I'm not sure you've actually read the entire article. The bit about a human rights charter is already discussed in the article - and since it's disputed, we can't state anything about it as definite fact the way you did. Dougweller (talk) 19:37, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pahlavi dynasty, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page In absentia. Pahlavi dynasty

[edit]

Your edits at Pahlavi dynasty have been reverted. I was not the reverting editor, but I was in the process of reviewing the changes and was about to revert them myself. For one thing, your change to the Infobox (from {{Infobox royal house}} to {{Infobox former country}}) directly contravenes the consensus that was reached in July 2014 on Talk:Pahlavi dynasty. Also, your changes represent an almost entire rewrite of the article, changing its focus from the royal house itself to the history of Iran while under the rule of the Pahlavis. Such extensive changes should be discussed before impelementation. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:37, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rebel leaders during Achaemenid period

[edit]

I noticed that you had removed Pedubastis III from the 27th dynasty on the List of pharaohs's page. This does leave out rulers from the list however. I put Pedubastis III back in and Psammetichus IV as well but put in a footnote saying that they are only there due to chronological reasons. I thought I would reach out since you had been doing some editing. My reason for it was that this page is meant to list all the Pharaohs, so more inclusive seemed like the right thing to do. They are also listed as 27th dynasty on their respective pages with the same footnote. This way the articles are at least consistent with each other. Regards AB (talk) 23:19, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your right, i didnt realize at the time that it would conflict with other pages, thank you for your edit.

Afsharid map issue.

[edit]

Dear Artin, I will repeat myself for the last time: 1. You can't write what you think as a source. 2. Wikipedia can't be used as a source, you'll have to use a book as a source. 3. Reverting someones edit won't make your claim better, in fact it will only get you in trouble. --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:17, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

-HistoryofIran

1. its not an opinion 2. your right but the articles themselves have sources so i will use those sources 3. I think thats exactly what you did. unless you handwrote everything the way exactly it was before. Look you and me have the same goals and i would really like to discuss this further (perhaps with less atitude next time). | Nader conquers khanate of bukhara further evidence: In 1740, it was conquered by Nadir Shah, the Shah of Iran. source: Soucek, Svat. A History of Inner Asia (2000), p. 180. | Nader conquers khanate of khiva further evidence: The khanate was a dependency of Nadir Shah's Persia between 1740-1747. source: Soucek, Svat. A History of Inner Asia (2000), p. 180. | Naders conquest of the sultanate of muscat further evidence: http://www.iranicaonline.org/articles/afsharids-dynasty (not the same as my map so i will fix that)

-Artin Mehraban

It is, it's your own words, not the words of a reliable scholar. And I have just checked the Soucek source, and it seems like that you are fabricating, since it does not even mention the word Afsharid, you know that you can get reported for that, right? About the last source: I have already read it before (heck, it was me who added it on the article), and I'm pretty sure it doesn't support your claim. --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:39, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

-HistoryofIran

Then im curious as to why it's used as a source in the article about the khanate of bukhara. I just assumed that if it was used as a source that it would be accurate and i am sorry for not acctually reading it. and the reason i sourced the iranica article was because of its inclusion of the sultanate of muscat

-Artin Mehraban

I just checked the Khanate of Bukhara article, and the source clearly wasn't added for that part about Nader Shah, but it's alright, we all make mistakes, heck I make dozens. Inclusion of the Sultanate of Muscat? when does it mention that? could you copy and paste it here so I could see? because I clearly didn't see that when I read the source. --HistoryofIran (talk) 01:08, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Then again Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement. You should have talked with me about it so please don't try to educate me on wikipedia policies

-Artin Mehraban

I have not been able to find a good source but Nader shah conquering the khanate of khiva and the khanate of bukhara is mentioned many times on other articles. Yet i will keep searching and though this may be hard for you try to be patient

-Artin Mehraban history of iran, all over wikipedia i am finding articles saying he conquered these areas but have no sources. If you change the map back it would contradict with at least AT LEAST 10 articles i have found. The only wikipedia article that helps your central asian claim is an article that says the oxus river was his border, yet the same article says nader fully cinquered the khanate of bukhara. These 2 peices of information contradict each other because the khanate of bukharas most easternly border was close to the syr darya. I am still curious as to why so many articles written by different users, show the same information, yet is not sourced???!!!!???!!!! i would love to hear you opinion on this please

