Welcome!

Welcome to Beyoncé Knowles' WikiProject, created by stealing with guidance from WP:GAGA. There is a bit of work to do to get the project off the ground, so get stuck in! Adabow (talk · contribs) 21:24, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Important note to all editors about GA and FA nominations/reviews

A number of editors including myself have noted a decline in the quality of recent GA nominations relating to Beyoncé articles. Apologies for pissing on your bonfire, but ladies and gentleman GAs are supposed to represent our near-best articles on wikipedia and some of the recent Beyoncé ones have slipped through the net. Sweet Dreams (Beyoncé Knowles song) is the only one from the I Am... era which, in my view, is the standard you should all be striving towards. However there are some bad offenders such as Ego (Beyoncé Knowles song) and Broken-Hearted Girl, which stick out. Amongst the issues, are a number of MOS fails and unsourced unverified claims. Not forgetting to mention the poor quality of prose. Now to curb some of the negatives, its wonderful work that the project is doing... whatever the controversies with Beyoncé she is an important artist in the industry, like her or not, she's made a noticeable contribution to the industry and she is a standard setter. The speed of the progress of the project is excellent but it needs to come back to basics. Lets focus on quality and less haste. Reviews should take around a week if not more to be thorough. In light of the concerns some of the GAs will be taken to GAR... As they are nominated I will add them to this post so that you are all aware of what's happening. I think essentially the issues here are simply a combination of rushing through things and inexperienced reviewers. Note that members of the project should not be reviewing any articles related to Beyoncé even if you have not worked on them... it is a conflict of interest. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 05:59, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

As the user who started this hoopla, I of course agree with the above statements. Lets hope that the situation is improved, and I don't have to be the fly on your cream always. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:10, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
And this discussion and comments are a threshold level of tolerance for crappy reviews all across the music articles, just that the recent activities at Bey's articles are the most distrubing. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:14, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Me too. I may be involved in this too. And, I really support the action of taking ones with issues to GAR. Novice7 | Talk 06:16, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
I think the main problem about the state of the Queen B articles is that they have been written hastily and immediately nominated like there will be no more time in the world to edit them. Myself, involved in the SL project wanted to span it over time to make sure everything was right, and next thing I knew it was attempted to be nominated for FAC in a few days after initial expansion. I also was involved a bit in "Diva", but it was nominated before I could continue fixes. But not calling anyone out in particular, or her articles, it seems to be a trend across GANs. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 06:26, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
I agree. I'm not sure how a few of these got past GA reviewers, but they certainly don't deserve to be of GA status. As Candyo32 said, many of them have sloppily written prose and seem hastily created. --Cprice1000talk2me 15:18, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
  • I commend efforts being proposed and made here to improve the quality of articles, especially those listed as GAs. However, it is factually incorrect to say that GAs "are supposed to represent our *near best* articles". They are not: according to the GA criteria, "A good article is a *satisfactory* article that has not met the criteria for featured articles. The good article criteria measure *decent* articles". Good articles should be assessed against the GA criteria, not against other articles, which may be of considerably higher quality than required for GA. Thanks. Geometry guy 20:49, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

GA-worthy in current state?

