For The Moxy Show

The first citation is a bit of a weird request. I can already preview the one time where The Moxy Show is mentioned on page 211. What I actually want is its reference. After the sentence where The Moxy Show is mentioned, there is a superscript "3" that indicates the third footnote of the chapter, pointing to a reference. However, said reference is located in a section of "Chapter Notes" that I cannot preview. If I can look at the reference, I might be able to continue my research.

The second citation is one already used in the article above. However, the link does not contain the full text. In fact, the link is dead, and the archived link requires one to purchase the source to read it. I feel like this article could have information about the show's premise and production.

The third citation is even more elusive. There is very little information about this particular issue of Animation Magazine, and it doesn't allow readers to preview it. The only reason why I want this source is because I am having a very difficult time finding sources about The Moxy Show's third and final iteration, The Moxy & Flea Show, which only had one episode, and the preview text from the search results says "The Moxy and Flea Show debuts on the USA Networks."

Thanks, Lazman321 (talk) 01:15, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have added an additional source I would like to see the full text. The last sentence of the abstract on ProQuest says, "Just so you know, Flea was added to the show at the request of kids who thought Moxy should have a sidekick." I am curious if the article expands on this considering how little information there is about Flea. Lazman321 (talk) 20:34, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lazman321: I can't read the Google Search result for your request #3, Animation magazine. Please define what you need from it. Thank you – Doc TaxonTalk14:16, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Doc Taxon: So sorry, I do not know which article it's from other than the article might be about cable networks and is likely located on page 14. The quote I found you can see by searching on Google Books "the moxy and flea show" in quotes. To help with your search, the page does say the magazine was archived in the University of Michigan. Lazman321 (talk) 03:44, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lazman321:Yes Sent 1,2,4. 2 days Arhi twi (talk) 15:58, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lazman321, did you get those three articles? Is #3 ("TBD") the only one remaining? --Usernameunique (talk) 04:20, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I got those three articles. If you guys cannot find #3, it can be marked as resolved. Lazman321 (talk) 13:06, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lazman321, Google Books will frequently help out with information such as page and issue numbers. At the bottom of the Google Books page (in the classic view), click "Report an issue," then select "I have questions or feedback about books." Then ask which issue/article/page the language "the moxy and flea" is from. Let us know what they say. --Usernameunique (talk) 09:34, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lazman321, any luck with the above approach? --Usernameunique (talk) 21:15, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am so sorry that I've taken so long to respond. I've been busy with school, activities, family, etc. I have to admit that currently, I don't feel inclined to do what you have suggested. I understand if you feel irritated for me wasting your time, but at the present moment, I am marking the request as resolved. If I ever feel like it, I may do what you have suggested and request the article with a fuller citation here. Lazman321 (talk) 04:23, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, has someone access to "Ackermand, D., Riley, T. R., Finkenberger, B., & Schümann, T. (2003). Geology program South Sandwich Islands (Vindication Island). Berichte für Polarforschung."? For Vindication Island

Thanks, Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:02, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the correct title of the journal is "Berichte zur Polarforschung". Sandbh (talk) 12:04, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: To be exact, the proper title is "Berichte zur Polar- und Meeresforschung" as of 2000 (ISSN 1866-3192). I assume the source for your quotation is this, where the title is marked as "in press". However, in AWI's repository archive no such title is to be found, not in 2003 nor later, nor any similar title by the authors cited. Therefore it seems that this report may in fact have never been published. You may want to contact the Alfred-Wegener-Institut directly for confirmation. Susan Pevensie: would like to confirm source exists

[edit]
  • Barbara D. Wheatley, "The Lasting Legacy of C.S. Lewis" in Edward Cantor (ed.) Multidisciplinary Round Table on Twentieth Century Children's Literature

For Susan Pevensie, which contains an extensive quotation from Wheatly but no other bibliographic info other than the above. Would like the publication year, page number, maybe even the publisher name, so the article has a full citation, and people have an easier time verifying the source and info. I've tried to find this source myself to no avail, alas. Thanks, Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 03:54, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rotideypoc41352, this looks like a hoax to me: I can't find anything on Google, WorldCat, the Internet Archive, etc. resembling such a book, or indeed any evidence "Barbara D. Wheatley" exists. Note this was added in 2019 by an IP with no other contributions. Unless there's something I'm missing, I'd suggest just removing the quote. @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Regarding #2, I could be mistaken, but I think in its nearly 100 pages, the only mention of Huequi is on page 35: "Further south, at Buill in the Huequi Peninsula (42°15'S), a marine fauna consisting of well preserved Devonian trilobites and a coral has been reported from loose blocks by Biese (1953), Levi et al. (1966) and Fortey et al. Evening Standard article from 1965 (may need microfilm search)

[edit]

{{stale}} Hi, I'm looking for a copy or full transcript of a 1965 Evening Standard article which I believe is titled "IT'S THE GHOST OF LILLIE LANGTRY - AS QUEER THINGS HAPPEN IN HER OLD HOME". I am told the date of the article is April 2, 1965. One exact quote I've seen attributed several times to it is "Langtry's ghost appeared one day".

