WikiProject American Old West

[edit]

Could someone add WP:AOW to the list? 72.74.207.20 (talk) 05:39, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Added. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 09:19, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rational Skepticism

[edit]

I thought I could add Rational Skepticism to the list but I guess I don't know what I'm doing. Could someone please fix? Thank you Sgerbic (talk) 19:13, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have added it correctly. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 21:19, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Royalty

[edit]

This may be too technical for me, but I want to get WikiProject Royalty and Nobility subscribed to this list. The only thing is: it's not its own project, but a taskforce. We don't have any banners of our own, we simply use |royalty=yes strings on Template:WikiProject Biography to tag articles, which adds them to Category:Royalty work group articles. Hopefully Hell knowz what he's doing (haha)... Nightw 23:13, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, added. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 07:21, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Breakfast

I tried to add alerts to wp: Breakfast, but I don't know how to do it. Thanks for any help you can offer. XOttawahitech (talk) 14:26, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Skepticism

[edit]

Greetings,

Could it be arranged for the AFD to show up on the main Article alerts page for WikiProject Skepticism, instead of separately? Thanks.

CFD for WP:PHILO

Could you please add CFD to Article alerts for WikiProject Philosophy? Thank you. Be well, GB

Wikipedia:WikiProject Role-playing games

[edit]

I was kind of surprised to see that there was no Article alerts page for Wikipedia:WikiProject Role-playing games. Would anyone be able to start one please? Thanks! BOZ (talk) 20:39, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Added it. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 22:29, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question

[edit]

Just wondered what the status is regarding PUF and DYK workflows. The former suffers from very low participation, and the workflow is identical to FFD, I think people both at PUF and WikiProjects would appreciate a notification (there's a general annoyance at the seemingly esoteric copyright discussion venues on enwp and lack of notification). DYK would also be nice to know - it's subpage based, so shouldn't be too difficult? :) Acather96 (click here to contact me) 12:33, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Parapsychology

[edit]

Is it possible to set up Article Alerts for Wikipedia:WikiProject Parapsychology and Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion/Left Hand Path work group? I went to put the AA pages for WikiProjects I'm in into my watchlist but didn't find them for those two. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 12:14, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeraphine Gryphon: For Parapsychology, it should be simply a matter of adding
{{ArticleAlertSubscription
 |project = WikiProject Parapsychology
}}
to the section Wikipedia:Article alerts/Subscription list#P. For Left Hand Path work group, I think that a template like
{{ArticleAlertSubscription
 |project = WikiProject Religion/Left Hand Path work group
 |talkcategory = Left Hand Path work group articles
}}
added to the section Wikipedia:Article alerts/Subscription list#R should do it. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:40, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, I'm here as a representative of the Percy Jackson Task Force, which recently changed its name to "Rick Riordan Task Force". This involved quite a lot of moving pages, and I'm not 100% sure that its subscription to article alerts is still working because of this new redlink. The link itself may just be a case of another member cleaning up the project page and accidentally breaking a link, but I really don't know.

To be on the safe side, I figure the project should probably resubscribe to alerts, but don't really know how to do this, as it's still using its parent project's banner (located here).

Thanks very much for your help. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 01:15, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Project just got its first new alert. Thanks once again. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 01:15, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing WikiProject Canoeing and Kayaking

[edit]

Hi, I set up Article Alerts for Kayaking a long time ago. The project re-named to Canoeing and Kayaking and now the Article Alerts no longer work. I'm not entirely sure what needs adding/removing/changing here or on the project page (WP:KAYAK) and I don't want to fiddle and break things more. I would appreciate if someone could have a look and make it work again! Many thanks, Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 10:20, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How do old subscriptions get picked up?

[edit]

I revived Wikipedia:WikiProject Led Zeppelin yesterday (I have one GA review queued with more to follow; I would have just stuck them on a userpage but this project already existed, so I thought "what the heck"). I expected the bot to update Wikipedia:WikiProject Led Zeppelin/Article alerts on its run through this morning - but it didn't. What have I done wrong? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:09, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it's the spaces around the equals. No other entry in the L section uses them, so I've removed. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:09, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't look like it - the bot skipped over it again this morning's run. Headbomb, any ideas? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:41, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If by 'old' subscriptions you mean those from the previous User:ArticleAlertbot, those don't get picked up. If you simply mean that Wikipedia:WikiProject Led Zeppelin/Article alerts didn't get updated, my bet is that there simply isn't anything to update. Do you know of any pages that should have been reported that weren't? Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 11:41, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I recently nominated Physical Graffiti for GA and it is being reviewed now, so I would expect that to be picked up. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:47, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Let's @Hellknowz: on this one. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 11:51, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think it will update once something new happens. That is, the GA was already picked up, analyzed, and reported elsewhere. During the last run, nothing about it changed, so the report has nothing new to show (compared to what it would have had if the reports were never suspended). In other words, the bot thinks it already updated the page. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 15:19, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellknowz: Well, the GA review has been and gone, and another one (Talk:Led Zeppelin IV/GA1 - you may have worked out why I've re-activated the project!) has started up, but there has been no change to the alerts page. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:31, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The bot just didn't run for a few days, so it's up now and the report was delivered. Thanks for the patience. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 18:05, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant page sources

[edit]

@Headbomb: why change

{{ArticleAlertSubscription
 |project=WikiProject Baseball
 |talkcategory=WikiProject Baseball articles
 |delsort=WikiProject Deletion sorting/Baseball
}}

to

{{ArticleAlertSubscription
 |project=WikiProject Baseball
 |banner=WikiProject Baseball
 |talkcategory=WikiProject Baseball articles
 |delsort=WikiProject Deletion sorting/Baseball
}}

