first 35 tracks revealed

[edit]

http://kotaku.com/5555374/the-curtain-rises-on-guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock --Teancum (talk) 13:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious where they are getting that list - all the other announcements today have a shorter (24 song) list. --MASEM (t) 14:11, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to say that while Kotaku and Joystiq - semi-reliable sources - are reporting a 35 song reveal, no one else is. The official presser for this announcement [1] appears to only be 24 songs, the same that more reputable sources are using like Eurogamer, 1up, and IGN. Where the other 11 songs are coming from ( a special presser to those those sites?) needs to be identified. --MASEM (t) 17:15, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the official sources might not have gotten updated information yet... --grantyO (talk) 17:20, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The same press release is going to all the sources. The 11 songs that Kotaku has above that seem to be out of the blue. They may be right, or got a different press release. --MASEM (t) 17:24, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, well, if any other completely reliable sources update, let me know. --grantyO (talk) 17:29, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why wouldn't Kotaku be a reliable source? More and more sources are updating information. The 35 songs appear to be true with sources such as Examiner, That VideoGame Blog, GameKicker, GamrFeed, Xbox360Achievements, Giant Bomb, Regator, G4TV, and more, so I'm gonna go ahead and revert the edit to the past one if it already hasn't been done.GrantyO (talkcontribs) 20:54, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
None of those, except G4TV or possibly Giant Bomb, are reliable sources for the VG project. Alot are duplicating info from other sites. For example, the last bit of news which came from the OXM previews, some sites took that to mean Lars Ulrich was going to be in the game when clearly the magazine detailed it being Lars Umlaut. That got repeated and repeated around the net. Now, I did see that MTV (very reliable) has a clear report that includes the 35 songs, so we can use that instead of an unreliable source. --MASEM (t) 21:54, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that's great! By the way, I see you have an Xbox Live, do you mind if I add you? My gamertag is dominoperson.GrantyO (talkcontribs) 22:10, 4 June 2010

Touch Pad?

[edit]

I don't see a touch pad on the new controller. Did they remove it?

Riffrider (talk) 01:54, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it has been removed. UltimateSin01 (talk) 03:32, 8 June 2010 (UTC) i can confirm it because i have the controller.[reply]

Separation?

[edit]

When should we separate the the song list into its own page? I think at 75 songs. GrantyO (talkcontribs) 19:31, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date Changed

[edit]

According to the Guitar Hero website, the release date has been changed from September 20, 2010 to September 28, 2010. Can someone change this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GHRockerTaps09 (talkcontribs) 23:54, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anberlin

[edit]

You know if you read the article, it really sounds like Feel Good Drag will be on disc.

"it will be a featured song on the in-store version of “Guitar Hero 6,” due out this September."

I think it is meant to be the version of the game you buy in the store. Also the words "featured" and "version" support this. I think the author just worded it awkwardly.07:24, 20 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.243.184.248 (talk)

I think in-store should mean in the main setlist, because if some people don't have PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, they can't download it. GrantyO (talkcontribs) 22:44, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Slash in GHWOR?

[edit]

According to the Examiner (which Wikipedia has blocked so I can't supply a direct link) Slash will feature 2 songs in the next GH game: "Ghost" and "Were All Gonna Die" Could this be true? I can't find this story anywhere else. The article can be found here: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4ACGW_enUS359US359&q=guitar+hero+6+slash (click the first search result) ForeverItaliaX (talk) 14:56, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Examiner is an unreliable source which is why it was blocked. We'll need to wait for a reliable source to confirm if those tracks are true. --MASEM (t) 15:04, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2112 confirmed

[edit]

