Request on 06:35:56, 16 October 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by Evacsato

[edit]

The contribution on Lars Johanson has been refused twice. I would like to get help with improving the references. Lars Johanson is professor emeritus at Mainz University in Germany and the author of many many books, articles in journals, Encyclopaedia Britannica, other international handbooks. I do not understand how I can argue better for his notability in my contribution. Please help me. Best regards Eva

Evacsato (talk) 06:35, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The draft in question is Draft:Lars Johanson. User:DGG might be able to provide some input on this. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 06:44, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've given the appropriate advice. DGG ( talk ) 02:34, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the wording as I think OK. Being my teacher and mentor I may have written the description of Prof. Gomes in a praising tone. May I know whether I need to change any further. I have seen many articles in Wikipedia in similar manner. Thanks

Moving the contents box

[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam

Please could you advise me on how to move the contents box to below the title of my article on Walsall Central Library. I have looked everywhere and am finding it rather confusing! Many thanks, Helena — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lovewalsalllibraries (talkcontribs) 09:37, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Articles have titles already by virtue of their being named. Your additional title line was superfluous, and I have deleted it. The TOC has now been located at the right place, whereas it was, previously, above your faux-title. I have left a comment on your draft about an obvious piece of work required, but I have not given it a detailed review. The lead section you need to create must not have a title, or you will re-create the problem I have solved for you. Fiddle Faddle 09:44, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

11:17:46, 16 October 2014 review of submission by Joeeddy8

[edit]

I don't understand why the notability for the subject person is not worthy of wikipedia - I have 21 references for a rather short article which are all from solid sources.

And the citations have been fixed correctly unless I am misunderstood, it has also been waiting for re-review for over two weeks and Leah Totton would like this live ASAP

Thank you for your time.

Joeeddy8 (talk) 11:17, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No-one cares what Leah Totton wants. I imagine you are her PR agent? We deprecate WP:COI and paid editors. This is WIkipedia. Get a web site if all you want is PR.
Meanwhile I have left a comment on your draft which shows why I would not accept it if I reviewed it today. You have work to do. Fiddle Faddle 12:03, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You may like reference 9 [1] better but I suspect the author doesn't. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:04, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it is even handed. Not bad for a tabloid paper that is not known for being WP:RS!. Anyway, since Leah Totton wants a swift verdict I have looked hard at it and no Declined it for being improperly sourced. I have based it on the comments I left on it. I've submitted a new page for a band. The submission was a few weeks ago but the process doesn't appear to have moved forward. any tips. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Bear%27s_Den_(band)

Sometimes it is like waiting for a bus. Wait and wait and then a load of reviewers arrive all at once. We review things as volunteers and we review only the drafts we feel competent to review. Fiddle Faddle 21:28, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

The article for Lightswitch has been rejected three times. Each time I have made edits to reflect the reviewer's comments. Could you please help me determine what I need to do to get the article published?

Thank you,

Liz

One of the best ways is to talk to the reviewer who declined it last. Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. Fiddle Faddle 21:20, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

21:24:08, 16 October 2014 review of draft by ApensarApp

[edit]

We are needing help with the citation information, the info in our article comes directly from the company. What kind of references should we use?

ApensarApp (talk) 21:24, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. Your user name is not appropriate, nor is your use of the first person plural. One account/one editor, and no corporate names. Fiddle Faddle 21:36, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

21:36:31, 16 October 2014 review of submission by Roland Werner

[edit]

My article celebrating my brother's life was rejected. I can understand as is. I did not know from any of your instructions that the article had to be written in HTML. Your system changed it completely from a x.DOS Microsoft article. I am fully aware that I need to massively edit the thing before you can read it comfortably. It will take some time, if its OK, I haven't done HTML for 15 years. Is it appropriate an appropriate submission when completely edited. Notice with this kind of editing, I'll get my 10 edit stripes in a jiffy. I modeled it after Einsteins Biography." Please read the first 'two' pages with the intro by Prof. Pinxten. That is the only material referenced at the end of the article. The rest is my total creation. New topic:: How do you add a photograph to the text in a box? see Einstein. Hope this meets with your approval. And please advise! Cordially, Roland. Roland Werner (talk) 21:36, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, it must not be written in HTML. What you need to do is to past simple text in. It truly is easy. I have no idea what yoiu used to create it in the first place, but the process does not require HTML at all. Indeed, please do not use it. You may find one of the online chat links useful to get help? Fiddle Faddle 21:41, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Most html does in fact work, but I think of wikicode as s simplified subset. A knowledge of html makes learned out particular simplifications very easy. DGG ( talk ) 03:14, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

22:20:12, 16 October 2014 review of draft by Efrain Ib

[edit]

Efrain Ib (talk) 22:20, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your previous guidance.

Question; I am writing an article about SCEDC, South County Economic Development Counsel. I work for SCEDC.

Error message says: Major contributor to article appears to have a close connection with its subject. Also, "Notability Guidelines" say :" Do not create pages about yourself, your company.....

Will this article not be acceptable to Wikipedia, if completed, because author works for SCEDC ??? Please advise. Thank you very much.

If you are patient with the draft > submit > review > edit > resubmit (etc) process, then all will be fine, provided you listen to and implement advice well and are able to write neutrally about your employer. It is useful to declare explicitly your status on the talk page of the draft itself, though you have no need to state your real name (assuming you are not using it). Deploying {{Connected contributor}} on that talk page is considered appropriate, too. Fiddle Faddle 22:36, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear sirs

I'm waiting for the review of my first article for over 6 weeks already. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Tigran_Tsitoghdzyan Please help me move it forward. It is just a short bio of a painter...

best regards

Hamik.m (talk) 23:11, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have accepted this draft and it is now at Tigran Tsitoghdzyan. There are still plenty of problems with it, but these can be addressed in the main article space. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:02, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
