D0g or Dog?
[edit]Both the Half-Life wiki and the Combine Overwiki list this character's name as "Dog", with no zero in the name. Shouldn't that be what this page's name is as well? Dogman15 (talk) 06:37, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Wow. Two and a half years later, and no one has responded to me? Especially after this edit? (Seriously, Ferret.) Another source for his name being "Dog" (and "D0g" being a misnomer) is that the game's official subtitles/captions label him as "Dog". Personally, I'd like to see a source for the "D0g" name. I have a feeling it didn't come from Valve, but from some third-party material. Or maybe that was the character's name's spelling in pre-production or beta, but isn't anymore. At any rate, I'd go by more recent sources: The latest update to the game, where the subtitles remained "Dog", and both Half-Life wikis, which if they were wrong, would be corrected. The people who edit the first wiki I linked really know what they're doing. Dogman15 (talk) 02:20, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- Other wikis aren't usable as a reliable source. I'd recommend doing a move request. Note that the target article would have to be Dog (Half-Life 2 character) or similar. -- ferret (talk) 02:32, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Requested move 25 October 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved. There's consensus to do the move as specified. If someone wants to merge, that's a separate issue. — Amakuru (talk) 22:36, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
D0g → Dog (Half-Life 2) – No reference to being spelt "D0g", other wikis just call him "Dog". This wiki page is the only search result that calls it "D0g" – Nixinova ⟨T|C⟩ 03:55, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Neutral. Wikipedia is not based upon other wikis, but reliable sources. A quick search on the WP:VG/RS custom Google search engine brings up plenty of results. That being said, I remain neutral in this discussion, because I also can imagine that WP:PRECISE is more important - on my keyboard, the zero ("0") is situated right above the letter O. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 10:34, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support Current name is too confusing and a potential typo as 0 is next to o. It could use a disambiguation regardless, but "Dog" seems like the common name.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 13:01, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Comment Considering that most of the article consists of "He was named on top x of y" lists, with almost no in-depth discussion of the character and its development, should probably consider merging to Characters of Half-Life. Redirect D0g and Dog (Half-Life 2) to there. -- ferret (talk) 13:18, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support Ferret's idea, redirect both. Second choice would be to support name change. Dennis Brown - 2¢ 21:05, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support name change, since I can't find any reliable source using the "D0g" spelling, it's confusing, and as I said above, the game's subtitles (characters and developer commentary) use "Dog". Dogman15 (talk)
- Support Would agree. As I mentioned in an edit a long time ago, the name is Dog not D0g. Apap04 (talk) 22:04, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