? This just makes the bot retrieve an extra list with no benefit. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 13:36, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Hellknowz: I'm looking at making the list useful/clear to people who aren't us. The goal is that it displays what the bot is looking for explicitly so that people can see what the bot looks for. If there's redundancies like {{WikiProject Baseball}} + Category:WikiProject Baseball articles though, those should be streamlined in favour of the banner though. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:40, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"people can see what the bot looks for" -- this is not correct (in this case). The bot is not looking for the {{WikiProject Baseball}} in the former case, only the talk category and delsort. If you want to prefer the |banner=, you should remove the |talkcategory=. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 13:45, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well like I said, redundancies should be eliminated. I was mostly focused on making the delsorts explicit, but you couldn't do that without putting |banner= most of the time, so I just did it brainlessly for now. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:53, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but that's only true when there are no other sources specified. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 14:06, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:All WikiProject Medicine articles

[edit]

Per this discussion I believe WikiProject Medicine should add

to pick up pages that use shortcut {{WPMED}} instead of {{WikiProject Medicine}} ? jnestorius(talk) 17:22, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The bot retrieves all the banner/template redirects, so any of the uses should be picked up. However, the bot only reports RMs for articles, not templates or other namespaces. I didn't realize at the time that RMs were allowed for other pages and that setting just stuck through. In fact, I thought TfD is the venue for renaming templates. I've never seen a template RM before. I will make the change to the bot, although I can't really update the live bot in the closest future, so it won't get reported I'm afraid. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 18:06, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sub request

[edit]

I'm not actually sure just which set of parameters I want to use, so rather than experimenting or spending who knows how long looking through everyone's subscriptions to see which matches... I'm attempting to revive Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Methodism work group. I'd like it to track as much as possible. Category:Methodism work group articles exists, as does {{WikiProject Christianity}} with parameters of |methodism-work-group=yes and |methodism-importance= I don't mind inserting it into the list myself, just not sure what options I want (or want to look at). Jerod Lycett (talk) 04:31, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I added it to the list, hopefully that should work. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 13:05, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Newspapers Alerts

[edit]

I would like to request a subscription for Wikipedia:WikiProject Newspapers. I want it to appear on the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Newspapers/Meta page, just above the Journalism alerts. I created a page, Wikipedia:WikiProject_Newspapers/Article_alerts, just in case that is needed.

User:G._Moore Talk 14:20, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I added it. The bot will overwrite the page, there shouldn't be any issues there (but you don't need to create it beforehand). —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 12:41, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please add Wikipedia: WikiProject Current events to the list of WikiProjects to receive article alerts.

I tried to set this up myself, but for some reason, it is showing up as a redlink, at Wikipedia:Article alerts/Subscription list. I appreciate any help. Please feel free to ping me when you reply. thanks!! --Sm8900 (talk) 15:02, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sm8900: You have to wait for the bot to run. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 16:00, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
ok, that makes sense. I appreciate your reply. thanks! --Sm8900 (talk) 16:01, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Our wikiproject uses no particular banner of its own but instead relies on using the banners of WikiProject India and WikiProject Trains. When using the India banner we have to specify a parameter {{WikiProject India|railways=yes|railways-importance=}} (railways-importance is optional). The railways=yes parameter adds articles to the Category:WikiProject Indian railways articles which is why I previously used this category based subscription. However, some pages don't have the railways parameter of the India Banner enabled and instead rely on the WikiProject Trains Banner that is {{WikiProject Trains|India=yes|India-importance=}}. Here the 'India' parameter identifies our scope and as per template documentation, adds articles to appropriate subcategory of Category:Indian railways articles by quality. That category has subcategories which have their own subcategories so I couldn't figure out how to get them subscribed for Article alerts. Is it possible to subscribe through a certain banner parameter? Maybe it would be better if the WikiProject trains template adds pages to the (You being a template editor can do that?). I would be really grateful if you guys could help out.

PS. When I subscribed through "talkcategory = WikiProject Indian railways articles", the next day we received alerts only for one Requested Move. The thing is that there are a few other pages like this merger proposal that did not appear. That page is under the which I had subscribed to but it still wasn't seen in the alerts. Was it a bug? I look forward to your reply and am, once again, sincerely grateful for your efforts. Thanks in advance, --Field Marshal Aryan (talk) 12:56, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it to subcategory subscription. Let's see if it works tomorrow. If not, I'll look into it some more. Perhaps there's an issue with merges, because it looks like it should have been reported. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 13:45, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellknowz:, thanks. Subcategory based subscription seems to work for now. Will adding category subscription of Category:WikiProject Indian railways articles additionally be needed now or will that be covered in the subcategory subscription? --Field Marshal Aryan (talk) 09:05, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It should be covered. I assumed Category:WikiProject Indian railways articles would have all articles, but Train 19 actually isn't, which is why it wasn't picked up. I can't really comment on why. I can only assume the banner isn't emitting the category under some circumstances? —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 09:19, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct. The WikiProject trains banner doesn't assign the category:Wikiproject Indian railways articles. It merely puts it in a subcategory of Category:Indian railways articles by importance. In that particular case, the talk page of train 19 didn't have the India WikiProject banner but had the trains WikiProject banner. I have put a request on the template talk page of the WikiProject trains banner to add articles to the WikiProject Indian railways articles.