-Artin Mehraban

P.S. I will continue searching for a source. If so many articles give the same kind of information then there should be at least 1 non wikipedia source, other than maps by Iranian nationalists (the extreme kind)

I have found this image to support my claim. each image of to swords forming an x is PROBABLY the location's of a major battle which if you look carefully if above the oxus river, which encyclopedia iranica, shows as the empires northeastern border. The image comes from a chat site so i;m sure the image doesnt originate from there, and hopefully it originates from a sourced site. when ive found a good source i will add it to the afsharid empire article

-Artin Mehraban

Whats strange is that i looked on the encyclopedia iranica page for the afsharid empire (and the link you used as a source) and the map is no longer there???

-Artin Mehraban

I read the book: History of inner asia and it says mohhamad hakim bi submitted to nadir shah (exact sentence: Nadir Shah, the new ruler of Iran, crossed the Amu Darya and, accepting the submission of Muhammad Hakim Bi) It says naders name and it says he crossed the amu darya aka oxus river so your map is wrong because it shows the oxus as a border. It then says mohhamed hakim bi submitted to nadir. After a search i found he was king of the manghit dynasty which controlled the khanate of bukhara. here is the link to the page of the book: http://librarun.org/book/63545/195. I will add this data to the afsharid empire page. I really want to thank you, because now wikipedia has solid evidence from a university book, that nader shah had in fact crossed the amu darya aka oxus and that he conquered more of central asia than originally beleived. Here is the link: http://librarun.org/book/63545/195. though it doesnt say afsharid empire, only saying nader shah, it says mohammad hakim bi submited and his reign was not during the safavid era for sure, so that invasion could be under the safavid flag with nader shah simply being a general

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Macedonia (ancient kingdom). Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Pahlavi State of Iran

[edit]

Please do not create duplicate articles. Not just because it's a copyright violation, but also because there's no point. Anyone now typing in Pahlavi State of Iran will go to the Dynasty article. Doug Weller (talk) 18:38, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The pahlavi dynasty article is about the royal family, the acctual name of the country was imperial state of iran, since searching that takes you to history of iran i decided to create the seperate article called pahlavi stat of Iran which would be about the former country. you made it a link to the pahlavi dynasty article, these are 2 seperate pages, 1 about the family, one about the former country. I dont think its a copyright violation if its from a wikipedia article, that information and images and etc is available to all to copy and paste. But i will change the text and put it in my own words

-Artin Mehraban

Then stRt a new article all in your own words. As an editor with well over 100,000 edits and an Administrator, I tell you it's a copyright violation, see the warning above, not your first for copyvio. Doug Weller (talk) 19:08, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:NOR. Your edit[1] shows an image and you state it's the possible flag of the Median Empire. We'd need an academic source for that meeting WP:RS, we can't use our own opinions. Doug Weller (talk) 06:37, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to let you know that I have read and studied the policies of wikipedia and I will add a source but tell me if you found this symbol carved into the tomb of an ancient king would you not think of it as some sort of dynastic or Imperial symbol? Since I'm very sire it'll be hard to find a source

It doesn't seem like that image can be found anywhere else. Doug can I just write: symbol that can be found at the tomb of Cyaxares rather than calling it a flag. Because the symbol does acctually appear at his tomb (search it up please ☺). If so I think we'll be ok.

Control copyright icon Hello Artin Mehraban, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Kashtariti has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

Your contributed article, Pahlavi State of Iran

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Pahlavi State of Iran. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Pahlavi dynasty. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Pahlavi dynasty – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:34, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Once again

[edit]

Everything you write in Wikipedia is copyright even if released. The message above says "It appears that you copied or moved text from Pahlavi State of Iran ‎ into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia." That way we can find out who wrote what.

In particular, copyright material from an exterior website shouldn't be added to Wikipedia at all, not even your userspace, not even for a short while. And you can't just rephrase it. See, again, a message I left for you saying *You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.

Just changing words or moving them around won't do. You should not be able to look at your rewording and the original and guess one was copied from the other.