Overall pass four out of ten. In my opinion three of these articles would fail utterly and completely. Sorry guys and girls. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 06:40, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I hope we can better this articles. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:55, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I just looked at Deja Vu article. It has some unsourced statements (or section like credits). Novice7 | Talk 07:04, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Well the Sasha Fierce things have just come up in the past few weeks. The BDay and Dangerously in Love GA's have gone downhill for a while now. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 07:12, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
And Irreplaceable is practically at FARC, at least 15 8 dead links. Tbhotch © Happy New Year 07:14, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
So guys, lets take up one article ata time and better it for trying to retain their status. Which one should we work on first? The FAs? They are my strong point obviously. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:26, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes. Well, from what I've seen reviews before 2008 were not this thorough and many articles passed. I know this is off-topic, but see Ashlee Simpson discography. So many unsourced additions.. Novice7 | Talk 07:27, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Might I suggest that the project stops nominating any more Beyoncé articles and focusses on improving the ones already given GA status to prevent them from being delisted. That has to be main priority. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 07:28, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Thats a good one Uniquboy, I believe SL is the last nomination atm that we should have. PRs are fine, like "Halo". We have to talk about the NFCC of the images too. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:36, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Maybe it would help (since we have some lead issues) to establish basic standards for what makes a good lead section.... e.g. When Love Takes Over, 4 Minutes (Madonna song) and Sweet Dreams (Beyoncé Knowles song) but not Ego (Beyoncé Knowles song) and most certainly not Broken-Hearted Girl. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 08:16, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Broken-Hearted Girl is definitely the worst and needs attention immediately. The prose is terrible and it's so choppy. In fact, most of them are like this. It's actually quite sad that these articles are in this poor condition; Beyoncé deserves better. :) I don't like how Singles Ladies has been ruined by so many copy edits; "too many cooks spoil the broth." Also, I agree with Lil-Unique1, they need to stop nominating articles of inferior quality and then having reviewers see past those problems and promoting them to GA status. I think 4 Minutes should be what they are all based on, since it has one of the best lead sections I've seen. --Cprice1000talk2me 15:18, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
The lead should be reflective of the song. "If I Were a Boy" suits, as it could be comparable to "4 Minutes" or "When Love Takes Over." But songs of smaller stature like "Broken-Hearted Girl", "Ego", "Why Don't You Love Me" should be similar to smaller scaled works like "Lil Freak" and "I Can Transform Ya." Seeing leads that are bigger than sections themselves should set off alarms. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 20:07, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes of course. Apologies I should have pointed that out. The thing with "Broken-Hearted Girl" is the lead is not all-encompassing and is of poor quality prose. That's the trouble. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 20:25, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Broken-Hearted Girl

I agree that Broken-Hearted Girl is sub-standard. For some reason I felt a bit rushed when I put it together, and have neglected it a bit. However Lil-Unique, can I ask what about its lead is not up-to-scratch? It is a smaller article, as was not released in the US, and had a poor response elsewhere, therefore there are not many sources of info. Consequently, the lead is smaller, as there is less to cover from the body. Also, with the release section, is it not meant to cover the history pretty broadly? I plan to do a good revamp of it, though. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:27, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Articles don't have to have set sections. You give them sections according to the information available. Take Hello Good Morning by Diddy-Dirty Money. It has no information about its background like "BCG" therefore rather than try to fudge a section I've started off with composition. I would recommend you merge the background and composition sections as both are quite small. Folllow this format:
"BCG" is a blah blah blah song, written by XYZ. It is written in the musical key of ... with a chord progression and time signature of abc. It was produced by StarGate, who used a piano-based melody for the base of the production. According to Mr Smith... "it also uses tender strings and hollow drums". Initially it was intended to be released as the sixth single (source), but was eventually released as the seventh (source). Etc.... The lead we can address after the rest of the article is fixed. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 08:42, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
I don't suppose there is any way at all that [http://www.allgigs.co.uk/view/review/4321/Beyonce_Broken_Hearted_Girl_Single_Review.html is reliable? Shame. it has quite a detailed analysis... Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry but its not reliable. However a quick search of google comes up with the following sources:

Ironic that you've used this source in the composition section but not in the review section. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 09:01, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Fraser McAlpine's reviews aren't actually reviews. They don't offer any real criticism. He writes in such a sarcastic/joking tone that it is hard to tell when he is being serious and when he isn't. His writing is great for composition, but he doesn't really offer an opinion on the song. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:14, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

You've put nothing about the UK release despite the UK being one of the biggest music markets. Did you seriously not search google when expanding this article? It took me less than 5 mins to find these sources. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 08:57, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Is Female First actually reliable? Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:11, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
When it was discussed previously at RSN there have been few objections to it. See the article now... I've re-written the background section for you. Now by trawling through the album's many reviews as well as the sources above I expect you can follow suit fixing the rest of the article's sections including expanding the critical reception. I'm sure you'll agree this is more like it? -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 09:20, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Thank you. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Okay, so I did already nominate BHG for a GAR. Do you want me not to be bother with it? It just looks like you guys are trying to fix it up. I'm sorry again for passing it wrongfully. I really didn't take notice the standards of her other ones. nding·start 16:55, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Your comments at the GAR would be welcome. As I note above (in the same edit as this), articles should be assessed for GA status against the GA criteria, not the perceived quality of other GAs. Of course, all efforts at improving article quality are welcome. Geometry guy 20:49, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Of course each article should be taken on its own merit (different info is available for each) but as I've said in my comments above "BHG" has been rushed. The quality of prose is missing and so is vital information about the single which could have been found by looking at other Beyoncé articles and looking at which sources have been used. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 20:53, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Diva, Ego, Single Ladies, Radio

