Split?
[edit]I realise that the men's and women's Hundreds are being given equal weight, but I think this article is too big to include both, and it's actually a little confusing for the article to refer to multiple teams by the same name when the results of the men's and women's matches have no effect on each other. They are separate competitions under the same banner. This article should be split into separate articles for the men's and women's tournaments. – PeeJay 13:49, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. The whole competition is pretty unified under one banner, one set of tickets, one set of broadcast rights, one set of branding, with the same fans supporting both teams. I completely agree that this article is a bit unwieldy but any split would essentially Wikipedia deciding that they're distinct competitions when that isn't the reality on the ground. - Ummm, I wasn’t asking you to vote on this. Besides, splitting the content out doesn’t have any editorial implications. It’s a natural split to avoid making a single article too big and confusing. – PeeJay 00:24, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- OK I'm new to Wikipedia editing but everyone seems to be voting on things on Talk pages the whole time! It just seems like the wrong call to me, you were putting forward a proposition for discussion, no? Grvlx100 (talk) 09:35, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- No worries. Typically, votes are frowned upon as Wikipedia is not a simple democracy. We make decisions based on arguments, not just a tally of supports versus opposes. I'm happy to discuss the situation though. Perhaps we should canvass for more opinions at WT:CRIC. – PeeJay 14:18, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved to "<YEAR> The Hundred season". Consensus on the alternate proposed name by Amakuru – robertsky (talk) 21:37, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- The Hundred (2021) → 2021 season of The Hundred
- The Hundred (2022) → 2022 season of The Hundred
- The Hundred (2023) → 2023 season of The Hundred
- The Hundred (2024) → 2024 season of The Hundred
– Revert undiscussed move. Also, the proposed names are more sensible, Wikipedia doesn't generally use (year) as a disambiguator, but instead uses the word season in sports articles, as we were doing before these undiscussed moves. Even though the current name is shorter, it doesn't comply with WP:CONSISTENT, as other cricket and sports articles use the season name. - Support Per nom, previous titles were more sensible. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 20:04, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Comment - why not The Hundred 2021, etc. This is the format used on the template at the bottom of the page as well as in some of the sources. Bensci54 (talk) 17:24, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- Move to 2021 The Hundred season... per our usual naming format for season articles, e.g. 2021 NFL season. I see little reason to restore the weird long-winded "2021 season of The Hundred" formulation and not particularly keen on The Hundred 2021 either, unless that's a consitently used proper name. — Amakuru (talk) 18:41, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- I think that's more common since these are definitely seasons and consistency applies for sure. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 18:22, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fine by me too. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:52, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
