Who should be credited as developer and publisher?

[edit]

Me, @ImPurpl3: and @Tooadman: have been editing back and forth the developer label in the infobox. They claim that the developer is unknown and should read as such, and I disagree. My case is that the sources describe McD and Nintendo as developers, as:

  • [1] says "McDonald's Japan is currently developing [eCDP]",
  • [2] says "The chain is developing a DS training program",
  • [3] says "McDonald's has developed software",

I an fully aware that the game and its conception is shrouded in mystery, and perhaps it was outsourced to some unknown game studio. However, the sources all clearly specify McD as developer - and without clear evidence of the contrary our content should not contradict the very sources cited. Can't we agree?

And as for the publisher label, it should by all means also read "McDonald's" as they're the masters of their own game's distribution. Gaioa (T C L) 10:37, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the first link, the first 3 sources are dead links. The only one that works is a link to another reporting site which is using the same sources as Gizmodo, and which are all dead. Regarding the second link, again links to Nikkei, which redirects to the Nikkei homepage. And regarding the final link, this one also only sources Nikkei, which is a dead link. If we are to go out of our way to go to some sort of Nikkei article about eCDP [4], they say that McDonalds themselves developed the software which is in no way a true statement. McDonalds themselves said that they outsourced the development of eCDP [5]. This statement can be found at "(14-13)". Nikkei is not a reliable reporting site for who developed eCDP, so therefore, whether the article these sites are sourcing is the same one, it can be assumed that the information that these sits pulled was the same as this article. If anything, we should be sourcing the word of McDonalds themselves.
I will concede with you on the publisher side of things, as far as I know, I cannot disprove that McDonalds didn't publish eCDP, and they fill the role as publisher. Toadman (Tooadman) (talk) 15:38, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, you had another source? Why didn't you say so :) That settles it, and I'll cite it. Gaioa (T C L) 16:54, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(Forgive my inexperience with Wikipedia editing) I think that the developers should be shown as McD & Nintendo - also, didn't Activision have something to do with the game? TheCamro (talk) 10:55, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TheCamro: Activision? Where did you hear that from? Is there a source we can cite for that? Gaioa (T C L) 08:00, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. I got confused with MobiClip, my bad :/ TheCamro (talk) 09:32, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

I disagree that this page is notable enough for its own article. Mistyhands (talk) 10:01, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I'm taking the initiative and removing the notability template, this game has gotten quite a lot of coverage in related media. - Anonimski (talk) 11:09, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple games in the series

[edit]

The Wikipedia article is about one single game - but there are apparently three of them:

  • eCrew Development Program
  • eSmart
  • eSmart 2.0

Perhaps the article needs to be expanded and changed to a more generic title?
