Copyedit request for Rob-B-Hood
I've submitted Rob-B-Hood to the League of Copyeditors, but they have been taking a while to respond. So, if anyone of you are free, please go and copyedit the article. Thanks.--Alasdair 00:56, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Bus Uncle to appear on main page on Sept 7
This just in! It seems that The Bus Uncle is chosen to be on the main page on September 7! It's totally unbelievable!--Alasdair 06:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- That is fantastic, but the image, which will be soon displayed on the Main Page, is not related to the incident. That is only a random bus image. Consider changing it. --Jackl 09:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think comments would be more noticable on Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/September 7, 2007. Anyway we are constrained because stills from the clip itself cannot be on main page (not fair use). This is better than no image, which quite a number of recent film/song TFAs have sported. Resurgent insurgent 00:59, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Doesn't matter now, I've taken a pic of a Route 68X bus on the road and uploaded it to Wikipedia. It's currently being used.--Alasdair 01:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Looking good. Benjwong 02:22, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Milton Friedman
I would like to add Milton Friedman into the WP:HK because he is very related to Hong Kong. Any idea? Raymond Giggs 12:30, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
You do not need to ask, but in this case, I don't think Milton is very related to Hong Kong. he just said something about Hong Kong. --Jackl 09:48, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Rob-B-Hood FAC
Hello,
Just to let you know, I've nominated Rob-B-Hood for featured article status. Feel free to go there and post your comments on it, since few people have said anything so far.--Alasdair 13:55, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Help!
We need a bit of help determining the notability of a video game from Hong Kong called Little Fighter Online. We are unable to find any English sources to prove its notability, and the main one that has been used up to now is this page, which none of the editors concerned can actually read! Any help on the contents of the page and whether or not it is a reliable source, and whether or not it proves the game's notability, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Miremare 17:00, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Winning a Hong Kong Trade Development Council (ref 2) award gives it notability.--Alasdair 07:20, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have looked the page you have given and it is not in English at all but is simplified Chinese. Do your users concerned don't know how to read simplified Chinese?(Addaick 12:21, 12 September 2007 (UTC))
- No, that's why I brought it here, nobody can read it. Can you provide any details on it? Miremare 13:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I am sorry to say that the web page actually can't provide any further information to the Little Fighter Online article. May be we can search for other web page:) (Addaick 12:48, 13 September 2007 (UTC))
- Yes, hopefully there are others too. What kind of page is the one I linked to? Is it promotional or a review or other feature on the game? Is games.tom.com a reliable source for references? Miremare 17:36, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Generally, that page is used to introduce the game. For example, it gives a brief information of each mode. That's all. Interestingly it seems that the Wikipedia article has more information than that page. If you ask about whether tom.com is reliable, I can say Yes since many games can also found there. I am not a professional game player but I think you can find more info in sina.com, which is a bigger website for introducing games but most likely in Chinese. I suggest you find help from users which come from Hong Kong also:) (Addaick 08:14, 14 September 2007 (UTC))
- Yes, it would be useful. :) Thanks for your help. Miremare 17:48, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

- I added a Chinese video game category. The pictures on that page need licenses or they will all end up getting deleted. Benjwong 17:25, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- So, what about the games.tom.com article? Should it be added as reference, and if so, what should be done for non-Chinese speakers? Maybe if someone on the talk page certifies it as actual Chinese reference about the game (for non-Chinese speakers doubting that), it would prevent it from being removed again? The AfD also had turned up two other references, but they are in yet another language, so the problem is the same - someone not understanding them might remove them. --Allefant 09:48, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think that it is a good way for someone certificating that the reference is real and is notability enough to be listed on the reference list. (Addaick 12:33, 19 September 2007 (UTC))

The English video game reviewers can barely cover Japanese games that haven't been ported to English. Chinese games are no different. To require an English source for an international game is not possible. Benjwong 21:25, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Collaboration of the Month
The subject of possibly disabling our Collaboration of the Month was brought up a few months ago (see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hong Kong#Our COTM) and I don't see any opposition so far. I'll give it a few more days and if there are still no objections, I'll be putting the Template:Historical on it and delinking it from pages around WP. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 19:17, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- Alright I've disabled the COTM. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 02:51, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Some good news
