Can we include Independence Day of the Maldives in this day, since on this day, the capital city of Maldives would appear on the main page as the featured picture of the day. --Oblivious 00:35, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Good suggestion. I see that you've done it yourself already. :-) -- PFHLai 13:35, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Old entries
[edit]Most of the entries are old: See 2005 Maharashtra floods: Mumbai received an unprecedented 944 mm of rain in a single day. Killed hundreds. =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:14, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
How about : "Cessation of combat activities after the Kargil War; celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas in India" ? While it is on a controversial topic, Kargil War is an extremely well written article, and has no POV disputes whatsoever. Abeer.ag (talk) 18:17, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
2010
[edit]- I suggest including the 1936 unveiling of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. Edward VIII of the United Kingdom and Edward VIII abdication crisis are both FA and Canadian National Vimy Memorial is GA. 2 FAs and a GA for a single event is pretty good. --Labattblueboy (talk) 16:35, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Parsifal
[edit]- Copied from WP:ERRORS
It is correct, but pointless to write that Bayreuth is in present day Germany (Parsifal article). Bayreuth has been in Germany ever since unification in 1871, thus, it was also Germany when Parsifal was first performed. Jon kare (talk) 12:34, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. The current wording may be technically correct but it is misleading as it implies that Bayreuth was not a part of Germany in 1882. Greenshed (talk) 21:15, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Technically speaking, "present-day Germany" didn't exist until the 1990 reunification of East Germany and West Germany. In 1871, Bayreuth was in the Kingdom of Bavaria, part of the German Empire. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 21:56, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Then perhaps "present-day Germany" should be changed to "[[Kingdom of Bavaria|Bavaria]], [[German Empire|Germany]]". --174.89.158.237 (talk) 07:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
