Low Importance?

If the Low Importance classification of this article does not seem accurate to you, I suggest reading an archived discussion that explains the distinctions between Low, Mid-, High, etc. -- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rock music/Archive 1#Importance scale. At some point in the future, I might make a case for elevating articles about up-and-coming bands such as Greta Van Fleet from Low to Mid-Importance.   - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 07:39, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

Adding articles for members of the group.

I have noticed that the members of the band do not have their own articles as of right now. I think that they have accomplished enough to warrant them but I am curious as to what everyone else things. Khscarymovie4 (talk) 03:47, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

There were articles for each band member but they were removed because the Kiszka brothers and Danny Wagner had not yet achieved the notability required for a biography article of a living person. I initially opposed removing the articles, but a more experienced Wikipedian explained the relevant policies. He was spot on so I agreed with the decision. I suggest reading all the relevant policy and guideline articles. Start at WP:BLP and as always, ask for help if you're not sure. (As you did, Khscarymovie4).   - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 01:58, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Please remove the last sentence of the middle paragraph in the "Music and influences" section regarding Robert Plant. Here is the interview in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePIAaQwYMaM. As you can see, Robert Plant is clearly not a fan of the band and never calls him one of their favorite bands. 204.136.21.141 (talk) 18:01, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Not done: That sentence is about Plant's influence on the band it doesn't say anything about Plant being a fan of the band. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 20:53, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Acutally I'm sorry I found the sentance you were talking about but I'm still going to have to decline the request as it is properly sourced see here Also the reliable source in the article lines up with the YT link you provided even where he refers to the band as "Led Zeppelin I". ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 21:03, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Robert Plant's opinion of the band

Some folks disagree with the current one-sentence summary of Robert Plant's statements (opinion) about Greta Van Fleet from an Australian media interview, which is in the article's Music and influences section. Here is that sentence:

In a March 2018 interview, Plant cited Greta Van Fleet as one of his favorite up-and-coming bands, saying "they are Led Zeppelin I" and describing Josh as "a beautiful little singer."

I reverted a recent edit that removed the sentence (diff). I believe the current sentence accurately coveys Mr. Plant's opinion of the band. When Plant says, "I hate them", he is exhibiting his characteristic wry, sarcastic humor, i.e., he doesn't literally hate Josh Kiszka. What do you think?   - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 18:09, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

You are exactly right, that hate was sarcasm. dannymusiceditor oops 21:50, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

EP/Album labels

An editor has been altering this, but we need to stick to what sources say on the matter.

As Allmusic verifies, From the Fires is not classified as an album, but as a "double EP". It's 4 songs from a prior EP, (Black Smoke Rising), and 4 newly recorded songs. It's a pairing of two EPs worth of material. It is not classified as their first studio album. Sergecross73 msg me 18:10, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

It is a full-length release. Sources will likely differ on EP or album. Spotify lists From the Fires as an album, but does not list the previous EPs now, for whatever that's worth. -Fnlayson (talk) 18:27, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
It's a double EP. Or a compilation release. But it is not labeled as an album. Billboard (magazine), another of the most prominent reliable sources in music, also outlines this referring to things as a pair of EPs (BSR and FTF) and a debut album with Anthem. Sergecross73 msg me 18:37, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

I would say that it is an album, as an EP cannot be 32 minutes long. That is absurd. I would say that this is an album that borrowed 4 tracks from the previously released EP. This is much like what was done on The Beatles album, Magical Mystery Tour, where they took 5 previously released singles and combined it with the soundtrack for their movie to make a full length LP. You would not call that a 5 single/ 6 track soundtrack EP mix, now would you. No, it is an album in the truest sense, no matter where the material comes from. As Fnlayson said, the siurces vary on what they call it, but if we adhere to the true definition of an EP or Album, we will come to the concusion that it is in fact an album. Because of that, i think that this article as well as the articles for the releases themselves should be revised accordingly. Cboi Sandlin (talk) 18:35, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Anthem of the Peaceful Army as debut album

As an extension of this argument - very mainstream reliables sources all call Anthem of the Peaceful Army their debut album:

Ah ,but this is incorrect, as an EP cannot be 32 minutes long! That is utter rubbish! They may be "Reliable Sources", but that doesnt mean that they cannot be wrong. If Rolling Stone told you that the sky was green, would you beleive them? No, of course not. Saying that a 32 minute long release is an EP is just as absurd. EPs are usually 10 or 15 minutes long, not 32! Cboi Sandlin (talk) 19:00, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

I could believe there could be a slip up on one of these sources, but I refuse to believe that five of some of the biggest music websites in existence all had the same slip up. And as I mentioned above, both Billboard and Allmusic articulate it better - they call it a compilation of EPs, or a double EP. Such a classification does not infringe on the definition of an EP anyways. Not every grouping of songs above 7 songs is automatically considered a full-blown album either you know. For example, b-sides albums are generally not factored into the numbering of a band's albums either. This is more comparable to that. Sergecross73 msg me 19:09, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

I guess you're right. Makes more sense now. Thanks for explaining that to me. Happy editing. Cboi Sandlin (talk) 20:57, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