The Hong Kong article was ranked top 19 out of 2 million wikipedia pages on views for the month of July 2007. Check out the statistics. It just beat Dragonball Z by alittle. Benjwong 22:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's good news. And it looks like the article was ranked higher than any other articles of countries or cities. But it makes me sad that the Dragon Ball Z article is ranked so high, and that just a few ranks below is List of Pokémon. There are too many otakus on WP. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 04:01, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Not as much otaku as there are juvenile kids. _dk 04:04, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I think a number of notable Western magazines wrote about the anniversary. Most of them basically grudgingly admitted that Hong Kong didn't go to hell under PRC rule like they predicted 10 years ago. What annoys me is that they're always talking about how the PRC doesn't give HK true democracy and universal suffrage, but they never really talk about how the British never gave HK democracy either until the last few years of colonial rule when the Brits know they don't have to deal with the long-term consequences of universal suffrage in HK. Democracy is need in HK for sure, but Western media doesn't really care about HK, they just want another reason to blast the PRC. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 19:59, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- The situation is different between British or PRC rule. Hong Kong emerged as middle class society in mid-1980s and hence citizens became more and more demanding on civil rights. It was the time of worry about the future of Hong Kong. You might notice more social movements for Hong Kong citizens themselves even since. People cared more than livelihood. Human rights, universal suffrage, nationality, freedom of speech, religion and more have been the hot topics in Hong Kong from 1980s. And more, PRC and Paramount Leader Deng promised that Hong Kong citizens will have the right of universal suffrage after 1997. The pledge has never been realised. If PRC has already done what they promised to Hong Kong citizen, no media could say a word against PRC on this issue. — HenryLi (Talk) 08:13, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I want HK to have universal suffrage, and I know that HKers have become much more politically active after 1997 - I think that's good. My only point is that Western media only wants a reason to say negative things about PRC when they talk about democracy in HK. They don't care as much about HK itself. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 14:13, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ok this depends. The one country two system wasn't designed to buy HK time. It was designed to give the PRC about 50 years to figure out what to do with HK. You should thank the western media. If a hair moves the wrong way, the world will point fingers at the PRC as if to say "the British handled HK better than you." Maybe not on universal suffrage, but at least on some issues. If the PRC was really afraid of western media, they would have dumped the CCP in favor of another party. It is the easiest international target right now. Easier than any terror organization, they are sitting duck for the media especially for the upcoming olympics. Benjwong 21:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Proposed move Clock Tower, Hong Kong --> Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower
An editor has expressed interest in moving the Clock Tower, Hong Kong article to Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower or the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower. Interested editors should contribute to the discussion found under the Requested Move heading on the Clock Tower talk page. Luke! 17:25, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower would seem better. Benjwong 17:34, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Those district emblems
Alright I've posted a question on the Media copyright questions board to ask if I can upload those district emblems here in English WP under non-free fair use[1]. Hopefully the answer is yes. I have them all saved in my local computer - actually I just downloaded them off Chinese WP. If I get no objections on the Media copyright questions board, I'll upload them and stick them back in each of the district's articles. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 15:51, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, there didn't seem to be any objections, so I've uploaded all the district emblems under fair use. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:45, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
A rewrite on Wah Yan College Cats - first draft
I am now attempting on a rewrite of Wah Yan College Cats on the basis of reliable sources. The article was deleted earlier in April through AfD because it was considered non-notable. The first draft is at User:Raphaelmak/Workpages/Wah Yan College Cats. I am considering to use a number of newspaper articles I have found as sources, as WP:CORP states that newspaper articles that are not published by the subject or at the direction of the subject qualifies as secondary sources, and in turn qualifies notability. Any constructive comments welcome. --:Raphaelmak: [talk] [contribs] 13:47, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
I have added more sourced information to the draft, please comment. --:Raphaelmak: [talk] [contribs] 09:45, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Motorola CPU articles
The articles list contains Motorola_6800 and a number of other CPU articles, including 68k. These articles probably should not be included in this project, as they have no particular link to Hong Kong. Robert Hiller 16:05, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- I haven't looked at the other articles besides Motorola 6800 - it seems like the WPHK tag was added by User:Sesshomaru in August.[2] But currently the article makes no mention of Hong Kong whatsoever. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:18, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Which dim sum
