Move or merge to Dún Laoghaire Harbour
[edit]I am somewhat of the opinion there should be a Dún Laoghaire Harbour article in preference to a Carlisle Pier article; and I'd suggest this article was developed into it or merged into it. On course this idea would also impact content in the Dún Laoghaire article. Djm-leighpark (talk) 17:39, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
Requested move 26 July 2019

The result of the move request was: not moved. (non-admin closure) Calidum 19:30, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
Carlisle Pier → Dún Laoghaire Harbour – Carlise Pier is part of the Dún Laoghaire Harbour entity and value could be better served if it was part of such an article. I have been recently working on the Dublin and Kingstown Railway and have sufficient resource and intention to develop the article topic to about start/c class promptly after the move. People will be aware the harbour is already covered in the Dún Laoghaire however I am of the harbour topic cannot be developed in depth within that article without having problems of WP:UNDUE weight. The proposed title matches WP:COMMONNAME and is consistent with e.g. Poole Harbour Djm-leighpark (talk) 20:20, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per nom (sic), WP:SCOPE and the spirit of WP:CRYSTALBALL. I agree with the need for an article on Dún Laoghaire Harbour, but "I...have sufficient resource and intention to develop the article topic to about start/c class promptly after the move" is the incorrect order; create the material on Dún Laoghaire Harbour first and then propose a move. Better yet to avoid WP:SCOPE issues, create a new article on Dún Laoghaire Harbour and then propose a merger if needed. However, this article deals only with Carlisle Pier and has so since its creation 10 years ago. — AjaxSmack 00:24, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per AjaxSmack. I don't have a problem with expanding the scope of the article, but we shouldn't put the cart before the horse. PC78 (talk) 16:22, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
