Community Unit School District 200 → Community Unit School District 200 (DuPage County, Illinois) – Ambiguous name, and unclear whether this is the WP:PRIMARYNAME Closeapple (talk) 08:56, 5 January 2018 (UTC) --Relisted. Paine Ellsworth put'r there 11:35, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Background: In Illinois, school districts are numbered unique to the county, not the state as some may assume. Legally the name of each is something like "Community Unit School District No. ###, Xxxxx County, Illinois", but in practice most of them choose a location or school name for themselves, which ends up being a convenient way to distinguish districts with the same number. However, particularly in the Chicago suburbs, some have not adopted a distinguishing name. The subject of this article is an example. However, there have been many school districts with the number 200 in Illinois; at least 7 other community unit school districts still exist:
- North Boone Community Unit School District 200 in Boone County
- Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 in adjacent McHenry County
- Greenview Community Unit School District 200 in Menard County
- Sherrard Community Unit School District 200 in Mercer and Rock Island Counties
- Pearl City Community Unit School District 200 in Stephenson County
- North Wayne Community Unit School District 200 in Wayne County
- Beecher Community Unit School District 200U in adjacent Will County (though that district is likely always called 200U, not 200)
I don't know if there were any others that were any others before 1983, but at least one defunct district survived past 1983, and usually notability on Wikipedia is not temporary:
- Roseville Community Unit School District 200 in Warren County, merged into Monmouth-Roseville Community Unit School District 238 in 2005
So "Community Unit School District 200", without any qualifier, may refer to any of these districts, not just the DeKalb County district. I suppose the question is whether the district in DeKalb County is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Community Unit School District 200" with no qualifier: i.e. whether all the other districts nearly always carry a name in reliable sources, not just in their own self-identification. (I've found at least one example: Spence v. Selcke (1949) discussed the formation of CUSD 200 in Menard County, without using the name "Greenview", but this was just months after community unit school districts were invented in Illinois.) --Closeapple (talk) 09:52, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- It's probably worth mentioning that I also came across Community Unit School District 300 a few years ago, and my solution was to make a "(disambiguation)" page instead; in that case, disambiguating the subject would have probably ended up with something awkward like "Community Unit School District 300 (Kane and McHenry Counties, Illinois)". --Closeapple (talk) 10:54, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