Can someone identify this dim sum? The photo might be useful. Badagnani 16:44, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- It is 豆苗餃 (Tau Miu Kau in Hong Kong Cantonese, Pea shoot dumpling and bean sprout dumpling in English). I think it is a new kind of Hong Kong dim sum that was "invented" in Hong Kong restaurants in a few years ago. — HenryLi (Talk) 17:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, it looks like a see-through (clear) jiaozi to me. I see some green vegetables in there too (maybe gailan leaves?). Can we make an article for this? Badagnani 17:17, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- You should start an article on it. I won't unfortunately. Benjwong 23:05, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I can see something white inside the dumpling and I think there is prawns too. Is it? (Addaick 14:07, 7 October 2007 (UTC))

Consensus sought on proposed merging of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong with Madame Tussauds
Dear folks, an editor named 'Rtphokie' has recently suggest the merging of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong with Madame Tussauds. While I understand the rationale for the merge, I'm concerned about the prospect of vandalism, uncited edits (usually anonymous) and edit wars which are reportedly high on Madame Tussauds page itself (according to its history logs) and most importantly, the likely diminishing of the Hong Kong identity in it. I would greatly appreciate if interested editors could discuss at the article talk page so that we could reach a consensus on this matter soon. Thank you. -- Aldwinteo 04:20, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've left a note earlier for 'Rtphokie' and he has responded on the article talk page. Kindly review and comment. -- Aldwinteo 14:30, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm pleased to inform that the above merger issue has been fully resolved as per discussion & follow-up action mentioned on its talk page recently. Much thanks to Hong Qi Gong & Luke! for their timely feedback & support in the discussion. As I've further expanded & updated its content recently, I've nominated the article for DYK review so that its exposure can help to raise the profile of HK-related articles & WikiProject Hong Kong. FYI. -- Aldwinteo 05:55, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Revival
Just want to notify those who are interested that Hongkongers has been created again. I'm not sure if there're sufficient reasons for doing that. Cheers.--K.C. Tang 09:55, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
I've put a stub tag on it. One reference was provided for the article, but I haven't read it yet. The main issue last time was there wasn't any reliable source for the term "Hong Konger" itself. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 14:13, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- I guess it's not a problem of source, but rather this kind of -er/-ian article is not encyclopedic. It will either remain a stub, or become a long long personal essay.--K.C. Tang 02:27, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you guys want to see how un-encyclopedic the old Hongkonger article was. I have pasted the old contents here. If this article stays, please do not use surveys, stereotypes and random assumptions. I still think the term is street talk used by newspapers. But references can change that. Hatred

Two new categories for the government
What with all the government re-organisation in recent years, and all the restructuring that took place after the handover, there are a lot of government positions and offices that are now defunct or abolished. So I've created two new categories for this:
- Category:Hong Kong government defunct offices
- Category:Defunct positions of the Hong Kong Government
Please re-categorise articles if you come across any that would appropriately fit into these categories. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 09:12, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Getting rid of Current events in Hong Kong?
What do you other editors think of getting rid of Current events in Hong Kong?
- 95% of the time, I am the only one updating it and archiving it, and I don't think many people actually visit the page.
- All the items are replicated on Portal:Hong Kong; and I'll keep updating the news item portion of the portal if we got rid of the current events page.
- All the major current events pages are now fully integrated into Portal:Current events. I asked on that portal's Talk page a while ago whether we can integrate the HK current events page into it, and I got no response. (And it probably doesn't need it because there's a specific subpage for China.)
Let me know what you think. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 17:15, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I think we can get rid of that for the reasons you stated. Cheers.--K.C. Tang 07:13, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
If there are no objections in the next few days, I'll put the Template:Historical template on it and de-link from other pages. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 15:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sure. As long as we have 1 place to keep up with the current news. Keep the news update with Portal:Hong Kong please. Benjwong 05:24, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

MTR-KCR merge
How should we do this? Technically MTRC is not buying KCRC. But for all practical purposes, it is, and it will basically be a new company. Hong Kong Railway Corporation has been nominated for deletion, based on the fact that the company's English name is still going to be MTRC. Will KCRC technically still exist after the merger? Will the KCR lines all be renamed to MTR? Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:12, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Should Hong Kong Railway Corporation be kept just for literal translation?? and response of HongQiGong, KCRC will exist, but, only after 50 years :P....
