Wikipedia:Facto Post mailing list → User:Charles Matthews/Facto Post/Mailing list – Either that, or move User:Charles Matthews/Facto Post to Wikipedia:Facto Post (over redirect) and the list to Wikipedia:Facto Post/Mailing list. Whichever way is chosen, group these pages together, one as a subpage of the other. I didn't just manually move it, since I'm not sure if the bot does the list would choke if the list page were moved and replaced with a redir to the current location (especially given that someone might later delete the redir as an unnecessary cross-namespace redir). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:55, 15 November 2017 (UTC) Relisted. - @Charles Matthews: thoughts? Jenks24 (talk) 03:14, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Is this according to any guideline or principle I should know about? User:Charles Matthews/Facto Post is in my user space because I'm the editor, it is simply a "reference file" of past copies of the mass message, and writing it is part of what I do as Wikimedian in Residence at ContentMine. Charles Matthews (talk) 05:43, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- It might be easier to find using Wikipedia search if it is in the Wikipedia namespace. I don't know for sure, but it could be a consideration. Currently, when I search for Facto Post (using "Everything" for the search), neither WP:Facto Post mailing list nor User:Charles Matthews/Facto Post appear in the results. - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 06:02, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
When I search using "Everything", and "Facto Post" as exact phrase, Wikipedia:Facto Post mailing list is a hit. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:00, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Right - I did not use exact phrase because most people do not do so when they search for a term. However, you're addressing it, and the most important thing is that the newsletter is excellent and very helpful. :O) - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 23:16, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
So now WP:FACTO redirects to Wikipedia:Facto Post mailing list: which has a "back numbers" link. I'll think some more about the landing page for that. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:08, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- I suggest changing "back numbers" to "back numbers/back issues" to cover the British (back numbers) and American (back issues) terms. Most Yanks will think "back numbers" refers to some totally unrelated techy topic. You have to break things down for us. ;o) - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 23:23, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- @SMcCandlish:--Any comments on the developments?Winged Blades Godric 12:06, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
- I don't have a strong feeling either way; it's just not sensible to have the subpage of something be in a different namespace. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 12:28, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

How to subscribe + make easier to find in Wikipedia search
[edit]Facto post is a pithy, nicely curated, and very helpful newsletter. Two suggestions:
1) I eventually figured out how to subscribe, but it took awhile. I suggest adding a paragraph to the footer of each newsletter that begins with How to subscribe: so interested folks can quickly discover the subscription process.
2) This might be related to the topic above (I don't know enough about the suggested move), but either way, if you can figure out a way to make the newsletter more 'findable' via a Wikipedia search, I bet it will help editors interested in the newsletter to find the info they need faster (and they won't give up). Also, if there could be an easy-to-locate link or such for past issues that would be splendid. Thanks! - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) 00:02, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'll think about these things, for the December newsletter. Charles Matthews (talk) 05:45, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Find
[edit]I didn't know about this! You should advertise it more, and make it easier to find. If I had known about it earlier, I would have subscribed long ago. Thanks! Benjamin (talk) 23:09, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