Given the amount of warnings and advice you've been given and the concern of others, I suggest you ask for a mentor. If you continue to ignore the advice you've been given (copyright issues, adding material that is your own opinion and not sourced to reliable sources (which would almost always be academic for the topics you are interested in), etc, I have to question whether you can edit unadvised. You might want to read WP:Competence. Otherwise I will have to take you to WP:ANI and see if there is another solution, which could be a block or a topic ban from articles to do with Iran. Doug Weller (talk) 12:43, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and delete it. Live long and prosper ☺

Symbol

[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Medes. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Once again, there is no academic sources stating that the symbol on the tomb is a flag. Doug Weller (talk) 15:03, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is no source saying that what is considered the flag of the achaemenid empire is the actual flag. Mayne not a flag but it some sort of important symbol since it appeared at the tomb of Cyaxares so it can be considered some kind of dynastic or Imperial symbol of the time. I'll replace the word flag with symbol

It's a Zoroastrian symbol. [2] [3] [4] [5] - none of these are decent sources, and searching for images in books is pretty much impossible. Doug Weller (talk) 16:23, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Pahlavi State of Iran"

[edit]

We can't have an article with this title because it's a made up name. If you read WP:COMMONNAME it says article titles should be those most commonly found in English reliable sources. It isn't found at all in English sources so far as I can see. Doug Weller (talk) 15:09, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Responsibility for providing citations

[edit]

This is specifically about your claims for flags and symbols. The following is a quote from our policy on verifiability. You've already been told about this several times.

"All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.[1]

Attribute all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged to a reliable, published source using an inline citation. Cite the source clearly and precisely (specifying page, section, or such divisions as may be appropriate). The citation must clearly support the material as presented in the article. See Citing sources for details of how to do this.

Any material lacking a reliable source directly supporting it may be removed and should not be restored without an inline citation to a reliable source. Whether and how quickly this should happen depends on the material and the overall state of the article. In some cases, editors may object if you remove material without giving them time to provide references; consider adding a citation needed tag as an interim step.[2] When tagging or removing material for lacking an inline citation, please state your concern that there may not be a published reliable source for the content, and therefore it may not be verifiable.[3] If you think the material is verifiable, you are encouraged to provide an inline citation yourself before considering whether to remove or tag it."

Doug Weller (talk) 10:05, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^ Once an editor has provided any source that he or she believes, in good faith, to be sufficient, then any editor who later removes the material has an obligation to articulate specific problems that would justify its exclusion from Wikipedia (e.g., undue emphasis on a minor point, unencyclopedic content, etc.). All editors are then expected to help achieve consensus, and any problems with the text or sourcing should be fixed before the material is added back.
  2. ^ It may be that the article contains so few citations that it is impractical to add specific citation needed tags, in which case consider tagging a section with {{unreferencedsection}}, or the article with {{refimprove}} or {{unreferenced}}. In the case of a disputed category or on a disambiguation page, consider asking for a citation on the talk page.
  3. ^ When tagging or removing such material, please keep in mind that such edits can be easily misunderstood. Some editors object to others making chronic, frequent, and large-scale deletions of unsourced information, especially if unaccompanied by other efforts to improve the material. Do not concentrate only on material of a particular POV, as that may result in accusations that you are in violation of WP:NPOV. Also check to see whether the material is sourced to a citation elsewhere on the page. For all of these reasons, it is advisable to communicate clearly that you have a considered reason to believe that the material in question cannot be verified.

Please stop adding OR

[edit]

Again, you've been told that if you think something is a country's religious symbol, you need a source meeting our criteria, in this case an academic source, probably more than one, before you can add it. Doug Weller (talk) 16:55, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't changed sourced figures

[edit]

The source for the size of the Timurid dynasty in 1405 is[6]. You changed the figure because you don't agree with it, but that's a violation of WP:VERIFY and WP:NOR. Doug Weller (talk) 14:12, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And you've changed it at List of largest empires despite it having two sources there. You are continually ignoring some of our basic policies and seem unwilling to change your behavior. Are you sure you wouldn't like a WP:MENTOR?
Note also that the Catalan atlas is not an academic source, but a WP:Primary source. (This relates to your recent flag edit). Doug Weller (talk) 14:21, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Im sorry I was lazy when editing the list of larget empires article and I didn't add the proper sources but trust me there are academic sources. You can find those sources that state he conquered delhi ankara and damasxus, on the reference list on the Timur/tamerlane article. I would live it if you could help me add those sourcesbto the list of largest empires article but if not I'll do it myself. But I'll be busy for a while so I'll do it sometime at 12:00 am.

