[edit]

I would like assistance or guidance for the creation of this page. This WikiProject is a biography of a living person whose work as an actor and writer in film, television, and theater is of note. I am not this person. Please let me know what I can do to ensure approval for this page. Thank you. Brassmonk3y462 (talk) 06:25, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Brassmonk3y462. Your draft fails to provide references to significant coverage in independent, reliable sources that devote significant coverage to this person. When your best source is Your Premier Lifestyle Resource for Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties, then you are skating on thin ice. Local "lifestyle" gossip rags are not reliable sources and are of no value in establishing notability, as is required for a Wikipedia article. What is your connection with the subject of this draft? Your draft was rejected, meaning that it will not be considered further. This isn't the place to publish a blog. 331dot (talk) 08:03, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Digitalmart: Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a blogging site; we publish encyclopaedic articles, which this isn't. In any case, your draft has been rejected and won't therefore be considered further. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:03, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

08:57, 9 August 2023 review of submission by Dime Dimeski

[edit]

I don't know why my draft has been rejected again when i have literal photos of the book of the "First Macedonian-Kosovar brigade" that has Dimitrija "Dime" Nikodinoski's name and last name on the list of fighers that fought in WW2, there are multiple photos of multiple membership cards of the "Union of fighters" in Macedonia and Yugoslavia, that have Dimitrija "Dime" Nikodinoski's name and last name on them aswell as his identification number, there's even a diploma for heroism in WW2 that was given to Dimitrija "Dime" Nikodinoski that again, has his name and last name on it, and lastly there was a photo of a medal for heroism in WW2 given to Dimitrija "Dime" Nikodinoski . I can see that the people that rejected the draft didn't try to see what was written in the photos nor they tried to translate it, because the text in the photos was Macedonian and Serbian. I know there was a lack of effort because in their comments after the draft was rejected again, it said that the draft was rejected because there were unreliable sources, when there were literal photos of a book, membership cards, diploma, medal and other documents that prove he was a Macedonian fighter who fought in WW2. And l want to say i've seen a lot of English Wikipedia pages that don't have a lot of reliable sources and exist as Wikipedia pages but mine get's rejected quickly. Hopefully things sort out and my draft get's accepted. Dime Dimeski (talk) 08:57, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My article was declined several times Hello support,

Can someone help me with the article creation? I am a new writer on Wikipedia. I am obviously not good at writing articles. Meelay007 (talk) 09:37, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Meelay007 I've fixed the format of your request to provide a link to your draft. You have no sources in your draft; an article about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Writing a new article is the most difficult task to perform on Wikipedia, and we usually recommend that new users first gain experience and knowledge before attempting it, by editing existing articles in areas that interest them first, as well as using the new user tutorial. Are you associated with the school? 331dot (talk) 09:47, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am, Support. I was assiganed to write an article about our school. But I am not good at it. Meelay007 (talk) 10:24, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

10:02, 9 August 2023 review of submission by Cptcopy

[edit]

Hi all, I created my first page using the subject of the Spanish Typographer Pablo Martín as I could find many articles relating to him which I thought would help establish his notability. It has been rejected on the grounds of it 'not reading as an Encyclopedia entry' and under COI rules. I've made changes to the style that I hope will help, does anyone have any advice on any improvements I could still make or how I challenge the COI accusations? I really enjoyed creating the page, and spent loads of time on it so it's disappointing to be rejected - and I really think it is worthy of inclusion! Would it help if I removed some of the awards listings (I did go down a bit of a rabbit hole...) thanks for any advice. Cptcopy (talk) 10:02, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Cptcopy.
Firstly, do you have a conflict of interest with Pablo? If you do, you need to declare it via Wikipedia:DISCLOSE. If you don't have a CoI then you don't have to do anything.
Some of the language is still problematic and promotional. It reads a little bit like a promotional bio or profile for him, you could make it read more neutral and encyclopaedic. Stick to the facts only, try and avoid any superfluous language.
Most of the Recognition and Awards section is unsourced. I would recommend cutting it down to just the major awards.
The Teaching Posts and Notable Lectures isn't very suitable for an encyclopaedic article- Wikipedia is not for resumés. I would remove that entire section. Qcne (talk) 10:44, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for your suggestions, I have made changes and resubmitted. Cptcopy (talk) 12:26, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
He is globally renowned for .... Quickly establishing their reputation as... Who says? The source cited for the first of these (which does not actually say this) is published by a society of which he is a member, and is therefore not independent (the chances are the entry was written by him or his associates), and should be used only for confirming uncontroversial factual data like places and dates. The second is not even sourced.
No Wikipedia article should ever describe somebody as "renowned" unless it is directly quoting a solid independent source which says exactly that. Please see Peacock words.
I suspect that, like most first-timers, you have written your draft BACKWARDS. ColinFine (talk) 21:10, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

20:51, 9 August 2023 review of submission by Julie Ciardullo

[edit]

I appreciate the feedback on my draft article and was wondering if there was a minimum number of sources outside of the school website that I need to include as references. Thank you so much! Julie Ciardullo (talk) 20:51, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Forget the school website: it contributes nothing at all towards establishing that the school meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability, and hardly any information from it belongs in the article.
Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources.
There is no specific minimum number of independent sources, but reviewers will generally expect at least three. You should look for the references first of all, because if you cannot find them, you'll know that there is not point spending any more time on the draft. ColinFine (talk) 21:17, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Julie Ciardullo, it would be extremely unusual for a preschool to be notable. The only reasons that I can think of is if some historic event happened there, or the building is exceptional architecturally. What is required is significant, in depth coverage of the preschool in several reliable sources completely independent of the school. The school's own website is of no value in establishing notibility. Cullen328 (talk) 22:15, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

22:09, 9 August 2023 review of submission by TravisCataldo

Hello

In no way am I trying to break the rules or create a strictly promotional page here.

What can I do to alter this page so that it may be a resource for people to better understand what Lowbrow Studios is and why it is relevant in the animation world.

Thank you for understanding TravisCataldo (talk) 22:09, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @TravisCataldo.
Only organisations that meet the strict Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) criteria can have a Wikipedia article. Please remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is not a social media site like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn; so your assertation that you want the article to exist 'for people to better understand what Lowbrow Studios is and why it is relevant in the animation world' is inappropriate.
Wikipedia articles exist only to summarise what independent, reliable, third party sources say about a subject.
Hope that helps, Qcne (talk) 08:19, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

22:52, 9 August 2023 review of submission by Twin Bird

[edit]

Hey, I've written a stub about the "Cape Cod Tunnel," a hoax, but a very prominent one. The joke is that the canal is a choke point, so Cape Codders pretend there's a tunnel only residents can use. Admittedly, my "article" is a stub at best, but y'know, every man and woman was a child once. Twin Bird (talk) 22:52, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Twin Bird. You haven't yet submitted your draft article for review. Click the Submit draft for review! button to do this. Unfortunately in it's present state I don't think it would be accepted as you only have a single source. We like to see at the minimum three reliable, independent sources that discuss the article's subject in detail.
Perhaps the contents of your article would be better suited as a paragraph in an existing article? Such as List of hoaxes or Cape Cod Canal? Qcne (talk) 08:15, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But even to put a mention in another article would require at least one reliable published source for the existence of the hoax. The fact that somebody has published a bumper sticker purporting to be from the tunnel establishes nothing: anybody can create a bumper sticker. ColinFine (talk) 14:33, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
