Worthless article
[edit]It doesn't make much sense make a list of which pages cannot be created as it would be endless, this seems mostly for comedic purposes
An Endless Sporadic
[edit]Why exactly is this page protected? I attempted to move the existing page 'an endless sporadic (band)' to the more accurate page of "An Endless Sporadic", only to have it tell me the page was protected from creation. I looked, and the page is in fact on here, but why is a band's page protected from creation? I feel as if the current article is structured well-enough to meet Wiki standards. I have no idea what file talk pages are protected from recreation! Can someone unprotect them? Were not going to make test edits
[edit]I was wondering if you can unprotect some file talk pages so I can discuss about them. I can't even edit them. --99.56.25.105 (talk) 23:54, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

What about Alex Day? It is protected, and it is a deleted page. Nominalthesecond (talk) 20:06, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I hae put a template at the top of this section to request an edit to the protected page Special:ProtectedTitles. I am requesting an admin to please add Alex Day to the list on Special:ProtectedTitles. Nominalthesecond (talk) 20:46, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- Admins can't edit that page (it's generated automatically by MediaWiki), so there's not much point in this request. Besides, the page Alex Day exists (it is a redirect), so it is correct that it does not appear on the list. Ucucha (talk) 23:02, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Miva Mechant
[edit]Can not create article Miva Mechant as Title is protected. Why? Fix? :- ) DCS 06:51, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Everis
[edit]I was creating my second article in Wikipedia and I got a message that the page is protected from being created. It looks like it was deleted almost 4 years ago in 2009 (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Everis) as a "PR Piece." The article currently exists in Spanish and Portuguese and there are many references since 2009. Could you please un-protect the page from creation so that I can post?--StevenAlpha212 (talk) 18:35, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- That is called Salting. The normal process to get a page unsalted is to first go to the talk page of the admin who originally did the salting, and see if you can present information to have them change their mind. If that does not work, you can start a discussion among the larger community at Deletion Review to request that the salting be lifted. - TexasAndroid (talk) 19:15, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Incorrect?
[edit]Why are there items on the list that exist, such as File:Edit-this-page-large.png, File:.jpg, File:Transparent.gif, File:Ashley, and so on? Jc86035 (talk) 11:59, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- They exist on Commons and are protected so a version can't be uploaded here to override the Commons version. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:46, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Protected title entry actually exists.
[edit]File:Maome.jpg is in Special:ProtectedTitles, but it exists (has a blue link), that seems contradictory...Naraht (talk) 14:59, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Naraht: This file exists in the shared repository on commons: commons:File:Maome.jpg, that is why the link is blue. Additionally there was something a bit buggy in the log, that has been reset. — xaosflux Talk 18:03, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: So you have a commons file with the same name that can't be eclipsed by a en File, Still seems wierd, but a side effect of the fact that commons files don't have to be dealt with as it they were on a separate wiki.Naraht (talk) 15:26, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Naraht: There are 2 parts to this, one is the 'local description' that has been repeatedly deleted due to only being vandalism. As the commons: description is already in English we don't really have much use for a seperate enwiki description - that is what the
Create=Require administrator access
protection is preventing. Aside from that, if a file exists on commons: a new version can not be uploaded locally (this is for all such files), expect by administrators using the(reupload-shared)
part of the admin tool-set. New versions of the file can normally be uploaded at commons:, unless they also have protection in place. — xaosflux Talk 15:38, 5 June 2016 (UTC)- @Xaosflux: Thanx. Doesn't seem to be the only one like that (File:Edit-this-page-large.png for example). Don't remember how I found this situation in the first place. I'm good. :)Naraht (talk) 17:43, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Naraht: maybe you were looking at this list? — xaosflux Talk 18:41, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: when I found the additional ones like Edit this page large, yes. When I found Maome.jpg, I have no idea.Naraht (talk) 18:43, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

File:Goatse.jpg
[edit]This is on the protected list, but has not been removed.
Can someone please delete it? I clicked through out of curiosity and nearly puked all over my keyboard.
Thanks. Webbbbbbber (talk) 07:15, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
Salting an article
[edit]Is this the right place for salting an article, as advised at Wikipedia:Protection_policy#Creation_protection? How does one do that? I would like to add XICKO (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch. which has been marked for speedy deletion twice. ◅ Sebastian 21:48, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Expiry and indefinite
[edit]I think there should be filters for soon-expired protections and indefinite protections. Thingofme (talk) 09:42, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