Article being improved: Lillie Langtry.

My email address is softlavenderwiki@gmail.com

Many thanks!

Softlavender (talk) 02:03, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Evening Standard is part of the Newspapers.com collection, but I was unable to find a piece like that in the 2 April 1965 paper. Searches for Langtry in that year did not turn up the relevant article. Maybe there was a special that day? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 04:01, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I had tried and failed on Newspapers.com as well, which is why I came here for other sources. Apparently there are other archives available for the Evening Standard, and apparently it is also viewable on microfilm in libraries such as the British Library, St. Pancras, London. Softlavender (talk) 04:10, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Something to consider is that everyone is simply repeating Hans Holzer's claim from The great British ghost hunt that there was such an article. fiveby(zero) 16:26, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We also have an editor saying they read it. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:33, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Our article seems to suggest that the Evening Standard printed as many as six editions per day, so I'm guessing this was from one of the other ones. ("In the days before commercial broadcasting ...a given edition could be your only source for a particular piece of information.") I'm not sure whether all the editions have been digitized yet, but if not, microfilm may be the only option. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 16:58, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Extraordinary Writ, should I note in the header of this thread that microfilm copy is desired? Softlavender (talk) 01:10, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Up to you—I don't think it makes too much of a difference. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:29, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We have two editors that 'claim' to have read it: AnthonyCamp, who is a professional researcher, author, and genealogist (but may have erred in his recent recollection of its contents), and Inspector Colombo, who is a disruptive and combative newbie determined to disprove experienced editors and who claims to have read the library microfilm and posted the article contents on a now-archived talkpage. I would like to get a bona fide copy of the article to prove or disprove what each of those editors says, so the wiki article can be corrected if necessary. Softlavender (talk) 01:06, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of things in passing—the Evening Standard regularly (mis)spelt Lillie as Lily (e.g.)—of which IIRC her grandaughter wrote in and complained of—which might alter your search. Also, there's this Times article. SN54129 13:10, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks SN; we're aware of the Times article; and the Evening Standard spelled Lillie's name right in the headline but wrong in the body copy of the article in question, as far as I can tell (if the newbie editor is to be believed). That's why the quote I suggested in my OP only includes her last name. Softlavender (talk) 05:15, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The book is a publised monograph about the Bojnard [ru] language, a Khorasani Turkic language from Iran. Perusing the googlebooks preview, I managed to find a reference for tale type "425", which is The Search for the Lost Husband. There are at least two tales of the sort, one ca. pp. 185-190 ("schlange" as husband), and another ca. 198/199ff ("Xojaxast" and "Mehrinigar"). I might need to see the summary first to better locate the pages.

@Jo-Jo Eumerus The page gives an error and we don't know anything about the resource (title, author, year, etc.) OhanaUnitedTalk page 20:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I was kinda hoping that someone could infer the correct URL, since Gale does not have useful redirects. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 07:33, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus Are you looking for "Freedom's Gardener: James F. Brown, Horticulture, and the Hudson Valley in Antebellum America". If yes, ping me and I'll email it. — Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 00:38, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, but from the title it seems like it is talking about the Hudson River not Mount Hudson, so you don't need to send it. {{resolved}} Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 07:44, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@OhanaUnited That won't work, the link timed out. Also, I think some of your links might be you-specific (if you are logged in or are using the IP of a subscribing institution). It's generally better to download and email unless you're sure the links are public.

Who’s Who entry of Goodson, Kenneth

[edit]
  • Any version of [Marquis] Who's Who that has "GOODSON, Kenneth" in it. I found a user-generated source with content taken from Marquis Who's Who, but no actual edition cited, and I'd like to verifiy some information from that entry.

For Draft:Kenneth E. Goodson... I know it's a long shot, but it seems as if Goodson would be in an edition of the book. (I tried all the versions I could find on archive.org, but none of them listed him). Could anyone find a book from the series that lists Ken?