Let me make sure I got all the facts right here, and correct me if I'm wrong:
- MTRC is taking over operation of the KCR.
- KCRC will still exist.
- KCR lines will still be named KCR.
So what kind of article editing do we need to do? Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 17:38, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- Wouldn't the sensible thing be just to mention that KCR is a wholly-owned operating subsidiary of MTR? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not familiar with all the details yet but is this situation akin to a new hotel brand joining an already existing hotel brand? Luke! (talk) 03:10, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- Technically the answer is no. KCRC will still own the KCR system, but MTRC will be operating it on loan, with part of the profits going to KCRC. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 05:40, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- If HongQiGong is correct on this, there is minimal changes needed to both articles other than updating the name of the TOC. - Mailer Diablo (talk) 08:50, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- Can someone confirm if I am correct though? I think Toyotaboy95 agrees that KCRC will still exist. I am getting my information from this - [3]. What I'm unsure about is - will they rename the KCR lines to MTR, but only retain the difference between the KCR and MTR in terms of how business is done? And if so, what kind of article editing should we do? Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 17:56, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- I would suggest moving the current MTRC article to MTR Corporation (1975) and putting the new one in the original article. Raymond Giggs 08:44, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Don't merge: I believe that leaving both articles by itself is the best option since each has their own unique history and would be incompatible and very long if merged Instead, adding more detailed sections to each about the merger would be best. -Herenthere (Talk) 19:14, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Plus, technically, MTRC is going to be the same company, except it is taking over the operation of the KCR also. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 21:32, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely retain separate KCR and KCRC articles for history, but post-merger information should probably be on the MTR and MTRC pages only (except for specific events related to the KCRC holding company). To answer H7G: post-merger, everything is branded MTR. As for "HKRC", I think the correct way of dealing with the "literal translation" issue is to merge the information onto MTRC and then set a redirect on HKRC. Kelvinc (talk) 13:45, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've checked up, it looks like the lines will be renamed and attrition to MTR post-merger. [4] On 2 Dec, the KCR lines would probably be added on with a new map to update the changes, and the history would have the addition of the 50-year operating concession (not the entire history). The history of the lines are left to the KCR article, which would be changed to past tense like how UK TOCs run out of their operating concessions (See Thameslink for example). I don't there is a need for a new MTRCL article being separated, it looks like some form of acquisition rather than a whole new company. This would also be the opportunity to give MTR a throughout clean-up to maintain its FA status.- Mailer Diablo (talk) 17:05, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Arg. That's going to be a lot of work. Every KCR line and station has an article right now, I think. So editing will be needed for them all. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 19:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

A historical but controversial subject
I am very tempted to create an article so called "mainland culture shock". This has to do with the plugging in of mainland citizens into HK culture. Before I do so does anyone have any objection? This will cover everything from bad behaviors to stereotyping to some historical aspect. It will be well sourced. Even though this is pretty obvious stuff. Benjwong (talk) 20:23, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- What are your sources? Be careful of violating the synthesis rule of original research. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 00:42, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- It is supposed that there were some academic researchers had studied this topic for years. A series of movies and tv dramas was on this topic. — HenryLi (Talk) 03:20, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well it seems to be something that is clearly a part of HK history (today) especially the ties with the traveling schemes. Mentioning it seem to be a direct target to the people and that is a concern. But not mentioning seems to hide a really important social history. We can start with a couple critical websites. Nytimes, usatoday. Use a book or two. I mean, what do you guys think? Is it a bad idea? Benjwong (talk) 06:44, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
You can probably find quite a bit of magazine and news articles talking about how HK has - or has not - changed since the handover or since China's opening up in the 80s. But can they be pieced together as a coherent topic without it violating the synthesis rule? Academic sources specifically on the so called "mainland culture shock" would be very helpful. The reason I think this can easily run the risk of synthesis is because it's not some physical object or definitive event, we're talking about a sociological phenonmenon that may not have received academic recognition. It's sort of like the term “香港人” that some of us were talking about before. We all know the term, just like we know about the mainland culture shock and the changes that HK has gone through in the past couple of decades, but that does not necessarily mean the topic has been given enough attention in the real world to be a topic on its own here on WP. Anyway, I am not necessarily against making an article for this subject matter. Just that we need to be careful of not synthesising a topic. An alternative to making the article, of course, is to add the subject matter into 1990s in Hong Kong and 2000s in Hong Kong. Right now, I don't think either article discusses things like HKers learning Mandarin practically en masse, or that many HK businesses have had to do business in mainland China, or people crossing the border for weekend shopping, etc etc. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 07:25, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Collaboration/FA push?