No, you need reliable sources giving the size of the empire at a particular time, in this case 1405. Even then we'd probably have to list both numbers. And what you did ended up with numbers that looked as they were sourced but contradicted the source. Note that it appears that by 1405 Delhi was independent. Damascus was sacked but so far as I can see continued to be Mamluk - being conquered doesn't mean it was made part of the empire, if conquered just means he sacked it and left. But none of that matters, what matters is that you need sources meeting our criteria saying "In the year X the Timurid empire covered Y square km". Without that we can't say anything.
While I'm at it, a footnote mentioning yourself is more evidence that you despite your keen interest in editing and hard work still don't understand how Wikipedia works. This is why I am suggesting that you get a mentor, an experienced editor that can help you. I can't do that because of my other responsibilities on Wikipedia. I'd strongly suggest that you ask for one, as if this continues I'll have to make a report to WP:ANI and see if others think that you can be helped or if it is necessary to block you from editing. I don't want that to happen if it can be avoided. Doug Weller (talk) 15:21, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot about that. I guess he old map is more accurate. I will revert my edits. But I won't get a mentor, since you seem to be paying attention to all my edits I can rely on you to revert things (I'm just joking, but I'm still not getting a mentor, I will spend my time to mentor myself. I don't want to waste someone else's time)

Please stop adding these OR maps

[edit]

Please stop adding that OR self-fabricated map to the Qajar dynasty article. This is not the first time me and others have politely asked you not to add it. I know you have a genuine interest in showing how "mighty and powerful" those empires were, but we simply can not allow such edits.

Bests - LouisAragon (talk) 21:49, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Louisaragon It is based on this link: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7a/Territorial_losses_of_the_qajar_dynasty.png. it mentions some treaties and the date. If those treaties did happen then it means my map is accurate. But you have twice asked me not to add that map so I will let you decide.but please have a look at the map Artin Mehraban (talk) 00:50, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have seen that map. It's spread on the internet. It's not a reliable source as it doesn't state where it got its references and sources from. You can't base your facts from maps, which ever individual on the planet can fabricate and claim that its factual. Iran only ruled the Caucasus and parts of Turkmenistan under the Qajars. Also I just reverted your edits on Azad Khan Afghan, as once again you decided to create a map based on unsourced text. He was a warlord, not an empire creator. A map referes to an entity, which he did not posses over. - LouisAragon (talk) 05:36, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear: LouisAragon Though i created it myself, it is based off of the data from the article and this source: Perry, J. R. (1987), "Āzād Khan Afḡān", in: Encyclopædia Iranica, Vol. III, Fasc. 2, pp. 173-174. Online (Accessed February 20, 2012). According to the information, He captured or had control over: Isfahan, Tabriz, Urmia, Azerbaijan, eastern kurdistan, Northern Persia, Southwestern turkemenistan, which is exactly what i did to the map. Also why did you take out the portrait? Artin Mehraban (talk) 05:48, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He didn't establish an "empire". Jeez. And that "picture", you took from Flickr is an contemporary interpretation by someone. Not reliable as well. - LouisAragon (talk) 05:58, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Coloured portrait of shah Abbas i of the safavid dynasty.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [7], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". File permission problem with File:Picture of Karim Hakimi.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Picture of Karim Hakimi.png, which you've attributed to https://www.pinterest.com/pin/454582156115928531/. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 03:24, 21 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

You are still very confused. First, sources must explicitly back the text for which they are cited. Thus sources that don't mention a dynasty (like yours), can't be used to claim a dynasty existed. Please read WP:VERIFY and WP:RS. WP:VERIFY states:

The word "source" in Wikipedia has three meanings:

  • The type of the work (some examples include a document, an article, or a book)
  • The creator of the work (for example, the writer)
  • The publisher of the work (for example, Oxford University Press)

All three can affect reliability.

