Irving Literary Society
[edit]Why does the article place so much weight on his ostensible membership of this society, to the extent it more or less has its own section? Its own Wikipedia article states that the society ceased to exist in any meaningful sense in 1887 anyway, with its status as a student organisation being reconsidered in 2014 (the article doesn't provide any conclusion to this process). It seems that historically Phi Kappa Psi were linked to the Society, being allegedly founded in 1868 through the Society (whatever that means; presumably members formed the fraternity?), but I fail to see how that makes Essandoh- or anyone else post 1887- a 'member' of a defunct society.
