Chandeliers
[edit]Maybe it would be a great idea to compare and contrast the sequences in the film adaptations when the chandelier crahes down on the audience? Or maybe I should 'get a life'? Colin4C 02:02, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Missing royal albert hall performance
[edit]it was stage/simulcast in theaters, so i'm not sure what section it belongs in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.18.169.161 (talk) 12:47, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Fanfic and Condoms
[edit]Um, is everyone really sure that all this fanfic belongs on this list (even if the writers in question paid a self-publishing outfit a few hundred dollars to put out their book?) It doesn't seem acceptable in articles about other public-domain icons. Very few "literary adaptations" have actually been produced that were not self-publishing efforts.
- I agree. Self-published fanfic listings do not belong here.
- I disagree. Even published works are still considered "fanfic." If they are self-published works, registered and copyrighted with the US Copyright office, listed in the U.S. Library of Congress, any mode of publication still makes them viable adaptations. If it bothers you, then start a different section that delineates between the two. My suggestion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VHopkins (talk • contribs) 20:38, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, there was a condom commercial featuring the Phantom (on his way to an opera date) in the early 1990s. I'm pretty sure it was for Trojan, but it might have been Lifestyles. (I seem to recall that the Trojan Man showed up and gave the Phantom - not identified as Erik - some condoms.)
In one episode, a man at Kelly's Keyboards orders an organ. Ken calls him Mr. Erik. -Monkey 13!!! 02:47, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Music
[edit]Does anyone else remember a techno version of Phantom coming out around '94 (possibly '93) ? Nothing is mentioned of it... Airbrush 02:54, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Chronology
[edit]In some sections (movies and television) the works appear in order from oldest to newest, while in others (Stage, Literature, etc.), the works appear newest to oldest. I'm thinking that this needs to be fixed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.113.192.162 (talk) 18:03, 26 April 2007 (UTC).
Fixed the chronology in Stage, needs to be done in Literature. Jariola (talk) 13:45, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Allusion in Chamber of Secrets
[edit]Chamber of Secrets' characters Tom Riddle and Ginny Weasley has some relationship that is similar to Erik and Christine's. I think we should put it here. 125.60.243.4 13:09, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- SPOLIERS FOR DEATHLY HALLOWS!*
I see where that comes from, actually. But by Deathly Hallows, Ginny hates Tom/Voldemort. Christine never litruly hates Erik-otherwise, why did she kiss him? She was just, to qoute the Andrew Llyod Webber musical, 'not afraid of his face, but his soul'. Voldemort didn't even have a WHOLE soul. --UnicornTwilight (talk) 00:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Audio Adaptations
[edit]One catagory that is missing here is audio adaptations. I just came across an excellent radio adaptation of "Phantom of the Opera" aired on BBC7 radio in 2007. It is probably one of the most faithful adaptations ever done of the novel. Plotwise, every scene from the novel is in place here. Liberties are taken but very few (The beginning is reworked, some of Leroux's flights of fancy are removed like Little Jaames, Mme. Sorelli, the ratcatcher and the man with the felt hat, and the ending though intact is condensed down.) Here are the details:
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - Translated and adapted from Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux. Written and directed by Barnaby Edwards in four half-hour episodes for Big Finish Productions.
The four-part dramatization is the first to feature the original operatic sequences described in the novel, which have been freshly recorded and orchestrated by the composer Tim Sutton. The play stars Anna Massey, Peter Guinness, Alexander Siddig and James D’Arcy.
Cast: Anna Massey - Madame Giry, Peter Guinness - The Phantom, Alexander Siddig - The Persian, James D'Arcy - Raoul, Helen Goldwyn - Christine, Tony Millan - Moncharmin, Richard Earl - Richard, Nick Brimble - Philippe/Gaston, Nick Wilton - Lachenel/Mifroid, Geraldine Newman - Madame Valérius, Samantha Hughes - La Carlotta, Nicola Weeks - Meg/Adèle,
Singers: Linda Richardson as Christine and La Carlotta, Matthew Hargreaves as The Phantom.
Music by Tim Sutton.
Violin played by Ruth Rogers.
Recorded: 24 and 25 September 2007; 4 and 12 October 2007 Released: December 2007; March 2008 (CD)
If there are any other audio adaptations, please post it here.
