References?
[edit]Could we get more references for this? The one listed reference doesn't seem to have much in the way of specifics. For one thing, I'm skeptical of the claim that an over 1 million year old volcano could erupt again; that needs to be cited or it should be taken out. Thanks! -- Spireguy (talk) 02:49, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- More references would be good, but if you do a simple google search there's nothing much. Lots of volcanoes older than 1 million years could erupt again; see Mount Meager and Mount Cayley, which have been active for 2 and 3 million years. I will continue searching for references for the Franklin Glacier Volcano. Black Tusk 02:52, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- This volcano appears to have long periods of inactivity. The first eruptive event occurred between six and eight million years ago while the seconed stage occurred between two and three million years ago, indicating Franklin has a period of activity about every three million years. Will it erupt again I don't know; very little is known about Franklin and volcanologists can not predict the next eruption of a volcano unless there is something unusual, such as increasing earthquakes or increasing heat in hot springs. However, no hot springs and volcanic earthquakes are known to occur in the Franklin area. Black Tusk (talk) 23:22, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