Base articles on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Source material must have been published, the definition of which for our purposes is "made available to the public in some form".[1] Unpublished materials are not considered reliable. Use sources that directly support the material presented in an article and are appropriate to the claims made. The appropriateness of any source depends on the context. The best sources have a professional structure in place for checking or analyzing facts, legal issues, evidence, and arguments. The greater the degree of scrutiny given to these issues, the more reliable the source. Be especially careful when sourcing content related to living people or medicine.

If available, academic and peer-reviewed publications are usually the most reliable sources, such as in history, medicine, and science.

Editors may also use material from reliable non-academic sources, particularly if it appears in respected mainstream publications. Other reliable sources include:

  • University-level textbooks
  • Books published by respected publishing houses
  • Magazines
  • Journals
  • Mainstream newspapers

A personal website is not reliably published. An architect, even one at a university, isn't a reliable source for history. If there was such a dynasty you could easily find good sources stating that it existed (using the word dynasty). What you are doing is interpreting sources, and that's original research. Doug Weller (talk) 11:00, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Missed the fact this editor is blocked, but I'll leave it there. Doug Weller (talk) 11:01, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doug weller. After reading what you said i should inform you the article: Azad, claims azad khan afghan created the azad dynasty, though i didnt add this edit. If it is no trouble, could you simply write he was a king and reference it to the encyclopedia iranica article about him (since that source claims he delcared himself khan) Artin Mehraban (talk) 03:54, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|1=I have since stopped my copyright infringes. Since Lois aragons last rant I have stopped added own research images and articles and I have stopped adding copyright infringement. And I must admit it was a mistake to make the page Azad empire but if Azad khan afghan declares himself King then there must have been an empire. He did rule over a geographical entity and participated in wars to expand his borders. His ability to circulate currency is further evidence. On my edit I added sources to prove he was a king not to prove his empires existence though he did rule over a geographical entity since it was list of KINGS of Persia not list of Empires of Persia. It was not a hoax article the empire existed and he even circulated currency. But it had no name and was small and unpopular. But that geographic entity existed and there were wars to keep it alive. Out of lack of any name provided by historians I did what happens to many other empires and named it after it's first king Azad khan afghan. Same happened with the Ottoman Empire with its first king being osman. All evidence of what I just said can be found in the reference list of Azad khan afghan article and my reverted edits on list of KINGS of Persia.}}

You're still misunderstanding the core principle of original research. Wikipedia editors can't say 'someone was a king of some land and therefore it must have been an empire so I'll write an article about an empire.' We need reliable sources to call it an empire. Additionally it was only earlier today that you uploaded this copyrighted image. Sam Walton (talk) 12:04, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What was the images name? Because I don't remember uploading anything that was copyrighted. And for those images that were copyrighted, I explained how they would be in fair use.

And why did you remove the image of Azad khan afghan from his article? That image was in fair use and was accurate. Can you please explain calmly.

Hello this is my second account. I'm artin Mehraban and I shouldn't continue to defend myself when I know I've done wrong. Though IV said sorry many times and yet continued my wrongdoings, you should understand that I did not mean to violate Wikipedia policy and I did noT mean to create hoax pages and make claims without proper sourcing. Samwalton9, i have used wikipedia many time in a public library with free wifi. though i dont think people who visit the library are too interested in wikipedia (since there are books as sources), i have also edited wikipedia in mccdonalds free wifi. Can this cause any problems for other users?

I've also made many many bad edits and since i cant revert, ill list the recently made bad edits here. of course dont trouble yourself, as im sure your busy (doug weller and samwalton9). but if any other editors feel my bad edits need to be reverted see the list below (note i have made many decent or good edits as well)

list:

