Valasht Lake is a lake in Iran,[1] and is one of the country's ten freshwater lakes. Its water is sourced from underground springs, making it a natural freshwater lake.[2] The surface area of the lake is 150,000 square metres, with a maximum depth of 20 metres. The volume of water present is estimated to be approximately three million cubic metres.[3][4] The lake is situated within the eastern hills of Kelardasht, in close proximity to the village of Sama.[5] The lake is a habitat for migratory birds, as well as fish and other aquatic life.[6][7][8]

Valasht Lake is situated in a mountainous region to the southwest of the city of Galous northern of Iran in Mazandaran province and to the northeast of the city of Kelardasht, at an altitude of 1,000 meters above the Caspian Sea.[9][10]

Additionally, it can be accessed via the city of Galous and from the Kandwan road. Following a 23-kilometer route through hills and forests, one can reach the natural lake of Valasht.[11][12]

The city of Kelardasht is situated in the western region of Mazandaran province, approximately 35 kilometers from the central portion of the southern Caspian Sea coastline and It follows the jurisdiction of Galous district.[13] The area of Kelardasht has been inhabited for at least 4,000 years, situated as it is in a mountainous region.[14][15]

Tourism

Lake Valasht, can be considered a tourists attraction due to its natural environment. Its location in a mountainous and hilly region, coupled with a diversity of vegetation,[16][17][18]
