Primary Author
[edit]I'm the primary author, and have no relationship to the subject, except as a fan of his incredible creative and imaginative music. I was not compensated for writing this in any way.
I've drawn from material from Neal's website, other Internet sources, and information sent to me by Barbara Gladstone, Neal's widow.

- "...and information sent to me by Barbara Gladstone, Neal's widow" is strongly suggestive of a WP:COI. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:46, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Barbara sent me documentary information, not point-of-view information. She put me in touch with reporters who have covered Neal and she sent me typical "scrapbook" material, such as press coverage and independent reviews of Neal's work. She put me in touch with Neal's unofficial photographer and his archivist, both of whom were fellow fans and neither of whom were compensated for their work. Does this seem free of CoI?
- I have purposely kept information from Neal's website to strictly factual material (such as dates, discography, etc.), to avoid CoI. Is that adequate separation from CoI?
- I'm busy tracing down one statement attributed to her, but which actually came from a reporter. If I find it came to the reporter through Barbara, I will delete it. Jan Steinman (talk) 01:15, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jan Steinman The COI needs to be declared on your user page. It is demonstrably present. "Barbara sent me documentary information, not point-of-view information. - @Jan Steinman: COI and POV/bias are separate issues. As WP:COI states,
Determining that someone has a COI is a description of a situation. It is not a judgment about that person's state of mind or integrity. A COI can exist in the absence of bias, and bias regularly exists in the absence of a COI.
If the material you have received from your contact is "strictly factual", that's great, but that in no way negates the COI concern. The very fact that you have been corresponding with, and received information from, sources close to the subject, and are using that to construct this draft, means that there is COI. Could you please now make the necessary disclosure? Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:54, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
