- Choose a partner and topic. Submit these by editing the table on the coursepage.
- You will create new article or expand an existing short article. Some ways to find existing short articles:
- Go through related articles and make a list of topic ideas make a list of related articles that already exist.
- Start the online student orientation. During this training, you will create an account, make edits in a sandbox, and learn the basic rules of Wikipedia.
- Look through these categories and their subcategories: Category:Environment stubs, Category:Start-Class Environment articles.

Submit outline/starter article Submit by email the names of at least two experts/professionals on the topic of your article.
- Continue research in preparation for expanding your article.
Work with Online Ambassador mentor (TBD) to polish your short starter article.

- Be prepared to discuss your topic ideas in class. You will have an opportunity to discuss your topics with other classmates and pair up with a project partner. Bring some potential sources to class.
- Begin working on your article in your user sandbox or user sub page.

- Demo: Moving article from sandbox into main space.
- Uploading images onto Wikipedia articles and introduction to free licenses (see handouts below).

- On your article's talk page, suggest two experts in the field (not necessarily Wikipedia users) who you believe would be well equipped to review your article, with a link to their homepage and/or their e-mail address.
