Regarding: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Radio Amateurs of Northern Vermont

This was declined: Comment: No extensive coverage in independent nor reliable sources, therefore non-notable. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 16:58, 8 January 2014 (UTC).

I can cite several sources where activities of this organization were covered and discussed in detail by the Press (statewide newspapers, TV stations). Is this sufficient? I'm not sure how to work the references into the article from a literary standpoint. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. W1sj (talk) 08:55, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, detailed discussion in multiple newspapers is ideal for proving notability. To see how to add citations (you seem to have one already?), check out Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. To see how existing Wikipedia articles recognised as Good Articles use citations to verify their content and prove the significance of their topic, you could refer to Good Articles listed under Wikipedia:Good articles/Social sciences and society. For example, Spirit Fruit Society is a Good Article about another non-profit organisation in the USA, while Amateur Station Operator's Certificate is a Good Article that you might find of interest because of the topic area. It rather depends on what you would like to create a page about. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so article pages should only be about topics that meet the requirements of Wikipedia:Notability. Further, you are strongly discouraged from creating Wikipedia articles about yourself or about organisations or topics with which you are involved; see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for more details. Hi! I'm a consultant for KKEC, an irani educational complex for girls.

The school would very much like to be referrenced in wikipedia so we have put together a set of facts regarding the school and it's history.

Unfortunately the article was not approved for lack of references, but the problem is that there aren't much public written references in Iran.. How can we review/resubmited the article so that KKEC can be present in Wikipedia?

I created an article in the sandbox but am concerned that I have not titled the article correctly. Currently as I view the page it is titled: User:HFMURRAY/sandbox but when it becomes an article it should read 'Tetrosyl' - Is this how it will appear?

Also, how would I create the company profile box that typically appears on the right hand side of the article - I am unsure of the name of it so am having trouble searching for help with it.

Yes, if the article submission is accepted then the accepting reviewer will move (rename) it to an appropriate title.

Hi!

I am having trouble getting my article approved. I am open to and so thankful for any help and or suggestions. The last comment was that my article needed to use secondary reference, which I thought I did? Thank you so much in advance, I appreciate your time.

Specifically your article lacks independent reliable sources from the company. The Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony really isn't a good demonstration of notability. The reason it was Declined is because it has a lot of non-encyclopedic input. To be blunt phrases like set high academic standards, celebrate joyful learning, and respect and educate the whole child are meaningless in an encyclopedia. It's just generic filler that does not tell the reader anything about this school that doesn't apply to a thousand schools all over the world. The article really comes across as promoting vice describing the school. That aside, I believe schools under the high school level have to meet the standards set at WP:Notability: that is, you have to show that this particular school has a notable impact above and beyond what other schools would have. Do media (and not just in the local area) point out this school as being special? Is its structure discussed in architect publications? Have any big education studies/experiments happened there that are still talked about by academics 20 years later?

Clearly, a school is special to the people who are there, but to have an article you must demonstrate, with footnotes to the sources, that outside authorities have found the school worth singling out. I strongly suggest you read Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines which very clearly lays out the requirements. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:48, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article declined reason: references do not adequately reference the subjects notability.

Subject was a published author, over 30 novels published by NY publishers. Isn't that notable? I was very surprised that this was declined. One of the references is a Library of Congress listing. Gayle Foster Fostergaylej (talk) 20:12, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of authors is more about the impact of their published works rather than the sheer volume. A library of congress listing does help verify the contents of an article, but it doesn't show notability, there needs to be coverage of the author and her work in sources showing that people are taking note of it. You would expect an author who has sold 30 books to major publishing houses to have gained sufficient attention to be notable, but the fact someone is published is not a measure of notability.