I have formatted all references on these articles. I have also put the year end and decade end charts for all songs of Beyonce apart from "Get Me Bodied, "Greenlight" and "Ring the Alarm". I have noted that "Irreplaceable" has a dead link from Rolling Stone, which i am not able to replace. I have already formatted all references in "Irreplaceable", replaced redirect links and dead links (except one or two). I will work on "Why Don't You Love Me" very soon. I know the articles has too many quotes. Sorry for that. And when all this is finished, i will open a second PR for "Single Ladies" and upgrade "Check on It" to GA. I have not been here lately because i was in some kind of serious trouble. But now i am here. And i will help to the maximum for my Queen B. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:38, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Sit down kiddo, its good to have my enthusiastic user back. :) Hope your real life issues never stop you again from editing here. :D I am very happy to see the developements on the GA articles. I personally was taking note of the FA articles of WP:BEY, and felt that all three have deteriorated in terms of prose and content. Esp, both DV and IRR, donot conform to WP:LEAD, have issues of NFCC, and slow poisoning in terms of fancruft. I am taking up the charge to clean the muck and the shit off their faces. Any one has any point? — Legolas (talk2me) 11:49, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I have some good news for you. The dead links (There were many) have already been replaced by me. I have formatted all references ++ I added some information to Critical Reception but i could not manage to write a better lead. You are infinite times better than me in these issues. And yes, i am very happy to be back and everything is alright now. I am so happy. I have also added year end charts to ll articles of Beyonce. Jivesh Talk2Me 13:41, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I read your comments at Candy's talk page. I did not know about it. Novice7 gave me the link. Thank you for calling me an "enthusiastic" editor. I love Beyonce. Jivesh Talk2Me 13:44, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

You are enthusiastic, and that's really good. I felt you were a little gloomy that day and thought the discussion would cheer you up :) Novice7 | Talk 13:48, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes yeas, we know you love Bee, but another line of "I Love Queen BEEEE" and I will seriously suffer a brain damage, or might even hang myself!! Anybody has anything to say for the FAs? — Legolas (talk2me) 16:04, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Lol, Legolas :D Yes, about FAs, they are good, but I really don't see them parring with 4 Minutes or some other recent FAs. For example Irreplacable, Credits (no source), what is MT in certifications (actually I don't know). And, I don't know about this, but, is the screenshot okay? I mean NFCC?? Also, usage of "#", and some unsourced statements. Novice7 | Talk 16:25, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Don't worry Legolas, i will never repeat that sentence, i mean i will try my best because i do not want you to hang yourself as i need your help nearly everyday. On which articles do you want me to work? Something i will love to do is formatting references in all the articles. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Big talks

