Ownership and conflict of interest issues
[edit]It seems that this bio is being run by some family members who don't want any mention of Delany Bramlett's former wife, Bonnie, even tho' such mention is made in good faith. I received an e-mail from someone claiming to be family asking me not to intrude on their grief. I, too, am sorry that Delany has become an ancestor but this is an encylopedia, not a personal space for greiving. I don't think that Wikipedia allows anyone to "own" a particular article whatever the reason. I don't an "edit war" but this matter should be mentioned. --Phyllis1753 (talk) 03:22, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
I didn't think it was possible for this site to be "maintained by Delaney Bramlett's management team", either. Surely one of Wikipedia's many rules is being broken here? --Ampwright (talk) 03:17, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
My guess is that enough people will have their edits blocked or removed that enough complaints will be made and some sort of administrative action will be taken.--Phyllis1753 (talk) 17:33, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- You are both correct. This page shouldn't be "maintained" by anyone (per WP:OWN), least of all someone with as obvious a conflict of interest as the individual's management team. If they behavior persists, I will be certain to discuss the relevant policies with the editor(s) involved and hopefully they will understand. Cheers, CP 04:23, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your time and attention. Cheers.--Phyllis1753 (talk) 13:21, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Advertising in image
[edit]Looks like the new photo in the article could be construed as an advertisement for his latest CD--Phyllis1753 (talk) 23:31, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think you're right. --Uncle Milty (talk) 23:37, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
And now it's gone! Cheers!--Phyllis1753 (talk) 01:04, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not completely. It still comes and goes. --Uncle Milty (talk) 01:17, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for keeping an eye on it, anyway. Cheers!--Phyllis1753 (talk) 01:22, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Senior Editor or Admin Please Note
[edit]I would invite you to have a look at the history page of the article.
This article is effectively being controlled by Zbestwun2001. On one particular day, 27 Mar 2008, there are 27 edits. And for all that furious activity, the article fails to give much material of substance about Delaney Bramlett.
For one example, the band "Delaney & Bonnie & Friends" counted among its members Duane Allman, Leon Russell, Bobby Whitlock, Jim Keltner, Jim Price, Bobby Keys, Carl Radle, and Jerry McGee, among others. A number of these great musicians went on to form the core of Eric Clapton's "Derek and the Dominoes" and Joe Cocker's "Mad Dogs and Englishmen". This is not minor history, but a major pathway in American soul/rock/blues.
The article reads like a record company promo piece, and despite the nearly continuous edits by Zbestwun2001, it is riddled with typo's.
In short, it's a mess. Is there a path back to Wiki standards for this article? Right now, it is someone's personal toy. Without mentioning the truly important history, this article is merely the fantasy of some short-sighted person.
And Zbestwun2001? If you are reading this, I met Delaney and Bonnie and saw them play live, in L.A., back in 1970, at "The Chronicle", in the valley, where they were effectively the house band (when they were in town). I am searching for a polite way to say this, but with your blocking or eliminating the heart of Delaney's true history and monumental contributions to American music, in my personal opinion, you are not qualified to carry Delaney Bramlett's jockstrap in your teeth, down on all fours, on a gravel road, in the rain.
Come on in my kitchen, child. Rainbow-five (talk) 20:35, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
