Neutrality
[edit]Thanks for the huge expansion Elonka! This bio has improved dramatically. I think there's some POV elements to watch out for though... For instance, while Aladdin might have won many awards, I doubt 7-UP's Cool Spot and McDonald's Global Gladiators did, so I removed the words "award-winning" in the sentence that those three games are mentioned. If there are specific awards for Aladdin worth mentioning, we should put them in.
I also edited a few other potentially POV bit and bobs, see revision history for details. Technitai 10:52, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yup, I hear ya, and have done enough "spam reverts" on other Wikipedia articles to know what you're talking about. In the spirit of full disclosure though, I should also mention that I'm in the game industry myself, though in a very different section of the industry (see my bio article at Elonka Dunin). I wouldn't list myself as a close friend of Perry (I've probably spent a grand total of 15 minutes talking to him over the last several years), but I have definitely met him, heard him speak, and am aware of the high regard with which he is held by many other industry veterans. Of course, I can't use that stuff in his article, but it does help give me a sense of which press releases are real, and which are just hype. ;)
- In terms of current expansion, I added a bunch more game titles that Perry has worked on, though I wasn't always sure if they already had existing Wikipedia articles, so if you could help with tracking those down, that would be great. I'm also trying to learn more about the " game programming books" which Perry wrote as a child. So far I've been unable to locate any titles, so I don't know if they were actual bound and published works, or something more informal. If I run into Perry at GDC next week, I'll try to ask him, though with the current business deals going on (Shiny looking for a new buyer), it'll probably be very difficult to get his attention!
- How about you? If I could ask him directly any particular question, is there any specific datapoint that you would most like clarified? --Elonka 17:54, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- (Update): Looks like Global Gladiators won "Game of the Year", and "Cool Spot" won awards for at least best sound/music. Still researching, but wanted to pass that along. [1] --Elonka 03:58, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
David Perry 7/13/2006 I've added a bunch of updated information, also removed some spam links in there (that was sending people to a site that installed spyware.) If you have any questions about my edits, feel free to email me. (The preceding comment was posted by Shinydp (talk · contribs) on July 13, 2006)
Others named Perry
[edit]There are others named David Perry. David Perry, Public Education Director for Trend Micro is another one.
French bio
[edit]The David Perry article at the French Wikipedia[2]seems to be more complete than this one. Should we perhaps seek someone to translate? --Elonka 09:00, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Table
[edit]There is some problem with the "selected works" table. The years of some games won't appear at all or are somehow on the wrong position. Please fix! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.97.168.142 (talk) 21:49, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
No mention of Acclaim's folded Project: Top Secret mmo?
[edit]David Perry was the director of Acclaim's Project: Top Secret, which was a contest for a community-created massively-multiplayer online game. http://www.dperry.com/archives/news/dp_blog/our_community_c/
Acclaim of course folded. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Acclaim_Games (this page lists Project: Top Secret with David Perry directing as well)
I was looking for info on what ended up happening to PTS. Found this page, don't know if it helps http://www.anjelsyndicate.org/2011/01/06/acclaims-project-top-secret-reflections-part-1-prologue/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by SykoSilver (talk • contribs) 01:55, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Acclaim and 2moons
[edit]In 2007 2Moons, a westernized version of Dekaron ran under David Perry's name @ Acclaim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.38.127.204 (talk) 11:47, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