Weeks ago when i was having some kind of personal problems, i got a message informing that Beyonce articles require immediate attention. I have tried my best to improve "Why Don't You Love Me", "Upgrade U", "Irreplaceable", "Suga Mama", "Ring The Alarm" (which i have not finished yet), "Diva", "Ego", "Single Ladies", "Sweet Dreams" (which was declared as a model to follow.. Just to inform you it has more than 30 wrongly fixed references... formatting errors... I have already fixed them.). I even created an article for "Freakum Dress" which was kept (note that very few Beyonce members wiki-project commented there, which is good so that it is not referred to as canvassing). I even greatly expanded the composition section of "Halo". But i will not always be here. Just having a wiki-project and doing big talks is not enough. We should work together. I wish to tell firmly that i am not being rude. I just want to motivate you. Spare some time for Beyonce. Or else it is better you remove your name from the wiki-project. Don't think that i have so much time to be on Wikipedia. But i do the maximum,. I also wish to tell all of you that i get time to be here not because i do not concentrate in my studies. On the contrary, I am among the top 3 best students in my college having "six upper 6 classes" with more that 300 pupils. Please participate and help me fix Beyonce articles. Her album will be dropping soon. Then do you think that you will like to work on her previous articles? I do not think so. Therefore i appeal to all of you to begin the work seriously. Please. I had no intention of offending anyone. AND I ALSO WISH TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM NOT FLATTERING MYSELF. I DO NOT LIKE TO SHOW OFF. I JUST WANT YOU ALL TO WORK LIKE A TEAM. Jivesh Talk2Me 13:20, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Things do get into your head don't they? And now you did what you wanted to. If this doesnot put off people, then there's somethinjg wrong with them. Sorry boss, I take leave from you and your queen. My respect for you as the editor just fuzzed off. Before I leave, one recommendation. Know what you speak before even writing. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:10, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Please do not be angry. I told you that i did not mean to be rude. Please Legolas, forgive me. I said all this because i do not see anyone really working on Beyonce articles, i mean all those FAs articles require immediate attention. On top of all this, i left such a message because my exams will be starting soon. It will last for two months (obviously, i will stop editing during tis period) and when i will be back, Beyonce's fourth album will be dropping. So do you really think anyone will be interested in working on her old songs then? NO. Everyone will be busy editing her new singles and the rest. Please Legolas. Forgive me if you think i was rude. Try to understand what i wanted to do. Jivesh Talk2Me 19:18, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
I hope you will accept my apologies. See Legolas, i know that sometimes i talk too much but you should not every-time take everything so seriously. I mean, i am not as experienced, mature, and comprehensive as you. This is how adolescents like me become adults. Don't you think everyone commits a considerably higher number of mistakes during adolescence. My point is most of us are not of your age, perhaps that is why my thoughts often differ. I am not trying to justify my above message. I still think that i have committed a mistake. Please reply. Jivesh Talk2Me 19:28, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Jivesh.... you seem to be under the impression that everyone has a keep and equal level of interest in Beyoncé that you do. Some editors who've joined the project do so out of their love for the artist and desire to improve her articles at leisure. Wikiprojects like this should co-ordinate efforts to improve articles. It is not a commitment to fix all her articles and make them GA as soon as possible, equally it shouldn't be a commitment about everyone equalling editing. People have the leisure to edit at their own expense and so perhaps people find your comments a little over-powering when you say "No one is helping me" etc. The project is about improving Beyoncé's articles, NOT helping one or two particular editors fulfil their desire to have a whole collection of GA and FA articles on the subject just for the sake of it. There's no race here... the editing should be leisurely and fun not a chore or target-based task like its turning into. I started a thread about the quality of articles because I was concerned that this project has being used a vehicle to simply create Beyonce articles for the sake of it.

While you might have the time to edit as much as you do, bare in mind that others may not. Additionally others may other editing interests too. While I applaud your enthusiasm I would ask that you be mindful that others might not share the same level of enthusiasm you have. This project should not be led by any single editor... it should be a friendly free-flowing thing that people can pop in and out of as they feel interested in making improvements. My main concerns were you were too focussed on creating articles for things such as Freakum Dress when there were (and still are) plenty of Beyonce articles requiring improvement. If your genuinely interested in improving the quality of articles before her new album arrives then focus on the existing ones instead of creating new ones. Jivesh ... I am saying this as a friend/mentor/fellow editor (whichever you think i am), it seems like you spend an aweful lot of time editing for personal satisfaction, this is fine but remember again that not everyone feels the same towards Beyonce or shares the same level of desire in editing her articles. Sorry I had to address some of the comments you've made on talkpages and certainly the messages you left above. Please continue your good work, I ask that you hold some perspective in your editing though. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 18:10, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey thank you my friend for explaining all this to me so kindly. I have already fixed nearly all B'Day singles except, "Greenlight". I have finished with "Deja Vu", "Ring The Alarm", "Irreplaceable", "Upgrade U", "Beautiful Liar", "Get Me Bodied" (almost). Actually i love Beyonce a lot (more than anyone can imagine) and i am expanding all her articles because i fell they lack too much of information. Thank you for being my friend and especially for always being patient with me. You are a very nice person. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:15, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

