02:30:05, 24 September 2020 review of draft by ThiagoWinters

[edit]

Hi,

I recently submitted an article for submission related to a Brazilian international school. I was about to add tags to it, to fasten my submission, but the error message "Please check the draft page title. It doesn't seem to be in draft namespace". I do not understand what is going on, and I believe, although I'm not sure, I'm doing everything right.

In "Enter draft page title", I typed the name of my draft page title, which is Pan American School of Bahia. In "Select WikiProjects to tag with", I tagged with "Schools" and "Brazil".

I do not know what I am doing wrong. How do I fix this and add tags to my submission?

Thank you. ThiagoWinters (talk) 02:30, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ThiagoWinters: You should be able to click the "Talk" tab at the upper left of the screen (Right next to "Draft"). From there, type the WikiProjects you want in the text box (i.e. {{WikiProject Schools}} and {{WikiProject Brazil}}). Then click the blue "Publish page" button at the bottom. [edit]

Hi,

I saw that my submission was declined because it does not have any secondary sources, and that is ok. This may be due to the fact that I mentioned the school college acceptances.

The thing is: We do not have any big official sourcing. We do have a single news report from alumni that went to Harvard. We also have alumni Linkedin.

We do not have any news for every single alumnus that went to top colleges. We may have for one, two, more, but definitely not for everyone.

But I believe we can't mention anyone's LinkedIn! So what do I do? Do I mention this one source? Do I remove the paragraph?

Thank you so much in advance!

Best,

ThiagoWinters (talk) 03:13, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

My translation of Bimbo España into English was declined, I received the following message:

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Dan arndt were: The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Please cite your sources using footnotes. For instructions on how to do this, please see Referencing for beginners. Thank you. This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

The comment the reviewer left was:

Fails WP:NCOMPANY, requires significant coverage in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved. If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to User:Natashiaann/sandbox and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window. If you now believe the draft cannot meet Wikipedia's standards or do not wish to progress it further, you may request deletion. Please go to User:Natashiaann/sandbox, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window, add "{{Db-g7}}" at the top of the draft text and click the blue "publish changes" button to save this edit. If you do not make any further changes to your draft, in 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted. If you need any assistance, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors. I am having difficulty in understanding what I am supposed to do, I've tried putting in in-text citations however they do not seem to be working, can I please have assistance.

I'm very lost when it comes to this,

Thank you

04:44:34, 24 September 2020 review of draft by Fascipedia

[edit]

Hi I just want to know how many more references I need to add? I seem to have plenty that "show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject" but it keeps getting rejected on these grounds.

Fascipedia (talk) 04:44, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fascipedia. The problem in such cases is almost always insufficient quality of references, not insufficient quantity. The fix is not to keep adding sources, but to delete all poor sources so that any good ones stand out. Novice editors are commonly advised to cite at least 3 independent, reliable, secondary sources that contain significant coverage of their topic. Ruthlessly remove any reference that is neither on Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources nor a well established newspaper or magazine. Then throw away any sources disqualified by WP:MUSICBIO from demonstrating notability (most commonly primary source interviews where the musician is talking about themselves).
The subject is a living person, so expect to have to use inline citations for every statement you make about them (reviewers are a sceptical bunch and will challenge almost any statement). Most reviewers will also expect you to make clear in the first sentence or two why the subject is notable, which criterion of WP:MUSICBIO they meet.
Finally, external links, ones that take the reader away from Wikipedia, are not allowed in the body text. And bare URLs are strongly discouraged. These two things should not prevent acceptance of a draft, but why needlessly irritate a reviewer whose help you are seeking? --Worldbruce (talk) 16:56, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

it has been 3 months but my article has not yet published on wikipedia. I have also added citations and external links in my article but again it has not been published. Please help because i want to list my college on wikipedia.

@Ainanhussain: you haven't resubmitted the draft for review, so nobody looked at it. I have restored the original decline notice, which includes a resubmit button. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 06:38, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

hey i have addede external links to my article but still it is rejected. Please help me out. Ainanhussain (talk) 11:06, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ainanhussain Your draft was rejected, meaning that it will not be considered further. It was rejected because it only has one source and just tells of the existence of the Institute. Wikipedia articles must do more, they must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable orgnanization. Please see Your First Article. 331dot (talk) 11:57, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

13:35:37, 24 September 2020 review of submission by E.fruchtman

[edit]

Why isn't the topic notable? There are recent sources which meet the notability guidelines(Bloomberg, Wirtschaftswoche(one of the biggest business magazines in Germany),...

E.fruchtman (talk) 13:35, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi E.fruchtman. The cited Bloomberg article doesn't meet the notability guidelines for Flacks Group at all. It contains a single sentence about the company, which is far from significant coverage, and the claim is a quote from the chairman and CEO, so hardly arms length. The Wirtschafts Woche piece is a facile interview of the CEO without any analysis, evaluation, interpretation, or synthesis by the interviewer. It is a primary source, and not independent. You may have greatly underestimated how difficult it is for a company to meet Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:27, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have re-drafted the page completely to remove all promotional language that was present on the page. Also, I have used new citations from notable publications such as The Verge, PC Magazine, etc. Further, I have done away with unnecessary sections that was branding and marketing the subject's products.

I have adopted a neutral, fact-based approach. Please review this draft and share feedback. Thank you!

You gotta have sources. We need to have multiple credible third-party news sources that discuss the subject in some depth to even consider having an article. Hello. I am trying to publish this article. Could you please help explain to me why it keeps saying it reads like an advertisement? Perhaps specific examples? Thank you.

May I suggest you start by approaching the latest reviewer who pushed the draft back to you? All of us who review drafts know that we have to be able to justify our decisions. It's part of the territory when we volunteer. Fiddle Faddle 22:43, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
