Fair use rationale for Image:Gmaccomp.GIF
Image:Gmaccomp.GIF is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
alot of useless information
there seems to be alot of information in this article that have nothing to do with GMAC. The various mentions of Maddoff and financial firms. Alot of it has nothing to do with GMAC, I don't think Bernie is the reason GMAC is a flop. Woods01 (talk) 04:59, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Excellent read, but hard to follow
I disagree with the view expressed above; I think the Maddoff connection is pertinent as exposed; the article didn't overemphasize it, nor should it under-emphasize it. Just right, I would say. What I find is some difficulty with dates. Starting with the paragraph that begins, "In January, 2009, Merkin who was deeply involved with...", the next paragraph begins "Five days earlier...", and the next paragraph goes even further back in time. I think the article could use a bit of "chronological reorganization". Also, update is needed as per Capmark's filing for bankruptcy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.210.85.211 (talk) 12:36, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Page rename
Is it time to rename this page Ally Bank? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.113.105.172 (talk) 16:48, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Probably. The name of the article should reflect the current name, and prior names should redirect here. -- Whpq (talk) 17:48, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure about the page rename - GMAC and Ally are not synonymous. The company today is nothing like what it used to be - before, "it was never a bank holding company, but now it is. it is no longer owned by General Motors, either. they changed their name, headquarters, operations centers, business plan, and investment sectors." (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Ally_Bank) I vote for a separate page that continues to describe the now-defunct GMAC. --kipito (talk) 21:37, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- I second Kiphinton's proposal, for the same reasons. For a precedent, seeFleet Bank and BankBoston, both of which still retain their former Wikipedia page despite name changes.

What is Master Servicing —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.180.28.6 (talk • contribs)
- Master Servicing is (in the case of the mortgage company) collecting payments, holding escrow deposits, processing payoffs and managing defaults. If loans are securitized, then it also includes reporting and remitting to investors. Montco 04:08, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I think that info from the page Nuvell Financial Services be merged into this page. The Nuvell page doesn't have that much info, and GMAC pretty much considers Nuvell a separate entity by name only anyways.Jgera5 18:04, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