That's no problem, my concern is that comments like this: "AND I ALSO WISH TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM NOT FLATTERING MYSELF. I DO NOT LIKE TO SHOW OFF. I JUST WANT YOU ALL TO WORK LIKE A TEAM." show you probably need to start taking more breaks from wikipedia to remember their is a life away from the computer. Kick a football... listen to some Beyonce, TV, school work etc... -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 18:20, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

To tell you frankly, i am in a hurry to fix her articles for a simple reason. I will be having exams in near future and i will be away form Wikipedia for months and months. I will really miss editing. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:22, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

At the end of the day its your decision. But remember to enjoy editing. It shouldn't feel like a full-time job or that you're having to force others to help. They will help when they're free in the mean time you do what you can... you do a good job when you take your time. But remember not to become obsessed with it. obsession is not a good thing. Not good for the mental or physical health. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 18:28, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for late reply. Yes i will try my best but i think i am already too obsessed with Beyonce. For me, she is Irreplaceable. Thanks for all your support. See you very soon. Goodnight sweet dreams. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Feeding the "Anorexic" articles...

I've noticed that extremely talented users have made Beyoncé's singles AMAZING!!!! Passing GA Reviews with flying colors! But some articles (in this case "Song" articles) are just bottom of the barrel... To name a few:

These articles really need help... I've begun partial reconstruction, but I am basically a beginner at creating GA's.. And although I can find plenty of info, sometimes my wording/referencing is horrible.. And I'm sure other users can give a lot more information from their own sources! We just need you to speak-up and add to the page.. No one will bite your head off if you do something wrong, the fact is you're still helping! So please help "feed these anorexic articles," thank you :D Theuhohreo (talk) 17:18, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

So I've begun work on "Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song)" and would really love for people to add some insight into it! :D Theuhohreo (talk) 00:31, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
I will but tomorrow. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:58, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
What do you want me to do specifically? Do not worry about the references. I will format them appropriately. I saw you are using ref links but it is not really good. Use it to to at least format it the way you are doing it, then i will add the work, publisher, dates, authors, etc. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:37, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
I usually just use the refflinks to help format over used references into just one used multiple times and make it look neat for the time being. Right now I'm just putting as much info into the articles as i can. I really wanna make "Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song)" a FA! Mwahahahahahaaaa >:D I just feel that as Beyoncé's first official solo-single, I want it to get hella recognition. Theuhohreo (talk) 19:07, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Jimee i am so happy to have you here in this wiki-project. Thank you infinitely for being here. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:21, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
"Welcome To Hollywood" and "Summertime" are the only remaining articles. Jivesh Talk2Me 11:44, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

"Dangerously in Love 2"  Done "Amor Gitano"  Done "Welcome to Hollywood"  Done

I have already started to work on "Summertime". Then, i will finish "The Fighting Temptations". After that, i will say goodbye to Wikipedia (till December 2011). Jivesh Talk2Me 13:43, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Fourth album

A sandbox draft of Beyonce's next album has been started. Feel free to add to it, but please do not move it into mainspace or create a new article about the album without discussion. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:54, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Wishing on a star and Remix list

I'm not sure if Knowles version of "Wishing on a Star" is notable enough to stand on it's own but seeing what this team did with songs like "Fever" and "Kitty Kat" it'd be nice if we could expand the section on her cover of the song.