Anybody have any ideas on what article we can do a collaboration/FA push on? Currently I've got Stanley Internment Camp nominated for GA, and eventually I'll push for FA if it passes GA. There's a non-Hong Kong related article that I'm interested in making an FA push for (The Rape of Nanking (book)), but I was also thinking of maybe pushing either Leslie Cheung or Anita Mui.
One thing I'm interested in, which will take a lot of work, is pushing for a Hong Kong-related featured topic. One topic that comes to mind is Hong Kong during WW2, and it can include Battle of Hong Kong, Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, articles for the internment/POW camps (aside from the Stanley camp, another notable camp was at Shamshuipo, which coincidently was later used to house Vietnamese refugees, and there was also a camp in North Point for Canadian prisoners). Maybe include Gin Drinkers Line, but I don't know how much room that article has for expansion.
- I had found a book Not the Slightest Chance: The Defence of Hong Kong, 1941 [5] and another book The Battle for Hong Kong 1941-1945: Hostage to Fortune [6]. I had skimmed the former. It is a day to day witness evidences from different military units. — HenryLi (Talk) 16:21, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've seen the first book, but have not seen the second one. Thanks. I would love to bring both Battle of Hong Kong and Japanese occupation of Hong Kong up to FA standard. They'll both be a lot of work though. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 17:34, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Another possible topic is public transportation in Hong Kong, comprising of only the main articles like MTR (which is already an FA), KCR, Buses in Hong Kong, Taxicabs of Hong Kong, etc.
Yet another possible topic can be something that's entertainment related. Four out of our twelve FAs are actually entertainment-related (Jackie Chan, Hong Kong action cinema, Rob-B-Hood, Kung Fu Hustle). But the topic has to be narrowed down because there are many entertainment-related Hong Kong articles. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 18:44, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think we need many more contributors with a HK background. Alot of people signed up but are probably too busy with school and other activities. Benjwong (talk) 02:53, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- We could try for another featured list. Currently there is only one Hong Kong-related featured list. My suggestion is List of tallest buildings in Hong Kong. Although, I really don't mind. Luke! (talk) 05:20, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, we can do that. I've never pushed for a featured list before, but why not? But what do you think of a push for a featured topic? It'll basically be a prolonged task though. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 05:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Alright, it looks like User:Hydrogen Iodide was the creator of the list and has been the main contributor. He's continuing to do a great job on it and I've also copy-edited it a bit as well. I've commented in the Talk page some of the issues I've found. Let's take this to FL status. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 19:39, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks =). Note: Right now the Hong Kong building list contains too many redlinks for it to pass Featured list review. As mentioned here, a significant number of buildings appearing in the list need to have articles (FL criteria). In creating new building/skyscraper articles, however, I (we) have run into notability problems, as seen here. It would be a waste to create all these new articles and see them get deleted. Deletion review, Afd discussion, and notability talk failed to yield any consensus regarding notability of skyscrapers, although one participant said that this FL-critera needs to change in the Afd. discussion. Project members should take a look at this guideline and this for more information about getting List of tallest buildings in Hong Kong to FL-status. Cheers. Hydrogen Iodide (HI!) 20:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've left a note on the talk page of the FL criteria page asking if a minimum number of items on a list need to be articles, or what if some of the items on a list are just plain text, and not red-linked, if that would be a problem.[7] Hopefully they don't all need to be articles. But if they do, an option we might explore is grouping some of the buildings together in one article and hope that we can achieve notability that way. For example, I'm sure we can make just one article for all the The Belcher's Tower buildings. Likewise for all the other buildings that are from the same building group. (This actually pigues my interest in writing an article on Hong Kong's urban planning. It's probably one of the most, if not the most, sophisticated cities in the world in terms of urban planning.) Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 21:29, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Creating articles for The Belcher's, Victoria Towers Complex, Island Resort Complex, and Banyan Garden Complex will turn 16 of those redlinks blue. Let me know if you disagree with the name of the future article(s). Cheers. Hydrogen Iodide (HI!) 02:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- I need to see if they're going to be notable enough, or at least see if I can make them look notable. Google searches are mostly returning real estate agencies' websites. The Belcher's website just calls the complex "The Belcher's"[8], so I think that may be the best name to use for the article, and acticles for it actually exists in both Chinese and Portuguese Wikipedias ([9][10]). Of course, English WP is usually more strict. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 04:24, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
