Requested move 27 September 2023
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. Insufficient data to determine primary topic, given the dab at the base page has just been improved and the spike in page views due to the recent attacks. (non-admin closure) Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:28, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- Banjska (village) → Banjska
- Banjska → Deleted to make way for page move
– The village is the usual meaning of Banjska. The monastery is linked in this article & isn't simply referred to as Banjska. The dab page shouldn't exist. Jim 2 Michael (talk) 11:10, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support per WP:DABCONCEPT at least. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:05, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- I guess this would be a logical continuation of the edit I did in 2011. Apparently we started with a redirect to the monastery before the village article had existed, but it's fair to use the natural disambiguation in the monastery's title as is and move the base name to the gazetteer entry. --Joy (talk) 11:45, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- An anonymous user added the Banjska River to the disambiguation page, which now actually makes it useful, and so it should stay. There's also a Banjška which can be listed here for navigation purposes. Please feel free to withdraw the proposal. --Joy (talk) 09:34, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
Support move; oppose deletion per Joy. Move the disambiguation page to → Banjska (disambiguation). If one still thinks there is need for deletion, take it to AfD. SilverLocust 💬 22:51, 4 October 2023 (UTC)- @SilverLocust the problem is we have no explanation why the village is the "usual meaning" of the term. With the river effectively hidden away until very recently, it's unfair to examine statistics (and even these ones are unclear). There's also some recentism involved as the most popular topic is the recent armed conflict there. --Joy (talk) 07:06, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Joy: It wasn't clear to me that you took issue with the assertion that "Banjska" in isolation would primarily refer to the village. I was unsure of that but didn't have reason to doubt that this would be an incomplete name for the other topics (_ monastery, _ river, _ plateau, _ attack). But given that you are questioning that, I'd agree that more evidence is needed. SilverLocust 💬 07:46, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- The village has 10,559 viewscompared with only 19 for the river and 122[[1]] for Banjšice Plateau so the village seems to be primary over the unrelated uses. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:45, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Crouch, Swale but your starting position is incorrect. Of course the village has that many views when we didn't even link the other things up to yesterday. And when the monastery, that was linked, has a similar amount of views, then it stands to reason that we ought to do our due diligence and give a chance for the other topics to show up in the statistics. If in two months time we see a clear picture in WikiNav that practically everyone who looked up "Banjska" went to the village, then we can safely short-circuit. --Joy (talk) 06:57, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- The pageviews are not indicative of long-term significance because they are currently inflated by the Banjska attack, whereas during 2022 the plateau got the most views followed by the monastery ([2]). The river is still far behind in that period (619 vs 82) but the margin is not nearly as extreme as the recent statistic suggests. BegbertBiggs (talk) 20:25, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
