WikiConference India 2016 is the name for the second nationwide meet-up of Wikipedians in India, held from August 5–7, 2016, in Chandigarh, North India. This was the second meet of its kind ever, after the 2011 event held in Mumbai in western India.

The event was hosted by the Chandigarh Group of Colleges, at Landran, (Mohali).[1]

Hackathon, Editathon and other events

During this event, participants took part in a hackathon and also an editathon. There were as many as six tracks, sometimes held in parallel.[2]

Among those present were Wikimedia Foundation executive director Katherine Maher, Wikimedia Foundation board member Nataliia Tymkiv, Wikimedia Foundation senior program officer for emerging Wikipedia communities Asaf Bartov, Wikimedia Foundation language engineering team (international) manager Runa Bhattacharjee, and Punjabi poet and writer Dr. Surjit Patar, Wikimedia Foundation Wikipedia education program senior manager Tighe Flanagan, Wikimedia India president Yohann Varun Thomas and Wikimedia Foundation communications and outreach coordinator María Kreuz.[3]
