[edit]

Hello, I have spent the last 2 days writing 2 different articles on wikipedia. I tried to remain unbiased, but I believe they were both relevant. One was "Randy Ruether" which was the biograhy of an artist and creator of a new 3 player Chess game, called Ch3Xs. The other was on the game "Ch3Xs" itself. "Ch3Xs" is already a part of the "Three-Player Chess" article and I thought it deserved it's own page. Also the creator , Randy Ruether is a prolific artist, and has done a variety of creator owned comics as well. I believe both these articles are relevant, and deserve to be a part of wikipedia, to be seen, edited and reviewed by others as well. But, even if they are not believes to be legitimate articles, I would like to retrieve this information and save it for myself somehow for further editing. Thank you

@Rue36: no Declined As you might now realize, Wikipedia doesn't care about what you think is relevant. For that, we have notability guidelines as well as a host of other content guidelines. You seemingly have read none of them. Incidentally, I've nominated your user page for deletion since that content already exists in your draft and Wikipedia is not here to host your website.
Every article in Wikipedia must about a notable subject and be verifiable with many independent reliable sources. Please read our guidance and determine if your goals can realistically met. As for keeping content, you would do well to copy the code of your draft into a word document. If content is deleted, you may ask for that content to be returned to you. I see you've already created a duplicate draft; I recommend against that since it's easiest to have one document to develop. Chris Troutman (talk) 06:03, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering if you could assist me understand the reason of declining the article about Autoportal? This would help me understand the future edits on the portal.

Regards, Vikas Trivedi

@115.112.157.58: As the reviewer stated, Draft:AutoPortal was written to sound like an advertisement and didn't feature significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Press releases and stories based on press releases are not considered independent on wikipedia, blog posts are not considered reliable on Wikipedia, and directory listsings at places like crunchbase are not significant coverage. Notability on Wikipedia is based on what other people say about a company, and the article hasn't demonstrated that it meets the standards of WP:CORP for notability. --Ahecht (TALK

Request on 23:00:08, 27 October 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by Steven Yvan

[edit]

My entry was rejected on grounds that (in the words of Rankersbo) "We need independent references that are about the subject, not by the subject." I have reviewed the piece and have come up with six new footnotes. These references include the following authors: Joseph Ellner; renowned British historian E.P. Thompson; political scientist and leading Venezuelan specialist Daniel H. Levine; renowned philosopher and theoretician Ernesto Laclau; a pro-Chavez writer whose position on the 1958-1988 period differs from that of Ellner; and British political scientist Diana Raby. As a result of this edit, of a total of 20 footnotes, 7 will be of authors other than Ellner. I believe that this revision would definitely strengthen the piece. Please let me know whether the edit would serve to overcome Rankersbo’s objection.

Let me push answering this question back to you. We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. Do the references that you have found meet all those criteria? If they do then the answer is a resounding "Yes!" Yes, they will improve the draft immensely.
You do, however, need to read WP:REFB and WP:CITE, and then migrate your hard coded footnotes into our reference scheme. These are numbered automagically, and renumbered when another edit intervenes. Yes, it means work, but the draft is unlikely to be accepted without that work
We do not judge the draft by the quantity, but by the quality of its referencing. One excellent reference beats 100 poor ones. For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS Fiddle Faddle 08:26, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please also read WP:CITEKILL. I didn't see any independent sources, but that might be because there was an excess of references to the subject's own papers. Rankersbo (talk) 08:36, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I authored a biographic article on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master Luiz Palhares. It's my first article not sure why it hasn't posted? Sciambro (talk) 23:07, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Sciambro: You didn't submit the article for review, hence it hasn't been reviewed. I think the subject passes our notability guideline specific to martial artists but this draft reads very promotionally with phrases like "One of the most notable and accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners and instructors in the world today...". You also need more in-line citations as well as better references. I shouldn't have to go searching the IBJJF website to find the results of competitions. You need to provide the exact link.
