Fair use rationale for Image:Fcnuernberg.png

[edit]

Image:Fcnuernberg.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Name

[edit]

82.181.175.177 (talk) 14:43, 27 December 2007 (UTC) Oh come on. There is AS Roma, not AS Rome. There is also 1. FC Nürnberg, but there is not any team called 1. FC Nuremberg.[reply]

According to their official website there is. пﮟოьεԻ 57 12:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You wnat to make that mistake again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.181.175.177 (talk) 14:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as the English language part of the official site now uses Nürnberg instead of Nuremberg, shouldn't we be moving the page to reflect that? If not why do we have a page titled 1. FC Köln when the club is more commonly referred to as "Cologne" in English media sources? -- sueisfine 08:18, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name should probably be 1st F. C. Nuremberg - to be in line with what goes as standards here. The whole thing is ridiculous anyway. 101.174.58.220 (talk) 23:15, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Chandler

[edit]

http://www.fcn.de/team/spieler/profil/chandler/ indicates that his nationality is German. While he may play for the US due to his dual citizenship, until there's an announcement to that effect, we have to take the sources available to us. That source is the club's site. Unless someone can offer a reference to the contrary, I will continue to revert changes to Chandler's nationality as vandalism. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:53, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Chandler has been called up by the US Men's National team today. http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/US-Men/2011-Rosters/110326-MNT-vs-ARG-PAR.aspx —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.201.249.196 (talk) 02:07, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That explains it. Thanks. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:09, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So do we wait until he makes his debut to consider him American? Kcwz (talk) 04:25, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed the article back to the last USA, but that was what I was thinking as I was making the change. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:55, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.weltfussball.de/spieler_profil/timothy-chandler/ alot of player have two nationalities! This quit common especially for player from South/North America

Nicknames

[edit]

I have been a FCN supporter for many years: "Die Legende" and "Der Altmeister" aren't common nicknames. "Die Legende" is only mentioned the club anthem, it is not used otherwise and as a huge fan I would not think of the FCN, if I heard this term (contextless). Furthermore, I would not consider "Der Altmeister" as a nickname. Though, it is sometimes used in newspapers to refer to the FCN, it does not describe Nürnberg in particular. It is used for any club, who has been successful in the past, like Schalke, Hamburger SV, etc. 217.235.123.146 (talk) 18:52, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree, "Legende" and "Altmeister" aren't nicknames. 91.14.175.74 (talk) 20:25, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're absolutely right. A common nickname is "Der Ruhmreiche" though. --2001:A62:2CD:8A01:7050:82E1:AA12:EC60 (talk) 17:25, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

1. FC Nuremberg1. FC Nürnberg – Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sports), which says that articles about foreign sports teams should be named according to how the club refers to itself on the English-language section of its official website provided that the name is recognisable to an English-speaking audience and it is in use by a significant proportion (though not necessarily a majority) of the media. Although this was not the case when User:Number 57 posted above, this club now refers to itself as "1. FC Nürnberg" on the English section of its website and a quick Google search proves that this is a name that is used by a significant proportion of the media (on Kingjeff's talk page, I posted at least 10 examples of "Nürnberg" or "Nurnberg", compared to three or four uses of "Nuremberg" at most). This is clearly a recognisable name since it uses the German form of the name of the city of Nuremberg and differs from that name by only one or two letters (and an accent). – PeeJay 22:27, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Number in the name

[edit]

Is there a 2. FCN? If not, why the number in the name?Wschart (talk) 16:17, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
