For Bible

Thanks, Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:17, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Jenhawk777: page 47 is from Ch 4 "New light on the Hebrew Bible" and reads:

‘Text-type’ is an important concept that refers to the version of a particular document or literary composition. Let us say that you are composing a report or essay; you work on it for a while, and save and upload it on to the ‘cloud’ in order to continue at a later time. A good practice is to save the document in successive iterations in order to minimize loss in the event of a crash or corruption of a particular file. Thus, you first save the file as ‘sampledocument.doc’ and having worked on it further save it as another file called ‘sampledocument2.doc’, and so on. If ‘sampledocument2.doc’ becomes corrupt, then you can return to ‘sampledocument.doc’, having lost only the incremental amount between the two. Moreover, you can revert to original formulations and calculations with this electronic paper trail. Each one of these files will share a common core, but will also be a slightly different version. If one were to ask which was ‘the original’ text, then the answer surely depends upon what we mean by the term. The initial commission of your thoughts to writing would be preserved in ‘sampledocument.doc’. However, if by ‘original’ you mean the copy that you sent off or submitted, then it would be the final or official version of the file.

In ancient times, ‘manuscripts’, as the word suggests, were written and copied out by hand. The production of literary works involved the compositional and copying stages, with the Qumran scrolls attesting to the latter. As we know from our own experience of copying, such a process is susceptible to expansions, contractions, and all manner of scribal errors. For instance, our eyes could skip from one line to another or from one phrase to another that is either identical or similar. We could misspell a word or mis-form a letter. All these human errors contribute to the creation of different text-types. Other changes are intentional revisions of a text for ideological and religious reasons or mechanical ones, such p. 48↵as the stereotype or consistent rendering of one word by another in the target language.

Yeah the books are “very short” so there’s not a lot of text per page. Lemme know if you need more tho, but this seems to have what you needed based on your response. There’s also the heading “Multiplicity of text-types” at the top, but that’s the page. P.S., in case it helps your citation doi:10.1093/actrade/9780198779520.003.0004 06:48, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

For species:Robertsella Chen & Shi

I'm hoping someone just has institutional access to E. Schweizerbart publications and just has to do a few clicks. If you're actually going to be photocopying, I think I just need a few pages starting on page 135 (just whatever is about Robertsella), but I'm hoping that someone can get the full article easily since it's just paywalled.

Thanks in advance! Umimmak (talk) 06:16, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Based on my experience, the fact that this is (a) the digital platform of a small German publisher, not one of the big aggregators, (b) it is a German journal and yet (c) not even any German library has subscribed to the backarchive in that database (EZB/ZDB) does not bode well for you chances of finding someone with institutional access. The printed version is widely available. You can give it some more time, of course, to see whether someone happens to have access nonetheless. — Pajz (talk) 13:23, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pajz: okay thanks for that, I’ll start work on locating a print copy but will keep this up in case someone eventually comes along with digital access since I’d prefer not to have anyone photocopy 85 pages. Umimmak (talk) 22:42, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Umimmak, sure. And if you need the "few pages starting on page 135 (just whatever is about Robertsella)", I'm happy to help, of course. — Pajz (talk) 22:53, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pajz: Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I'll let you know, but I'll first try to get a copy of the physical volume myself if it looks like people are going to photocopy regardless.
But if someone eventually has an easy way to get the full PDF at little effort to them I'll still appreciate that. Umimmak (talk) 00:57, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was able to locate a print copy, and I figure no need to hold my breath for someone to have access to the digital PDF.

The First Division 1809–1993, can anyone access this work via the British Library, London?

[edit]

{{stale}}

  • Wilson, P. (1993). The First Division 1809-1993: An Illustrated History (2nd ed.). Hereford, Germany: 1st Division. OCLC 29635235.

For:

According to the OCLC, the only copy is the British Library, London. Is anyone able to access this work, and if so, could they then provide any relevant information to establish the origins of the division? A RFC was held, but closed due to a lack of consensus. The information from that has now been copied to the 1st (UK) Div talkpage (with a link to that on the 1st Inf Div talk page). The debate focused on if the modern 1st Division is linked to a variety of similar named formations that stretch back to 1809, or if the modern division should be considered a separate entity. Editors are keen to know what the division themselves, per the publisher info on the book, have to say on the subject: in 1993, when it was published, did they consider themselves to be the same formation from 1809 or a different one with the same name (for example, the 1st Armoured Division founded in 1938 as the Mobile Division and renamed as the 1st Armoured Division in 1940)? When do they state they were formed? Do they provide a list of former commanding officers?

There does not appear to be a copy available online, or a snippet version to view on Google. I understand that this is a bit of a big ask and outside the usual specific page requests, but appreciate any assistance so that we can plan next steps on how to improve the cited articles. Agostini Journal Article

For Cueva de las Manos. Looking for information of Alberto Maria de Agostini's writings on Cueva de las Manos.

Thanks, Tyrone Madera (talk) 19:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tyrone Madera: Based on Google snippet searches, there may be a typo in the cited year. This volume [1931] OCLC 7896081 has hits for "de Agostini" and "Mi primera expedición al interior de la cordillera patagonica" in the referenced page range. There are no hits there, however, for "Cueva" or "de las Manos". --Worldbruce (talk) 08:05, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to know, although sad to hear. Are you able to do a similar review on the other requested Agostini works? Thanks, Tyrone Madera (talk) 16:00, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
