- Brian Murphy (hurler) → Brian Murphy (hurler, born 1982)
- Brian Murphy (Gaelic footballer) → Brian Murphy (1990s Gaelic footballer)
- Brian Murphy (Cork Gaelic footballer) → Brian Murphy (1960s Gaelic footballer)
- Brian Murphy (footballer) → Brian Murphy (soccer player)
– There is another hurler called Brian Murphy (hurler, born 1952). We have five Brian Murphys who are hurlers or Gaelic footballers or footballers or goalkeepers or both or a combination, three of whom are from Cork. Hence "Cork", "footballer", "Gaelic footballer", and "hurler" are insufficient disambiguators. As the birth year of one is unknown and all are still living, dates cannot be used, and as more than one has played in the same position, positions cannot be used. Brian Murphy (hurler), Brian Murphy (Gaelic footballer) and Brian Murphy (Cork Gaelic footballer) should be redirects to Brian Murphy to distinguish the two hurlers (one born 1952 the other born 1982), the three Gaelic footballers (active from the 1960s, 1970s and 1990s respectively), and the two Cork Gaelic footballers. Leaving Brian Murphy (hurler, born 1952) and Brian Murphy (1970s Gaelic footballer) as redirects to Brian Murphy (Gaelic games). DrKiernan (talk) 15:24, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- Support - non controversial sensible disambiguation. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:12, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
- Support - There are a number of cases in the hurling world where this sort of name confusion gets messy, this seems to untangle this particular Gordian knot just fine. --j⚛e deckertalk 18:14, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