Also, I was wondering if it was appropriate to create an article of remixes officially commissioned by Knowles and her team such as this article from the GagaPedia. The list would only include remixes used in single releases and compilation and not unofficial remixes, mash-ups, etc. Ours would have to be completely referenced, though, simply to prevent users from adding unsourced remixes that could be unofficial. Amazon, iTunes and other similar sites can provide us with lists of offical remixes. RatiziAngeloucontribs 22:34, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

To the first point: the whole article can be expanded, including Beyonce's bit, but be sure not to give it undue weight.
As for a list of official remixes – I don't really see the point of doing that. To be honest there are enough articles to work on now before we even think about creating a somewhat trivial list like that. Adabow (talk · contribs) 00:48, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

GA reviews

Can I remind participants that generally they should not review other GA nominations put up by the project, unless they have had nothing to do with the article and can write a very NPOV review. Thank you. Adabow (talk · contribs) 03:43, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

The one reviewing the article just became a member of the project and he is not so used to editing Beyonce articles. He has no edits on I Am... Sasha Fierce. Jivesh Talk2Me 12:12, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Singles Chronology

I'm tired of reverting edits and having to fix things that are completely silly. The single order I remember was: Video Phone > Telephone > Put it in a Love Song > Run the World But when I attempted changing the previous single on Run the World to PIIALS from Telephone I got reverted. Someone needs to put their foot down on the matter and clearly my edits aren't being respected. RatiziAngeloucontribs 07:26, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

I thought that was the order too. But look at the radio dates: PIIALS on Janusry 19 and Telephone on January 26. I hope this clears it up for you? Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:39, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
If that's true then get from Video Phone to Run the World by clicking the Next single option in their info boxes and see how inconsistent that is right now.
I think I got it this time. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:40, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Interesting fact

Working on them articles...

So I recently started working on previous article relating to Beyoncé, since making any article that needed to be made from 4. I would really love some help on articles such as '03 Bonnie & Clyde, which is very close to GA, and The Closer I Get to You, which i just began construction on today. If anyone has the free time and would like to stop by one of these articles and help, that would be great! Would love to get all the past articles to GA-status before creating new ones and working on those :] Theuhohreo (talk) 23:09, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

4 Intimate Nights With Beyoncé

I have began a page to construct "4 Intimate Nights With Beyoncé" here. The page will not be made until the setlist is officially revealed, but I would love insight and additional references from more users. I am using I Am... "I Was Here" Single status.

I know the song isn't an official single but I couldn't help but wonder if it should be considered a promotional single considering that it was used to promote the FIFA Women's World Cup Final. I don't know if this changes anything I just wanted it to be known. I wasn't sure if it was actually used promotionally or if it was only a track included on the album. RatiziAngeloucontribs 17:07, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Using it for the promotion of FIFA Women's World Cup Final obviously does not make it a promotional single. It did not receive any kind of release. To tell you frankly, I do not even consider "Party" to be a single since it has been sent to radio only. Moreover, Beyonce's team always make press releases but there has been none regarding "Party". Jivesh Talk2Me 18:15, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I didn't hear anything on it. Beyoncé's team will usually give us cover art even when there is no physical release such as with Ego and Diva. They haven't mentioned anything. I guess we'll have to wait for the video and see if any word comes out about it then. For Halo and Diva, we received videos before anything else. I'm just not sure. RatiziAngeloucontribs 16:43, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, exactly!!! All these things further confirm that "Party" is not a single. Jivesh Talk2Me 17:20, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

The Rumor-Mill

Just a head up to everyone, the new main rumor circulating is that "Party" and "Countdown" will be dually released. "Party" for Urban radio, and "Countdown" for Mainstream radio. "Party" is being solicited to Urban Radio for airplay where it received 32 adds from radios today, 30 of which were Urban. And according to multiple twitter reports, music videos for both songs where already shot, as were pre-taped performances, both expected to be released and premiere by the end of this month leading into October. One performance is expected to be October 8 during the Michael Jackson tribute, and the other is definitely a performance of "Countdown" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon expected to premiere Sept 23/24/25. Who loves likes the Destiny's Child?