One other option that I thought of is to redirect the redlinks to articles for their property developers, assuming those articles exist, and add sections for the buildings in the articles for the property developers. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 01:36, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Victoria Towers and The Victoria Towers were deleted long ago. — HenryLi (Talk) 11:47, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
If the deletion discussion for the Four Points by Sheraton (Dubai) is any indication, creating articles to fulfill another article's intention to be featured content is acceptable. Though it is important to note that there was no consensus for deletion. Luke! (talk) 04:28, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Another option would be just shorten our tallest buildings section. Perhaps we could set an upper limit for Hong Kong's tallest buildings to be included on the list. Though as List of tallest buildings in Boston, List of tallest buildings in Philadelphia, and List of tallest buildings in Dallas will show, I don't think its' a problem either creating articles for all the buildings or nominating a list that has red-links. All three of these articles are featured lists and have red-links. Although, it is worth pointing out that their lists are considerably shorter for tallest builings only limiting them to the top 30. Thoughts? Luke! (talk) 23:19, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- An editor experienced in bringing tallest buildings lists to FL status (User:Raime) actually advised against shortening the list on the talk page of the Hong Kong building list. I think it's probably best to keep it at its current length. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 01:49, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Is there really such a thing as featured-list? Benjwong 02:15, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ignore that last comment. I see the dallas, boston and other lists are also featured. Benjwong 02:18, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Is there really such a thing as featured-list? Benjwong 02:15, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Actually I think I might work on sourcing Hong Kong itself. Large chunks of the article is not sourced and I fear it may be demoted if brought to a FAR. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 04:17, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Articles can only be featured once right? Benjwong 07:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- No, a featured article that fails a FAR may become featured again. But a FAR is much easier to pass than is a FAC. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 07:42, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Articles can only be featured once right? Benjwong 07:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Alright. Doesn't seem like there's much interest in pushing the tallest buildings list, and I count about 30 articles that need to be created before it's ready - FL criteria states that all or most of the items on the list have link to articles. Any other suggestions for an FA push? I know that Queen's Pier is currently a GA nominee, maybe we can push it to FA. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 18:53, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Cleaning out some sections
I would like to move the entire Nationality and citizenship section out of Politics of Hong Kong. I would rather move this to Hongkonger, Demographics of Hong Kong or even a new Citizenship of Hong Kong article. Any suggestion or comments? Benjwong (talk) 20:50, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- No reason why that section can't be in Politics of Hong Kong and other articles as well. But there's no such thing as Hong Kong citizenship, so I would suggest we don't create a new article called Citizenship of Hong Kong. Much of the content in an article like that I think is already covered in Right of abode issue, Hong Kong. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 21:22, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ok no prob. Benjwong (talk) 22:21, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello,
there are currently 13 articles in the scope of this project which are tagged with notability concerns. I have listed them here. (Note: this listing is based on a database snapshot of 12 March 2008 and may be slightly outdated.)
I would encourage members of this project to have a look at these articles, and see whether independent sources can be added, whether the articles can be merged into an article of larger scope, or possibly be deleted. Any help in cleaning up this backlog is appreciated. For further information, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Notability.