The Rush song 2112 has been confirmed here: http://hangout.altsounds.com/news/119235-rush-2112-and-moving-pictures-classic-albums.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.243.56.235 (talk) 21:51, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've read that article, done "Find" on it...and I see no mention of Guitar Hero. Can you point out the passage that supports this information? -- TRTX T / C 19:35, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I haven't gotten to it yet, but the article has been changed since posting, suggesting a mistake or too early of a reveal. Since the posted article doesn't mention it, we should remove it. [2] here's an account of why it was probably mistaken. --MASEM (t) 19:38, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here's another source at gamerlimit. So take it as you want. -- TRTX T / C 19:39, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's linking back to the altsounds article. So not really a new source. --MASEM (t) 19:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a video/article from Rollingstone.com, it confirms that 2112 will not only be in the game, but will be the final song. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/17386/183022Nieren (talk) 22:50, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't confirm it as a final song - a near-final one, for sure, but not the final. But yes, the full 7 parter 2112 is there and a few other details around that. --MASEM (t) 23:14, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2112 - One song or several

[edit]

With the official news out, the way I'm reading this is that Activision is considering 2112 to be 7 songs (one for each part of the original work); this is by on their presser for the news, and the fact that there are 3 different venues based on that song, plus how they have all the narration and story behind it. Due to this, I believe it is going to count as 7 songs on the soundtrack, not just one. I believe we need to split it on the soundtrack list but I seek additional input before doing this. --MASEM (t) 17:38, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention that it seems like they're doing the entire ALBUM, not just the first side. (too lazy to do legit reference tags, but http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_15568853?source=rss&nclick_check=1 http://www.crispygamer.com/blogs/post/2010/07/21/rush-2112-album-fully-playable-in-guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock.aspx and even http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LbhWwqhUSs continually use the word "album.") --98.28.163.142 (talk) 01:20, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

These sources are still vague enough - yes, I know one of the dev people said "bring an entire album" and the like, but in context there's many ways to read that statement. But, here is the official press release and it only confirms 7 parts of 2112 as being included in the game. Until the B-side of 2112 is confirmed, we can only state that the 2112 song is there. --MASEM (t) 12:41, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Black Widow of La Porte and Holy Wars... The Punishment Due

[edit]

http://inside.mygamercard.net/2010/06/30/kiss-your-way-through-these-guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock-achievements/ Take a look at the achievements "Giant Slayer" and "Hand Mutilator" on that list... also, "The Meek" confirms 2112 for real this time70.44.151.213 (talk) 11:51, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added these. Noting that only 2112 Part 4 is confirmed by the achievement. It's possible its the whole song, but only Part 4 is explicitly called out. --MASEM (t) 13:43, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Harmonies

[edit]

Look at the achievement "Poor Boys"... with 2 vocalists? Harmonies, maybe.grantyO (talk) 01:58, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt it. GH since 5 allows for multiple players on the same instrument, so two people doing vocals would be completely possible (unlike if it was RB, where there's only one "vocalist" and maybe two others for harmonies). --MASEM (t) 07:25, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, OK. --grantyO (talk) 16:27, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Feel Good Drag

[edit]

1- I think that it's obvious is gonna be in the game, unless the game features a soundtrack (songs played will in the cut-scenes) which would explain the three songs by Megadeth. 2- where are you getting the GH warriors of rock achievements? 3- Slash is in the game, we just need a reliable source to confirm this. "Ghost" is in the game from his new album —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.151.49.41 (talk) 22:05, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This day we fight confirmed

[edit]

1) i apologize for my un-reliable requests 2) i think This Day We Fight by Megadeth is confirmed because it was confirmed both on their facebook http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/Megadeth?ref=ts and their twitter http://twitter.com/Megadeth/status/17675765360 --Dlongrox67 (talk) 00:59, 4 July 2010 (UTC)dlongrox67[reply]

Bands are not reliable sources about the inclusion of their songs in the games. I'm not doubting that "This Day We Fight" will be in a Guitar Hero game at some point, but we cannot confirm if it's DLC for GH5, on disc or DLC for WOR. --MASEM (t) 01:04, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well since Dave Mustaine has been working close with Neversoft (i.e. Sudden Death) i belive it's true. Maybe a Megadeth related stage will be included in the game just like Tool in GH:WT. Ps. it's WOR, not WOW.--Dlongrox67 (talk) 01:10, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Setlist Act 1 Trailer

