The 2005–06 New Zealand Twenty20 Competition was the inaugural season of the Men's Super Smash Twenty20 cricket tournament in New Zealand. The tournament ran between 13 January to 5 February 2006. The traditional first class teams representing New Zealand districts took part in the tournament.
The tournament was won by the Canterbury Wizards, who defeated Auckland Aces in the final to become the inaugural champions.
The tournament runs alongside the 2005–06 State Championship and 2005–06 State Shield.
Format
[edit]The six teams were divided into two groups according to regional criteria. This was played as a single round-robin, with the top teams in each group advanced to the final.
