[edit]Why isn't it called just Geelong-Ballarat railway line? I really doubt there are railways outside of Victoria between two similarly named places. Is it a result of some naming convention I'm not aware of? - Bobet 17:20, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- I though this was going to be a comment 'why isn't it called the Ballarat-Geelong railway'. ;-)
- It is a naming convention, at least a non-official one not really written down anywhere. The same thing applies for railway stations. The only real reason I see for it is that you can link to x railway line, Victoria or y railway station, Victoria without worrying about disambiguating for other locations in other places if you didn't have the state in the title.