  • Karim Hakimi (image of the article) Also some editor added a link to CAD when the dollar sign was shown. what he did: $. this is the wrong CAD and needs to be changed to canadian dollar: $
  • Karim khan zand (i added a cloured version of the original portrait. pretty sure its not a copyright vio but just in case, i added it here)
  • Coele-Syria. I added the Persian period, without realizing that, the article was about a Macedonian province, and not a syrian region. (the maps of the achaemenid empire need to be removed basically)
  • list of kings of persia section median empire. (I added kashtariti as a predessesor of deioces, though he wasnt and was simply the leader of a city. I would like any editor who removes this edit, to also add kashtariti as deioces father (in the family relations section. of course if im wrong dont add that)
  • list of kings of persia sections: Muzaffarids, kara koyunlu, ak koyunlu (Those empires were originally shown in a different way and i made them in the same format as the other empires. but i didnt make any links to other articles example: Nader Shah. though the information is accurate and you will find sources (wikipedia also states the same details that i included but alas wikipedia articles cant be used by wikipedia as a source), there are a few issues and instead of reverting, i would like editors to fix this problem. i just didnt see why those 3 dynasties had to be formatted differently for some reason. And yes their territories included parts of modern day iran. in fact the muzzafarids were right in the middle of modern iran, while the ak koyunlu's borders seem to be based of the iranian plateau according to the map. and the kara koyunlu ruled iranian azerbaijan. I beleive i also made a few errors with the dating. I also wanna let editors know that in arabic, ibn means son of. so if one of their full names is for example: artin ibn amir, then you know that kings father/family relation is amir.
  • walter koenig )I added an image of walters koenigs signature according to his website. i claimed it as my own and so it was removed. id like someone to upload it as copyrighted and to explain why it is in fair use.)
  • (there were probably more than this, but this is all i can think of)

I'd quickly like to mention that the azad empire article was my first and last hoax article. though i created other pages that started out badly, with limited information and no sourcing, other users were able to fix them, but they werent hoaxes. I've still made many copyright vios which i understand, but i dont consitstently make hoax articles, only once. (examples of articles created by artin that turned out well: Karim Hakimi & Kashtariti)

My last will on wikipedia is for the image of azad khan afghan be added back. not the duplicate, but the original. Its not a copyright VIO as i explained why its in fair use, it has good sourcing, coming from the british library. If theres a reason it shouldnt be added back to the azad khan article, please do not tell me. i dont want to waste your time. his article seemed almost empty and so i wanted to contribute so i searched the web to find portraits, info, etc about him to add on. Orphaned non-free image File:Portrait of Azad khan afghan, at the court of karim khan.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Portrait of Azad khan afghan, at the court of karim khan.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:47, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I may have missed it somewhere in the fairly extensive here. But you state, above, that this is your secondary account. Given that this should, as a matter of Wikipedia policy, be freely stipulated, what is your primary account? --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:06, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Anthony Bradbury: They were referring to Artin Mehraba2, an account they created to make that post here, which has been blocked for block evasion. Sam Walton (talk) 21:25, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK and thank you. Why would they trouble to make a sock account when their access to the talk page of the primary account is available?

Because for some reason it would not allow me to edit my talk page. Also I am blocked and If like it if you add that image to the Azad khan afghan page yourself, since I am powerless to help

I admit my copyright violations are consistant but I have only made 1 hoax page. And I was not purposely trying to vandalize Wikipedia, I just wanted to make a contribution based on sources from webstie: Azadkhanafghan.Com. I though it was reliable because the creator of the website was from the University of Massachusetts after I did a web searcG. I admit to copyright vios but I have stopped since 1 day before I was banned. The last copyright violation I made was when I uploaded a cropped version of a copyrighted image of Azad khan afghan. I didn't violite on purpose. My reason is that On the Wikipedia app wide images appear at the beginning of an article bUT tall images don't. Because of that the image that was placed as azad khans portrait did.not appear first and the first image to appear was his coins. So I uploaded a version of the portrait that was wider so that it would appear on the Wikipedia app Azad khan afghan page first, not realising it violates copyright. I didn't mean to do these things though I was warned many times to get a mentor, but because uses kept calling me a nuisance and an annoyance, I didn't want to bother anybody. I ask for a second chance to redeem myself. I will stop all copyright vios and I will ask a mentor/Wikipedia expert before saving a page. I have no intent to vandalize on wikipedia and I just wanted to contribute. Not to mention that i have made alt of good articles and non copyright vios like the kashtariti article and the portraits of Sadiq khan, Jafar khan, and other articles from that website. I beleive I deserve a second chance and If I make more mistakes THEN ban me for everArtin Mehraban (talk) 15:01, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Artin, please be patient. You have an unblock request a few sections above here which another administrator will review in time. Evading your block by creating new accounts is not the way forward and will make it less likely that you will be unblocked. Sam Walton (talk) 13:39, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello I am Artin Mehraban and I understand that I made consistent copyright violations and one hoax page but I did not do these things to vandalize Wikipedia. I didn't do these things on purpose. I love persian history and I just wanted to contribute. In fact I have created quite a few good non hoax articles that were edited by other users. I have also made quite a few helpfull contributions and i can make more. The hoax article I created was because of my bad interpretation of information from the website azadkhanafghan.Com which I thought was a good source because the creator of the site was from the University of Massachusetts. as for my other accounts, I used them to appeal my blocks because at times it would not allow me to appeal on my talk page using the account Artin Mehraban. I also did this so I could appeal my block on the talk page of an administrator. As for user Meeeep101, I did not create that account. I promise I will not make more mistakes again and I will seek the aide of a wikipedia mentor Artin Mehraban (talk) 15:27, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Under the circumstances, a standard offer approach could be taken for this case. PhilKnight (talk) 17:04, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

