Rats / Mice
[edit]I'm tempted to think that this seeming contradiction is more of a show of prejudice against the nezumi. Looking at the race themselves, neither mouse nor rat really fits very well, in any event.

- Perhaps, but it suggests to me that the person who wrote the "official" descriptions on the page did not work on the game itself. It also says that Eiko was raised by summoners after her parents died, neglecting that her family belonged to a village of summoners, and they too were summoners; and that she was raised by her grandfather, not by generic summoners. -- VederJuda 00:08, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
I hadn't really noticed that, but what you've said makes sense. I suppose it's a minor point, anyhow.

Actually, all evidence points to them being rats. Every official source says they are {namely every instance in the game where their species is mentioned, every official Freya profile mentioning her species, and many guides in various languages}, and the Japanese name for Burmecians, "nezumi", actually translates as "rat" or "mouse" in Japanese {that's right, the species name is different from that of the city in the Japanese version}.

[edit]I thought I'd take this paragraph by Wilson 6500 out of the main article and put it here, since it's not very encyclopaedic:
Official information on Freya is, at best, hard to find. As you (will) see above, she recieves little time in-game, and there are few resources officially discussing her outside of the game--somewhat common for a video game character. See Square-Enix's North American Final Fantasy IX page for official info—it is unfortunately a flash document, so readers will need to manually find the characters page (check the right-hand side of the flash, or use the "Menu" option on the bottom right) and the Freya Crescent page (click her silhouette). Unfortunately, although this source can be considered authoritative (the game was created by Square-Enix), much of the information therein is never directly referenced in the game, and some of it seems to contradict the game. For instance, there is no direct mention in the game of her supposed banishment, nor of her being "raised" as a Dragon Knight. It also refers to a "Mouse Clan," even though Burmecians are regarded as rats in the game, not even being called a "Rat Clan." --Marcg106 04:35, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
too much info?
[edit]It seems like this entry gives too much story with lots of specifics that really are not needed to give a comprehensive view of the character. Does anyone else feel it should be shortened? ZPS102 00:44, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
"We had to carry them out on our backs"
[edit]Just a thought--who else here finds that a little hard to believe?
I mean, Blank must think Vivi's pretty gullible. He, or anyone else for that matter, would have to be in order to believe that a) The best Dragon Knight in Burmecia, the near-undefeatable general of Alexandria, and Steiner got "worked over" by some pathetic dog monsters, and b) that Marcus and Blank had the strength to carry Freya {decked out in a ridiculously large amount of equipment} and Steiner {who also wears alot of heavy equipment and looks to be about 20 lbs overweight}, along with Beatrix, ON THEIR BACKS.
Anachronisms
[edit]"Her ability "Reis' Wind" is a reference to a character in Final Fantasy Tactics." Er... what? Didn't FFT come about about four years after FFIX? 88.104.22.5 20:02, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Final Fantasy Tactics was released in 1997. Final Fantasy IX was released in 2000. You might be thinking about the vastly inferior Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Voretus 20:09, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Kain Highwind
[edit]Does anyone think it would be worth mentioning her similarities with the FFIV character? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dlae (talk • contribs) 12:13, 7 February 2007 (UTC).
- I don't think there are that many. Voretus 17:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
