Lists

[edit]

I have planned on creating List of people who walked on the Moon, split off from List of Apollo astronauts. That would give us one of our two lists. I think the other list could be List of missions to the Moon. This gives us a list specific to the event, and another more international list. Thoughts? Kees08 (Talk) 04:28, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If it were me, I would just raise List of Apollo astronauts to FL. Easier project in my opinion. We have limited time.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 05:19, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since I am stubborn and overconfident, I started a draft for people who have walked on the Moon. Once the table is cleaned up, I can write an intro paragraph (include the first and last things said on the Moon for example). and other things like first to drive on the Moon. Hopefully could finish it out by the end of the month. I will start citing it with book citations probably this weekend. Kees08 (Talk) 07:03, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Progress

[edit]

Aldrin's article passed GAN and is at A-class review in the MILHIST project. Apollo 11 is also up for A-class right now. Collins passed GA recently and will be nominated for A-class when I have time. Armstrong is officially a featured article, though there are a couple things I still want to improve on it. I have not started to work on any of the DYK or OTD articles yet, and only have a little work done on the list I noted above (in my userspace currently). Just a general update, making a lot of progress! Kees08 (Talk) 21:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Another update; Apollo 11 is now a FA, Aldrin and Collins are both at FAC, and I am working on getting List of people who have walked on the Moon ready for FLC (maybe a week or two?). Sputnik 1 was one of our DYK targets and is currently going through the nomination process after it was made a GA. Once I get the FLC submitted, I will begin working on the DYK articles. Library

[edit]

Here is my growing library:

  • Tereshkova, Valentina (2003). "The "First Lady of Space" Remembers". Quest: The History of Spaceflight Quarterly. 10 (2). Space Studies Department, University of North Dakota: 6–21.
  • Kelly, Thomas J. (2001). Moon Lander: How We Developed the Apollo Lunar Module. Smithsonian Institution Press. ISBN 9781588343611.
  • Robert,, Kurson, (2018). Rocket Men: The Daring Odyssey of Apollo 8 and the Astronauts Who Made Man's First Journey to the Moon. New York: Random House Publishing Group. ISBN 978-0812988703.{{cite book}}: CS1 maint: extra punctuation (link) CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link)

Ping Kees08. Can you list any of your books about Russian spaceflight, especially those that mention Leonov and Tereshkova, that may be useful to me.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 23:04, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • 'Histories of the Soviet/Russian Space Program Volume 2
  • The Soviet Space Rae with Apollo Siddiqi
  • The First Soviet Cosmonaut Team: Their Lives and Legacies Burgess (pretty sure I have it...still looking)

Should be all I have right now. Most of my writings focus on astronauts for now. Wehwalt may have some books since Leonov and Scott collaborated on one. Kees08 (Talk) 23:32, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have the Scott/Leonov book. Deke Slayton's memoirs also discusses his interactions with the Russians on Apollo-Soyuz. I don't have much more than that on the Russian program.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:41, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both. I will keep those in mind. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 00:07, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just bought Soviet and Russian Lunar Exploration by Harvey for the Zond and Luna articles. Kees08 (Talk) 03:16, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just received in the mail The Partnership: A NASA History of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 18:44, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've been working towards getting List of unmanned NASA missions up to featured list - would it be a good candidate for this? --DannyS712 (talk) 04:10, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DannyS712: sorry, I only now noticed this post. Absolutely, that would be great. I am not sure if there is enough time but we can certainly get that posted. We could easily IAR the Mon/Fri limit for FLs on the Main Page. If you have time please do nominate it for FL. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 11:03, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Coffeeandcrumbs: nominated, see Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of uncrewed NASA missions/archive1 --DannyS712 (talk) 15:44, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