.

Ok. i did create other accounts but not to evade block. i did that for these reasons:

  • For some reason it did not let me edit my own talk page
  • I needed to communicate with other administrators.

The administrator who banned me beleived that an account called meeeep101 was my creation under WP:Duck. I did not create that account, and (being a muslim) i am not allowed to lie. Considering users like HistoryofIran and LouisAragon have been angry by me they COULD have done this so that standard offer would be broken since it says not to make sock accounts and etc. I did not make that account and i used account Artin Mehraba2 to write something on my talk page when it for some reason didnt allow me to, and i used account Artin Mehraban101 to speack to administrators. Had i really wanted to continue editing unlawfully, i would obviously make a nam that is not artin Mehraban. since the 2 accounts i made have the same name as my main account, its obvious i was not trying to hide anything. I will wait 6 months and see what happens. Artin Mehraban (talk) 19:58, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I really really want to edit on Wikipedia. I know I've made a lot of copyright violations and I'm sorry. I'll never do it again I swear. Is there any way I can prove to you that if I am allowed back on Wikipedia, I won't make copyright violations again. Most of my edits were helpful to wikipedia and articles on Persian history are really weak and need expanding. Please please please give me a second chance, I won't make copyright violations again. I really don't have any evil intent for vandalizing or anything. Please give me a second chance, I won't copyvio again I promiseArtin Mehraban (talk) 15:27, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

On the talk page of your account History of Persia you announce your intention to continue creating sockpuppet accounts. I cannot therefore accept that this request is sincere. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:45, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recommendation

[edit]

If you want to continue editing, you should immediately stop creating sock accounts and editing with IPs. As soon as you are discovered, everything your have done is subject to immediate removal. This is just a waste of your time. It takes a lot less time to remove content than it does to add it.

Instead, I'd recommend you review Wikipedia:Standard offer and especially the recommendation to make constructive edits to other projects. If you are able to constructively contribute on another project and through those contributions demonstrate copyright compliance and an understanding of verifiability, including utilizing adequate sourcing so that hoax/original research concerns are eradicated, the odds of your block being lifted are substantially higher.

The longer your list of socks grows, however, the more difficult you are likely to find it to contribute without having to worry that what you add will be undone. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:49, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you can save time by only removing edits which violate Wikipedia policy? I dont think my edits on Karim Khan violated any copyright issue and non of it was hoax. I included all my references. so what is the complaint?

Artin Mehraban (talk) 23:13, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are currently a blocked user. Have you not read WP:EVASION or Wikipedia:Blocking policy? Your block applies to you personally, not just this account. Every edit you make "violates Wikipedia policy" (except edits to your own talk page), that is why they are being removed. If you want to edit Wikipedia again, I strongly suggest you follow Moonriddengirl's advice. It's really the only plausible way; otherwise you're just wasting your time because, as she says, "It takes a lot less time for us to remove content than it does for you to add it".--William Thweatt TalkContribs 23:57, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Map of Qajar empire territorial loses.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:Achaemenid empire greatest extent.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Achaemenid empire greatest extent.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