My greetings to all participants in this Wiki-project which is very dear to me. As you see here, King B is not very happy. Lol. I am just trying to be a bit funny. Okay. Let's get serious now. Before anyone drops by telling me Wikipedia is not a forum (lol), let me make it clear that i am posting here because i have some suggestions to make so that i can make things move even more here. I am not expecting significant help but anything would do. I am planning to start taking care of all the song articles (one at a time of course) by the Destiny's Child in December 2011 as their articles also form part of the Wiki-project. So who is ready to jump on board?. I do not need/expect considerable assistance... If only someone could help me finding some good interviews Giselle, Michelle and Kelendria gave and some sources for their live performances, it would be simply great. I am not in a hurry because i am having exams this month as well as the next month. So think well and reply my friends. It does not matter if you are all busy. Love on Top

Shouldn't it be grouped in with her other promotional singles? I mean it was pretty much a full single in Australia and it has a single cover like her other promotional singles but none of her others in the "songs" category have. RatiziAngeloucontribs 04:14, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

It is now a promotional single but it is still quite confusing. First let me clear your doubts. Any radio release except US =/= Single. Secondly, whoever reported the cover took care not to write single cover. Now why did Beyonce premiere the video there. She herself told it was a gift to her Australian fan s to have showed so much love to the song (while other countries kind of forgot it.) ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 04:24, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Superfluous Song Articles?

I hate to rain on the article parade but I feel that a lot of articles are created for Knowles' songs that lack any real sort of notability. Not that these articles aren't well written but they do all seem to be copies of each other as most quote the same articles where the album was discussed in full. The songs are typically never discussed on their own in these sources. Maybe this is an argument for the song project but it looks like a lot of these articles are justified by the use of odd charts that any song can chart on such as ringtone charts and ones based on downloads but seem very conditional like the South Korea Gaon International Chart. There should probably be a discussion about with charts are actually notable. 70.112.0.95 (talk) 04:05, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

If you don't mention article names it is impossible to tell you why the articles exist. Notability is establisher by the WP:N criteria and the WP:NSONGS subcriteria. If a chart or site is not listed at WP:BADCHARTS, the chart is OK. Well-written articles is not a requirement for deletion too. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 04:18, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
@ the IP, I think you are under some serious misconception. First of all, all the Beyonce song articles pass WP:GNG before passing the WP:NSONGS criteria. So, I am sorry to say that you came to the wrong wiki-project. Anyway, if you want to stretch this discussion, I will be the happiest one to respond to each of your concerns. You can begin by listing the articles you think "lack any real sort of notability". Jivesh1205 (Talk) 05:21, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
All I'm saying is that songs like "I Care", "Rather Die Young" and "Start Over" don't have any real business having their own full articles among a few others. They haven't had any sort of notable coverage or live performances outside of the set list of her own personal shows. The only part of WP they seem to have covered is charting but like I said before, these ringtone charts can't honestly be notable enough to justify a full article, can they? And the South Korea Gaon International Chart only really show the songs charting after the albums release for no particular reason other than the album being out. I don't think it's a good enough chart to justify these articles. 70.112.0.95 (talk) 21:12, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
If you consider that the Korean chart is not notable for Wikipedia you shoud take it to the talk page of WP:CHARTS and fill a case or seach for consensus to list the Gaon Chart at WP:BADCHARTS. While the record charts are not listed there, the chart still being notable. On the other hand, "charting" is not a requeriment for an article to stand as an article (See D.S. (song)). Start Over, I Care (Beyoncé Knowles song) and Rather Die Young are notables enough to have their own article as they fill the WP:GNG. That's why they exist. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 21:52, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

We can not select charts, all are notable if not was in WP: BADCHARTS. What should be considered not charts but the spelling, and in all the pages mentioned by you is remarkable. Silencio faz bem (talk) 22:55, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

