Esperanza

Hi. I am requesting your opinions about Esperanza's Calendar and Birthday Program on Wikipedia:Esperanza/Overhaul/Calendar. Just recently, Esperanza has been attacked by several MfD's, and the community is carrying out an overhaul to fix the problems we have. During our discussions, we have brought up the possibility of transfering the entire calendar here to the BDC. I would appreciate it if you could express your opinions on the link above.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 01:49, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza has been renominated for deletion and as it stands, it looks like it will be deleted. You may wish to begin collating all their birthdays and Meta's list into your own one - it would help you to centralise it all anyway. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 00:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

If Esperanza is deleted, I would be happy to set up a similar system here (or move the pages from Esperanza). I designed and created the Wikipedia:Esperanza/Calendar system, and would be more than happy to transfer it over here. I jsut hope that the calender would not be deleted before I could transfer it (so we would not lose anyone's information). – Heaven's Wrath   Talk  18:48, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
You may as well move them and just use them as the basis for HBC's own calendar - add Meta's list and you're done! Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 19:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
I was thinking that I might move them to Wikipedia:Calendar, that way the list would feel more open to all Wikipedians. – Heaven's Wrath   Talk  20:09, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good, but you'll have to add more than just birthdays then. Anniversaries of important wikievents and suchlike. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 20:45, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
If the calendar is deleted after the Esperanza MfD, you can send it to Deletion Review. --Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 22:02, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
If it comes to that, I will Ed. And Dev, I already created some code to use for holidays and some of the Wikipedia holidays are already included, so that shouldn't be a problem. – Heaven's Wrath   Talk  17:06, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
I was able to save some pictures from Esperanza. The BDC might be interested in Image:Esperanza.Coffee.gif, Image:Esperanza.Party.gif, and Image:Esperanza.Birthday.gif--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 17:47, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

oh no..

Please tell me this is a joke... -- Ned Scott 22:00, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

It's a joke. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 22:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Joke or no joke, this is pathetic. I'm going to submit this project for deletion in the next week or two. Lunokhod 23:04, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Pathetic? Enjoying WikiProject Moon, Lunokhod? +Hexagon1 (t) 05:43, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

bad service :P

It kinds of defeats the purpose of making people feel good when you get only templated greetings from people that don't know you and who don't even take time to read the userpage (say, to know who are they greeting) and thus not noticing where to leave messages. -- Drini 00:43, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Calendar and status

Two things, firstly - currently, days with holidays have to be manually marked on the month pages, which is inefficient and there are be heaps of editors who won't bother with it. I say eliminate this bold-ness in month pages (or automate it). Second of all, why is the status column in the membership bar being cluttered with all these user descriptions? They're charming, but if they were required there'd be a column for them, which there isn't. The status column should be restricted to noting different rights, for users like bureaucrats, stewards or admins; noting special user positions in relation to the project (eg. leader); or noting current statuses like wikibreak and such, as was the original intention. Statuses like "Very happy to be here, molto felice di essere qui!! ^_^ ," (sic) are simply turning an important user reference into an MSN buddy-list. +Hexagon1 (t) 05:51, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Cross reference

Have you thought about cross referencing this with Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians in order of arrival? --evrik (talk) 18:06, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

My Birthday

My birthday is on January 15. I am having trouble adding it.Pendo4 is here...Look around... 02:35, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Old calendars

Hi all. I noticed that the April calendar was a year behind (2006), so I created Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar/April/2007 and fixed it to reflect 2007. Just an FYI, and I'm not sure what you should do with it. I don't know how you have the coding set up and all. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 14:14, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Birthdates

I was looking through the List Of Wikimedians By Birthday and noticed I wasnt on the list. Are these birthdates based on First edit, real life birthdays, or joining days for a Wikimedia sister project? Anyways, Id like to know because My name isn't on the list and I can't edit it. Help plz? Scrumshus

Calender problem...

The Calender is a table - which is quite complicated for me to understand - but the number 12 on "Friday 12" is in the wrong place. we are Saturday May 12 2007 and not Friday as the calender says,

Booksworm Talk to me! 15:05, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I've just fixed May for this month by moving Sunday to the end column. I will, over the next week, be fixing all these calendars so they don't necessarily have Monday, Tuesday, etc. there, to make it easier. Many thanks, Extranet talk 03:06, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

inactive?

I just signed on as a contributer, because I simply love the idea of this. But the calendar as I see it on the adjoining page doesn't even have all the months of the year filled out. What's the deal, is this project functionally inactive? VanTucky (talk) 05:42, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, the calender is wrong.. the 2nd is Thursday, right? JacќяМ ¿Qué? 07:40, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Love the idea but

Hey!

I love this idea, but the months are not all complete and consistant. It would be nice if these were sorted out and maybe a message should be sent to everyone about this idea so that they can sign up if they want.

I would love to join your group.

Second. We need to decide on a format - compare Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar/January to Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar/March. The first format is useful for quick navigation here; the second could be used for users wanting to have more info on a given month (linked from month name on a smaller template).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:45, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
When I first saw this project, there were only a handful of months available on the calendar page. I started adding months in the small format just so I could add my first edit day. I think that in order to make both formats available, we would need to automate generating the big format from the individual date pages. Otherwise, if we have both formats on separate pages, I think the calendars would diverge. With two separate formats, I would only add myself to one calendar, and not the other. Lisatwo (talk) 17:03, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Indeed. I think the template in a template design would be best: we edit individual days, they are displayed as templates in months, those in a year. On another note, we need to address the problem of months with varying number of days... --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:44, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

How do I add my b-day?

I'm quite confused--how do I add my birthday? My birthday month (April) is not listed at the calendar page. Thanks, Bardofcornish (talk) 00:08, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

It appears the BC is being converted to a better format, but the work is slow and some months are now in hiatus. The old version of April is at Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar/April, it should be updated to 'small and big' format, with small included at Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar, and individual days populated. Compare with Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar/March and Wikipedia:Birthday Committee/Calendar/Marchbig. The big versions should in turn be updated to use individual days as templates, so there is no need to update anything but individual day template. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:59, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm under the impression that everything was being moved to the small format. I just finished updating March, and I'll try to update April next (whenever I have time). Lisatwo (talk) 16:41, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
