Welcome to WikiProject Overseas France. The aim of this project is to bring together editors working on articles related to the current Overseas France with an aim of improving and expanding all aspects of the colonies. This project was founded on 10 July 2015. It has two sister projects, WikiProject British Overseas Territories and WikiProject United States Territories.

Please note that this WikiProject should only cover all of the present overseas departments: former colonies do not count.

Below is the importance criteria for Wikiproject French Overseas Departments. Articles tagged with {{WikiProject French Overseas Departments}} should be assessed for the project. The importance of an article varies on the importance of itself to be tagged with a High, Mid or Low importance.

Need: A measure of a subject's importance, regardless of its quality
Top Subject is a must-have for a print encyclopedia.
High Subject is exceptionally important.
Mid Subject contributes a depth of knowledge.
Low Subject fills in important details.
NA Subject importance is not applicable.

Thoughts/Proposal:

Top All territories should be listed as top importance, as well as the French Overseas Departments and Territories article itself French Guiana, New Caledonia, Guadeloupe
High Larger settlements and places of interest in any territory, as well as notable battles or history-related articles Port Louis, Cayenne, Guiana Space Centre
Mid Smaller settlements and areas, including schools, military bases or dockyards. Canton of Petit-Bourg, Kourou, Roura