Thanks, BhamBoi (talk) 06:10, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@BhamBoi: He has an entry in Who's Who in the World - 1995, 12th Edition (pub. 1994). It's short, and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#Marquis Who's Who applies. The portion most likely to be useful to you is:
Kenneth Eugene Goodson
Born: Lafayette, Ind., August 1, 1967
Awards: [this shouldn't be used directly, but could be a jumping off point for research]
Office of Naval Research grad. fellow Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1989-92, Burchard scholar, 1988; Foundation scholar Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1987; recipient Louis Sudler prize Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1989.
Family:
Son of Raymond Eugene and Susan Elizabeth Goodson.
If that satisfies your request, please mark this section {{resolved}}. If you want the whole entry, email me. --Worldbruce (talk) 19:48, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that has his place and date of birth which is all I couldn’t get from other sources, so great! Is the following citation for the info accurate? "Kenneth Eugene Goodson". Who's Who in America: 1995 (12th ed.). Marquis Who's Who. 1994. BhamBoi (talk) 04:44, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BhamBoi: Being a biographical dictionary, I would use cite encyclopedia, as: "Goodson, Kenneth Eugene". Who's Who in the World - 1995 (12th ed.). Marquis Who's Who. 1994. ISBN 978-0-8379-1113-7.. The only substantive difference is that it's Who's Who in the World. I don't know if he ever appeared in an edition of Who's Who in America. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:09, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sorry, I cited the wrong book there. Anyway;

as of now. Thanks for finding this source! (And it should be okay because it's self-provided info about their own birth details). BhamBoi (talk) 06:12, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Film Daily 'Pawnbroker' article / review (1965)

[edit]

For The Pawnbroker (film)

I'm looking for a mention of the film The Pawnbroker in The Film Daily journal. I think this includes a detailed cast listing beyond what is available in the film credits.

Google books has a partial preview, but I can't see the exact issue this is from. I've included an image of the preview here for reference: https://imgur.com/a/5FHkxN9

Below this should be the text "singer Tony Lawrence", but I can't see it from the limited preview.

All I know is that it was published in 1965, but I can't see anything else from Google Books, and no library near me has issues from this year.

Thanks, Jimmyjrg (talk) 06:20, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think I failed but browse here and see if anything helps?

Thanks @Jengod, it doesn't look like that has Film Daily. Jimmyjrg (talk) 00:44, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure you know this already @Jimmyjrg but try emailing the AFI archive, AMPAS library, and Paley library--one of them might be able to pull it for you. Good luck. jengod (talk) 00:51, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Jengod I'll email some of those places. Though, I'm afraid it will be too vague a request for undigitised work. Jimmyjrg (talk) 01:35, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ramphastidae — toucans, aracaris, toucanets from Oxford Academic

[edit]

Hey, could somebody with full access to Oxford Academic send me Ramphastidae — toucans, aracaris, toucanets in Toucans, Barbets and Honeyguides: Ramphastidae, Capitonidae and Indicatoridae? The level of access that TWL provides isn't enough to access this book chapter. I currently need this to verify some information in Toco toucan, and plan to use for several other toucan/toucanet/aracari articles afterwords. Thanks, AryKun (talk) 13:37, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

doi:10.1093/oso/9780198546665.003.0009
AryKun I can't help with that, but I have paid access to the full text of Cornell Birds of the World if that helps Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:59, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have access to BOW too, but the Plumage section is very poor in the Toco Toucan account. BOW omits a total length measurement, and our article (citing Short and Horne) has a broader range than the other sources I can currently access, so I just wanted to check that out before finishing up the Description section. AryKun (talk) 12:05, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@AryKun: That chapter is more than 100 pages long - a substantial chunk of the book - and more than can reasonably be shared without violating copyright. Can you narrow your request to a single genus (choices are Aulacorhynchus, Selenidera, Andigena, Baillonius, Pteroglossus, or Rampliastos)? The last contains seven toucans, including Toco toucan, and is a more reasonable 25 pages or so. --Worldbruce (talk) 07:41, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Worldbruce, if the whole chapter's too long, just the Ramphastos section would be enough. Thanks! AryKun (talk) 12:33, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Worldbruce, any updates on this? AryKun (talk) 17:15, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@AryKun: I don't have immediate access to the book. It may be possible to obtain it via inter-library loan, but there's a cost associated with that, so I'm not in a rush to do it while there's a decent chance someone else can get the material for you for free. --Worldbruce (talk) 05:08, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
AryKun, got it: email me for a PDF. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 20:15, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@AryKun: Yes Sent. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 08:42, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! From a quick skim through, looks very useful for the measurements missing in BOW. AryKun (talk) 08:52, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