@ the IP, I am telling you again. You have come to the wrong wiki-project. If you have anything against Beyonce, create a hate blog as Wikipedia is not one. All her articles are notable enough before passing the WP:SONGS. And frankly, using "I Care" as an example is a big joke. So... Au revoir très cher. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 05:12, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I somewhat agree with the anon. While songs may technically be notable (appearing on one chart), most people who don't have 4 won't have heard of these songs. There are countless album tracks which have charted; imagine if we created an article for each of those. Lemme give some examples. —Andrewstalk 05:32, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Well, Andrew I think they are all notable enough. I can prove my point for each of them if you want. And if I was really creating an article for each of them, I would have done one for "Lay Up Under Me" ... but I did not because it does not pass notability. Nevertheless, it reached number one in Korea and has sold 450,000+ copies. All this to only tell you that I work according to WP:GNG an not WP:SONGS. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 05:37, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I kinda agree with this anon. I think all of these articles should pass both WP:SONGS and WP:GNG before anything else. And these charts might need to get on that list of bad charts. And why exactly does "I Care" sound like a joke suggestion? I can't really see why the song matters at all myself. RatiziAngeloucontribs 01:43, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
If all of you believe that these articles are obscure and kinda pathetic, here is the solution. Let the community decide if the articles are notables or not. If many people don't have 4 on their homes is not a justification for merging or redirect. Stop wasting our time with this long, redundant and contradictory discussion. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 01:48, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
Ratizi, I have began to think you have something against me. You are always contradicting me. Have you read "I Care"? 90% of Wikipedia song articles do not have all that information about production. Anyway, you want it to be deleted? Go ahead my dear. And let's see what happens. Anyway, don't think I am using WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS as an excuse, but care to venture in other wiki-projects to see what are examples of failing the WP:GNG criteria. Here, the song articles pass both criteria you mentioned. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 04:40, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Destiny's Child?

Was simply wondering if this project helps out Destiny's Child articles. It's just that I looked at List of awards received by Destiny's Child and it is a complete mess. I am relatively new to Wikipedia and was wondering if any of the more experienced editors could help clean it up as it upsets me that such a great group that includeded the one and only Beyoncé has a page related that is a complete mess. So basically my question is will some people help clean it up if they know how to and also does this project do Destiny's Child related articles or is strictly Beyoncé only? --Lolcakes25 (talk) 01:47, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Covers

I have a question. Should Beyoncé's live covers of other artists' songs be part of the Wikiproject and should they be included in the {{Template: Beyoncé Knowles singles}}? I added a section about Beyoncé's cover of "I Will Always Love You" in the article and later added the song in the Template. Since no one reverted my edit I suppose that is not wrong. There are also sections about Beyoncé's covers of "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)", "A Change Is Gonna Come", "I Wanna Be Where You Are" etc. If they are part of the WikiProject I will work to make them GAs one day but if they are not I won't bother editing them. I need opinion about this from other editors. My love is love (talk) 19:16, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

4 FAC

Hello,

I thought I'd drop a note in here regarding the featured article candidacy of 4. The article was archived on October 27 with 2 supports and 1 neutral decision on whether to promote, leading to no consensus. As it was quite close to being promoted (and it went through so much work), I intend to nominate it again in the near future, once some of the comments have been addressed. The main issue was the quality of the prose; parts of the article often had grammatical errors and redundant words that I was awful at finding. Thus, I was wondering if any members of WP:BEY had the time to look over the article it would greatly appreciated! Thanks! —JennKR | 00:16, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Track lists?

I noticed all of the articles for Beyoncé's albums don't include all versions of track lists with B'Day and IASF being the messiest. Check on It wasn't standard with the American release so why is it included without mention to it being an Int. bonus track? Or all the version of IASF that included remixes and different track order? The track lists really need to be looked at again. 204.57.81.11 (talk) 17:55, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Beyoncé/Archive 1/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Beyoncé.

We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:

  • The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
  • The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
  • The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).

We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Beyoncé, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:27, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Homecoming

I've created a stub for Homecoming at Homecoming (2019 film). ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:40, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

A new newsletter directory is out!

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Beyoncé tour articles & access

Currently, the Beyoncé tour articles only partially meet the WP:ACCESSIBILITY guideline. Specifically, some tables do not include a caption, scope of headers ( ! scope="col" | and ! scope="row" | ), and other concerns as outlined in MOS:DTAB and MOS:DTT. The latter also advises against including column headers in the middle of the table (such as those spanning several columns).

Propose to update tour articles as follows. If no one objects, I'll go ahead and make these changes. —Ojorojo (talk) 14:21, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

All the tour articles are now updated, except for I Am... World Tour and The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. These tours include some one- or two-city concerts in different continents; using separate tables for these would produce too many or overly complicated tables. Propose to keep the current one-table format that these two use, but move the continents to a column as follows:

New article: Blue Ivy

An article for Blue Ivy is live. Improvements welcome. --Kbabej (talk) 14:38, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.