[edit]

I'm just confirming that [3] this "Setlist Act 1" trailer currently does not reveal any new songs we have tracked already. --MASEM (t) 05:44, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it does not show any new song but during "Been Caught Stealing" (1:25-1:36) black colored notes scroll down the drum highway. These notes do not appear anywhere else in the video but they do hint at some new gameplay mechanic. Speculators call these "ghost notes"; they are believed to signify a lighter drum hit (the opposite of the armored Velocity Note). ForeverItaliaX (talk) 20:17, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mayhem Festival Artists

[edit]

In a tweet that was displayed on the Mayhem Festival website's front page it stated that "some of our artists will be in the next guitar hero setlist." The artists most likely to have songs in the game will be Lamb Of God, Atreyu, Korn, and Shadows Fall because they have been on titles in the past.--Dlongrox67 (talk) 21:30, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{editsemiprotected}} The song "This Day We Fight" by Megadeth should be added to the list of songs because a news post on Megadeth's official website cited that both "Holy Wars...and the Punishment Due" and "This Day We Fight" were to be included in the upcoming Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. The news post can be viewed in the news archive under June 3, 2010 at [1]. ~~~~Zanemaster98

plus someone's added stairway to heaven and damage inc, both of which aren't even rumoured.61.69.175.226 (talk) 01:27, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Attn: GastroTV, look at the GameFaqs message boards for rumors of Damage, Inc. I grant the fact that Stairway is not rumored, we'll never get a Led Zeppelin and I can accept that. - MetMegFan (talk) 06:25, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know that "I Know What I Am", "Lasso", "Deadfall", "Unskinny Bop" and the two Slash songs (which both feature other artist that are not listed) have not been officially announced. But at this point, their rumours have been so pervasive that we might as well assume that they will be featured in the real setlist. On the off chance that are not real, we'll just remove them once the real list is entirely announced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ForeverItaliaX (talkcontribs) 22:39, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's not how sourcing works on WP. Until confirmed, rumors stay off the list. --MASEM (t) 22:52, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unskinny Bop and Deadfall are confirmed by the ESRP, but they just list the lyrics so we can't include them because that would be original research. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.243.184.248 (talk) 18:37, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Slash songs

[edit]

Just because they recorded the song with certain people for the album doesn't mean they could have a different recording on disk. --MASEM (t) 22:53, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUTnyHUwFH4&feature=related, Brian Bright himself quotes "We've never done anything as epic as, you know, putting an entire albulm in a game". So maybe Rush's 2112 album will be featured? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dlongrox67 (talkcontribs) 14:52, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The press release for 2112 only lists out the 7 parts of the song, but not the non-2112 song tracks. We cannot presume the whole album in the game. --MASEM (t) 15:05, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re-recordings

[edit]

In the Main Section it says, "Two songs, Alice Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and The Runaways' "Cherry Bomb", have been specifically re-recorded by the original bands for use in Warriors of Rock." Then in the setlist right below it, it has a note on both songs, saying they were re-recorded. This seems to be redundant and unnecessary. CheddarBBQ (talk) 17:50, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

plus, this confirms pretty much the Feel Good Drag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVxicXjT9zk —Preceding unsigned comment added by GastroTV (talkcontribs) 21:41, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's no way to confirm this. Is it legit? Very likely , but WP requires reliable sources, which youtube immediately is not. --MASEM (t) 21:46, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point but do keep the setlist in mind. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.35.13.115 (talk) 22:03, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
GastroTV, please watch your attitude. Youtube is top on the list of the unreliable sources that WP will not use. Please understand this for the future. MetMegFan (talk) 04:39, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Activision is mad

[edit]

I uploaded the videos and got me a strike and deleted them for copyright, they sent me a message, the setlist is legit, but wasn't supposed to be uploaded! look for the video, its been removed, yes "The Feel Good Drag" was not played live. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GastroTV (talkcontribs) 22:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Almost full setlist revealed

