast 12:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
the sweet escape sales are 3.4 million! http://www.worldwidealbums.net/2006.htm
- They probably are. But worldwidealbums is published through clickitaliansoftware, which allows anyone to create a site. Self-published sources are not reliable. 17Drew 00:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
RIAA certification
[edit]It says The Sweet Escape is Platinum, yet there are no results in the RIAA searchable database. Is it possible for an album to be certified without the RIAA listing it in their website? Spellcast 12:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yes, Hollaback Girl never went 5 x Platinum, it is only platinum. Type "Gwen Stefani" in the link provided by Spellcast. i.e searchable database this would lead to revision of all the articles. Luxurious.gaurav 03:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, it did go 5x platinum in this RIAA article. But it's not even shown in the searchable database and neither is The Sweet Escape. Spellcast 06:16, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for that link. The searchable database is very misleading. Luxurious.gaurav 12:38, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly, but I don't think the article should say the The Sweet Escape is Platinum if it's not recognised by the RIAA. I know it has obviously shipped at least 2 million units because it has sold over 2 million copies. But albums do not automatically get certified. It's up to the record company to officially apply for the plaque. I know this source says it is platinum, but I think the author meant that as another way of saying it sold at least 1 million copies. Spellcast 01:23, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's no reason to suspect that the RIAA doesn't recognize the certification, considering it's the only one in the U.S. that issues them. We've seen that the database isn't comprehensive, so there's no reason to disbelieve a publication stating that the album was certified. 17Drew 01:42, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's an RIAA article that shows the certifications for both albums. I guess that searchable database really is misleading. Spellcast 06:59, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]why don't use this page? Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad, Hilary's Dignity, Fergie' The Dutchess and Madonna's I'm Going to Tell You a Secret use this page....but The sweet escape no?

- None of those articles should be using it either. It's clearly doesn't meet the criteria for a reliable source. 17Drew 01:58, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- That's run by the same people behind worldwidealbums.tk, which is now blacklisted. I filed a new report and that link should be blacklisted soon. Spellcast 09:22, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Citations
[edit]As an example of Wikipedia's best work, all information here should of course come from reliable sources and be easily verifiable. As such, I'd like to ask you to follow the examples of Nine Inch Nails discography and 50 Cent discography and use inline citations for the chart data rather than just a reference at the end. Also, why is there no chart data for the albums? (I'm not saying I consider chart data essential to a discography, not at all, but it's curious that you would provide the data for only singles). --kingboyk (talk) 13:14, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- That citation issue was brought up at the FL nomination. It was said that inline citations would look distracting, especially in a table full of numbers. I prefer inline refs too but it's not required. The chart refs used to be in a separate "Notes" section, which is allowed per Wikipedia:REF#Maintaining_a_.22References.22_section_in_addition_to_.22Notes.22. But it was merged in this diff. Typo
[edit]The image caption is has "performing" misspelled as "preforming".
Can't edit it myself; hopefully someone else can. I just now created an account and am new 'round these parts, so pardon me if this post went into the wrong intertube.

Charts and their sources
[edit]I have dramatically reduced the number of charts used in the article. I gather the maximum to use is 10. The single table's charts are sourced, but the album table's charts are sourced by mariah-charts, which was described as unreliable in the removal discussion. I would source them, but I need to decided which charts to use first. Should the same charts be used in both tables or should the decisions be made independently based on the relative success in each country? I lean towards the former. My table-fu is not strong so I may need some help with formatting.
The lead I can do just fine. Tezkag, let's keep discussion here. -- EA Swyer Talk Contributions 20:41, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- I also lean towards the former. Tezkag72 (talk) 18:33, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Good, so which charts should be used? I noticed in the No Doubt discography that there are 14 charts for the albums and 10 for the singles. I'd prefer to use no more than ten as outlined here.
- For the singles: US (various charts), UK, CAN, AUS, NZ, other European charts
- These are all as English-speaking countries. Which European charts should we use? Largest markets or most successful ones? I'll check the positions for the countries above now for albums. -- EA Swyer Talk Contributions 22:00, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Featured topic
[edit]Should we add the "Gwen Stefani" article to the "Gwen Stefani albums" featured topic? It makes sense to do so, since she's the author of those albums and therefore related to the topic. Leptictidium (mt) 07:11, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
- The topic is just for albums. Yes, she's related to the topic but so are the singles. It's just albums. -- EA Swyer Talk Contributions 19:14, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned references in Gwen Stefani discography
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Gwen Stefani discography's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Old sales data and sources
[edit]The record sales numbers are old, and the sources old. They are undervalued with respect to certifications, for example the album "Love. Angel. Music. Baby" says that they sold 4,000,000 copies when the RIAA certified it with 5 platinum albums, meaning that it already sold 5,000,000 to achieve said certification (Source: [2]) , on the "More Details" tab it clearly says that on March 8, 2021 I achieved 5 Million receiving 5x Platinum certification.
The same thing happens with the album "The Sweet Escape", the old source says that it sold 1,733,000, when the RIAA certified it July 28, 2023 2x Platinum with 2,000,000 copies sold. (Source: [3])
I request that you review and change any outdated information. Greetings. Argentum 1976 (talk) 03:41, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