Around 20 new songs confirmed including Orianthi, Nickelback, R.E.M., Red Rider and more. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anaccountforpages (talkcontribs) 18:02, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Same problem as above youtube source (in fact I think it's effectively the same video). These video sites with unproven authors are unreliable for this information. --MASEM (t) 18:10, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about

[edit]

previous Guitar Heroes have had a list of "possible songs" maybe we could do that... —Preceding unsigned comment added by GastroTV (talkcontribs) 20:57, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We want to wait until the full set list is published in one single source, so that it is all confirmed and the like. Right now we can't do that even with the leaked track list. --MASEM (t) 21:10, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article for 'Speeeding'

I could only 'view source' when I posted that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 900bv (talkcontribs) 22:24, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
that song page could probably do with some fleshing out. there isn't really anything on there.59.101.127.133 (talk) 09:59, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Hey Masem, can I make the List of songs in Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock article now? Cause there's not a lot more songs to go. --grantyO (talk) 18:31, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wait until the game is released. Right now, there are not size issues to require a separate list article. -MASEM (t) 01:39, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
am i the only one that finds that to be weird logic considering the gh metallica article has a seperate page for its song list, despite having about half the number of songs? going by number of screens the gh6 list so far is also about the same length as the whole metallica song list page.59.101.127.133 (talk) 09:57, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just a Note

[edit]

I have heard recent rumors that GHWOR will feature the ability to import the entire setlists of GH5, GHSH, GHWT and GH Metallica. I cannot prove any of this but just keep and eye on the subject. It could mean why finally get the whole GH collection in one game! ForeverItaliaX (talk) 01:19, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

not sure about more from the other games, but there's been hints of a ghm import (though the references on the import pages on the gh community site were removed the day after they were noticed).59.101.127.133 (talk) 10:02, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Setlist Act 3

[edit]

http://www.ultimate-guitar.tv/music_videos/guitar_hero_warriors_of_rock_-_the_set_list_act_3.html Hey, new songs confirmed. I can't do refs etc. that well so can someone add the new stuff. 900bv (talk) 14:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Will add in a bit. --MASEM (t) 14:32, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, done - about half of them listed we knew confirmed from last week but this at least confirms the Slash one that people have been trying to add... --MASEM (t) 15:25, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Custom characters

[edit]

Will GHWOR allow players to make their own avatars? 75.68.200.217 (talk) 04:55, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thre is no confirmation of this, but reading between lines, it suggests that there won't be. --MASEM (t) 05:12, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Correction! According to Toymachine's video (the one originally used to confirm Again by Flyleaf) Quest mode will have the player using the chapter-specific character backed by a band of randomly generated characters (like in GHWT). Quickplay plus will give you the ability to play with a custom character though. ForeverItaliaX (talk) 13:34, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seperating the setlist to it's own page?

[edit]

Since the setlist is complete and confirmed, and DLC for the game is starting to be revealed, shouldn't the setlist get it's own page like past main series Guitar Hero pages? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.108.12 (talk) 20:15, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's no size issues presently with this article. Once the game comes out and we can address a reception section - which should also back a reception for the soundtrack article - then moving it makes sense. --MASEM (t) 20:59, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Import

[edit]

Any news on the cost of GH5 import songs? or do we have to pay to download the songs we've already downloaded from World Tour, Smash Hits and Band Hero? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.151.45.5 (talk) 22:00, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

all the imports that are available already work in gh6 (and no you don't have to pay again for anything you've already exported for gh5/bh). there might be more imports (eg metallica) but there still hasn't been any announcements about it. 61.68.27.237 (talk) 04:57, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ghm import confirmed! anyone wanna add?59.101.70.182 (talk) 12:45, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Genres

[edit]

We know the genres through this video http://theherofeed.com/guitar-hero-warriors-of-rock-setlist/ so i was wondering if you could add genres —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.177.136.67 (talk) 14:57, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As the game is not released, there is no way a video capture can be a reliable source for genres. --MASEM (t) 15:02, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Complete List of DLC

[edit]

The current way of presenting GH:WoR's DLC is not very well arranged. There should be a complete list of all the songs available for download, including both GH:WT and GH5 songs. A new Wikipedia article would be the most appropriate way of doing this (cf. Rock Band's DLC articles). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.11.57.162 (talk) 21:47, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter/Facebook/Wii Cheevos

[edit]

http://www.thetanooki.com/2010/09/12/guitar-hero-6-to-feature-facebook-and-twitter-integration/ pretty self-explanitory, I've seen this from several sources but this is the first one that shows up on a Google search ForeverItaliaX (talk) 01:40, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph reminder!

[edit]

I know Europeans are getting the game today, but I don't know if they get the new controller with it as well. Otherwise, this will need to wait until NA gets it.

If you did get the new controller and you can take photographs, please do so and upload the picture through Commons so that we can replace the non-free promo photo. (I believe the same can be said for the drum kit, but that's less an issue than the new guitar since we don't have a drum image presently) --MASEM (t) 19:52, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Genre?

[edit]

I guess you can remove the "genre" section in the Downloadable Content or make the box bigger —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.155.16.235 (talk) 19:08, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ref ^b: Song does not have parts for one or more instruments.

[edit]

I noticed the reference "^b" for the setlist describes itself as meaning that the song it is tied to is missing one or more parts. After a thorough search I note that none of the songs have ref ^b applied to them. I would assume that they are supposed to apply to the 2112 songs, but can anyone confirm this and possibly fix it. Jim42jim42 (talk) 12:23, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Setlist is fixed

[edit]

I finished editing the setlist just like the my game menu, with all the corrected genres, years and even if it has double bass support. I don't know why some songs are listed in different years than the original studio release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4lic (talkcontribs) 13:38, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As long as that's the way they are listed in game, that's what we use. That likely means when they were rerecorded (in the case of two songs for sure), or live version, or other master set. --MASEM (t) 13:41, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Issues found

[edit]
  • The gameplay section is poorly sourced, with only two references for four paragraphs. I would say with that amount of content at least 8 sourcings are needed
  • The two images in transition to the Game modes section are messy, and the first paragraph in the Game modes section is long and daunting. I recommend right justifying the first image, breaking up the first paragraph of Game modes at the sentence "Mid-way through the Quest...", then moving the Rush image to that paragraph, left justify. That should break up that section
  • Reference #42, OXMUK's wikilink is a redlink. Link to Official Xbox Magazine
  • Aggregate scores (along with the accessdate) need updating.
  • Is there no official website? I don't see one listed, but if there is it should be added
  • File:Gh wor cover.jpg should use {{Video game cover fur}}
  • There are a few disambig links as well

Don't see much else at the moment. Feel free to fix existing issues, but I'm still

Done finding issues'

Reviewer: Teancum (talk) 14:13, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to start tackling these in the next day or so but here's a question: Pretty much most of the sources I can recall off hand say "GH:WOR plays like the rest of the games in the series" and are mum on specifics, only going into what's changed. As the details of how the game is played really hasn't changed and I can source that, and would be the type of information I would not consider controversial, I'm thinking that if I use refs that assert the repetitiveness of gameplay sprinkled with other refs that address specific points, this should cover it. --MASEM (t) 00:11, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. I didn't find anything else, so as soon as these are fixed we can pass the article. --Teancum (talk) 00:14, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I've tackled the details above, including the use of a few sources to summarize that this is the same gameplay from previous games. --MASEM (t) 20:54, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary subheading under "Reception"

[edit]

(I am viewing this page on the mobile app.) Hi, I noticed while reading this page that, under the Reception section, there seems to be a centred subheading also labeled "Reception". Is this really necessary? I would also add that it displays oddly in landscape orientation, being stuck to the right side of the article with whitespace to its immediate left and right.

I'd try and fix it myself, WP:BOLD and all that (yes, this is my second edit, I spent a while lurking on metapages), but I can't seem to find the heading in the edit window. Could someone help/do it? If not, why? Thanks in advance. 49.195.15.52 (talk) 22:30, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
